PART 2 PRODUCTS1.01 FRAMING MATERIALS

A. Non-Loadbearing Framing System Components: ASTM C645; galvanized sheet steel, of sizeand properties necessary to comply with ASTM C754 for the spacing indicated, with maximumdeflection of wall framing of L/240 at 5 psf.1. Studs: C shaped with flat or formed webs with knurled faces.2. Runners: U shaped, sized to match studs.

B. Tracks and Runners: Same material and thickness as studs, bent leg retainer notched toreceive studs with provision for crimp locking to stud.

C. Furring and Bracing Members: Of same material as studs; thickness to suit purpose; complyingwith applicable requirements of ASTM C754.

D. Fasteners: ASTM C1002 self-piercing tapping screws.

1.02 FABRICATIONA. Fabricate assemblies of framed sections to sizes and profiles required.

B. Fit, reinforce, and brace framing members to suit design requirements.

PART 3 EXECUTION2.01 INSTALLATION OF STUD FRAMING

A. Comply with requirements of ASTM C754.

B. Extend partition framing to structure where indicated and to ceiling in other locations.

C. Partitions Terminating at Ceiling: Attach ceiling runner securely to ceiling track in accordancewith manufacturer's instructions.

D. Align and secure top and bottom runners at 24 inches on center.

E. Fit runners under and above openings; secure intermediate studs to same spacing as wallstuds.

F. Install studs vertically at 16 inches on center.

G. Align stud web openings horizontally.

H. Secure studs to tracks using crimping method. Do not weld.

I. Fabricate corners using a minimum of three studs.

J. Double stud at wall openings, door and window jambs, not more than 2 inches from each sideof openings.

K. Coordinate installation of bucks, anchors, and blocking with electrical, mechanical, and otherwork to be placed within or behind stud framing.

D. Certifications: Manufacturer's certifications that products comply with specified requirements,including laboratory reports showing compliance with specified tests and standards. Foracoustical performance, each carton of material must carry an approved independent laboratoryclassification of NRC, CAC, and AC.

E. If the material supplied by the acoustical subcontractor does not have an Underwriter'sLaboratory classification of acoustical performance on every carton, subcontractor shall berequired to send material from every production run appearing on the job to an independent orNVLAP approved laboratory for testing, at the architect's or owner's discretion. All products notconforming to manufacturer's current published values must be removed, disposed of andreplaced with complying product at the expense of the Contractor performing the work.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCEA. Single-Source Responsibility: Provide acoustical panel units and grid components by a single

manufacturer.

B. Fire Performance Characteristics: Identify acoustical ceiling components with appropriatemarkings of applicable testing and inspecting organization.1. Surface Burning Characteristics: As follows, tested per ASTM E 84 and complying with

ASTM E 1264 Classification.

C. Acoustic Panels: As with other architectural features located at the ceiling, may obstruct or skewthe planned fire sprinkler water distribution pattern through possibly delay or accelerate theactivation of the sprinkler or fire detection systems by channeling heat from a fire either towardor away from the device. Designers and installers are advised to consult a fire protection engineer, NFPA 13, or their local codes for guidance where automatic fire detection andsuppression systems are present.

D. Coordination of Work: Coordinate acoustical ceiling work with installers of related workincluding, but not limited to building insulation, gypsum board, light fixtures, mechanicalsystems, electrical systems, and sprinklers.

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLINGA. Deliver acoustical ceiling units to project site in original, unopened packages and store them in

a fully enclosed space where they will be protected against damage from moisture, directsunlight, surface contamination, and other causes.

B. Before installing acoustical ceiling units, permit them to reach room temperature and astabilized moisture content.

C. Handle acoustical ceiling units carefully to avoid chipping edges or damaged units in any way.

1.07 1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONSA. Space Enclosure:

1. Standard Ceilings: Do not install interior ceilings until space is enclosed and weatherproof;wet work in place is completed and nominally dry; work above ceilings is complete; andambient conditions of temperature and humidity are continuously maintained at valuesnear those intended for final occupancy. Building areas to receive ceilings shall be free ofconstruction dust and debris.

1.08 WARRANTYA. Acoustical Panel: Submit a written warranty executed by the manufacturer, agreeing to repair or

replace panels that fail within the warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to thefollowing:1. Acoustical Panels: Sagging and warping2. Grid System: Rusting and manufacturer's defects

B. Warranty Period:1. Acoustical Metal panels: One (1) year from date of substantial completion2. Grid: One (1) year from date of substantial completion

PART 3 - EXECUTION3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Do not proceed with installation until all wet work such as concrete, terrazzo, plastering andpainting has been completed and thoroughly dried out, unless expressly permitted bymanufacturer's printed recommendations.

3.02 PREPARATIONA. Measure each ceiling area and establish layout of acoustical units to balance border widths at

opposite edges of each ceiling. Avoid use of less than half width units at borders, and complywith reflected ceiling plans. Coordinate panel layout with mechanical and electrical fixtures.

3.03 INSTALLATIONA. Follow manufacturer installation instructions

B. Install suspension system and panels in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, and incompliance with ASTM C 636 and with the authorities having jurisdiction.

C. Install wall moldings at intersection of suspended ceiling and vertical surfaces. Miter cornerswhere wall moldings intersect or install corner caps.

D. For reveal edge panels: Cut and reveal or rabbet edges of ceiling panels at border areas andvertical surfaces.

E. Install acoustical panels in coordination with suspended system, with edges resting on flangesof main runner and cross tees. Cut and fit panels neatly against abutting surfaces. Supportedges by wall moldings.

F. Install acoustical panels in coordination with suspended system, with edges resting on flangesof main runner and cross tees. Cut and fit panels neatly against abutting surfaces. Supportedges by wall moldings.

3.04 ADJUSTING AND CLEANINGA. Replace damaged and broken panels.

B. Clean exposed surfaces of ceilings panels, including trim, edge moldings, and suspensionmembers. Comply with manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and touch up of minor finishdamage. Remove and replace work that cannot be successfully cleaned and repaired topermanently eliminate evidence of damage.

PART 3 EXECUTION3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Verify existing conditions before starting work.

B. Verify that layout of hangers will not interfere with other work.

3.02 INSTALLATION - SUSPENSION SYSTEMA. Rigidly secure system, including integral mechanical and electrical components, for maximum

deflection of 1:360.

B. Install after major above-ceiling work is complete. Coordinate the location of hangers with otherwork.

C. Hang suspension system independent of walls, columns, ducts, pipes and conduit. Wherecarrying members are spliced, avoid visible displacement of face plane of adjacent members.

D. Where ducts or other equipment prevent the regular spacing of hangers, reinforce the nearestaffected hangers and related carrying channels to span the extra distance.

E. Do not support components on main runners or cross runners if weight causes total dead loadto exceed deflection capability.

F. Support fixture loads using supplementary hangers located within 6 inches of each corner, orsupport components independently.

G. Do not eccentrically load system or induce rotation of runners.

H. Perimeter Molding: Install at intersection of ceiling and vertical surfaces and at junctions withother interruptions.1. Use longest practical lengths.2. Overlap and rivet corners.

3.03 INSTALLATION - ACOUSTICAL UNITSA. Install acoustical units in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Fit acoustical units in place, free from damaged edges or other defects detrimental toappearance and function.

C. Fit border trim neatly against abutting surfaces.

D. Install units after above-ceiling work is complete.

E. Install acoustical units level, in uniform plane, and free from twist, warp, and dents.

F. Cutting Acoustical Units:1. Make field cut edges of same profile as factory edges.

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLINGA. Store resin materials in a dry, secure area.

B. Store materials for three days prior to installation in area of installation to achieve temperaturestability.

1.07 FIELD CONDITIONSA. Maintain minimum temperature in storage area of 55 degrees F.

B. Store materials in area of installation for minimum period of 24 hours prior to installation.

C. Maintain ambient temperature required by manufacturer 72 hours prior to, during, and 24 hoursafter installation of materials.

2.02 ACCESSORIESA. Subfloor Filler: White premix latex; type recommended by flooring material manufacturer.

B. Primers and Adhesives: Waterproof; types recommended by flooring manufacturer.

PART 3 EXECUTION3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Verify that sub-floor surfaces are smooth and flat within the tolerances specified for that type ofwork and are ready to receive flooring.

B. Verify that wall surfaces are smooth and flat within the tolerances specified for that type of work,are dust-free, and are ready to receive flooring.

C. Verify that sub-floor surfaces are dust-free and free of substances that could impair bonding ofmaterials to sub-floor surfaces.

3.02 PREPARATIONA. Remove sub-floor ridges and bumps. Fill low spots, cracks, joints, holes, and other defects with

sub-floor filler.

B. Apply, trowel, and float filler to achieve smooth, flat, hard surface. Grind irregularities above thesurface level. Prohibit traffic until filler is cured.

C. Vacuum clean substrate.

D. Apply primer to surfaces required by flooring manufacturer.

3.03 INSTALLATION - FLOORINGA. Apply in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Apply each coat to minimum thickness indicated.

C. Finish to smooth level surface.

3.04 PROTECTIONA. Prohibit traffic on floor finish for 48 hours after installation.

B. Barricade area to protect flooring until fully cured.

PART 2 PRODUCTS1.01 MANUFACTURERS

A. Provide all paint and coating products used in any individual system from the samemanufacturer; no exceptions.

B. Paints:1. Base Manufacturer: SHERWIN WILLIAMS.

a. Paint: Envirolastic 940 Biege (Sherwin Williams)

C. Substitutions: See Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements.

1.02 PAINTS AND COATINGS - GENERALA. Paints and Coatings: Ready mixed, unless intended to be a field-catalyzed coating.

1. Provide paints and coatings of a soft paste consistency, capable of being readily anduniformly dispersed to a homogeneous coating, with good flow and brushing properties,and capable of drying or curing free of streaks or sags.

2. Supply each coating material in quantity required to complete entire project's work from asingle production run.

3. Do not reduce, thin, or dilute coatings or add materials to coatings unless such procedureis specifically described in manufacturer's product instructions.

B. Primers: As follows unless other primer is required or recommended by manufacturer of topcoats; where the manufacturer offers options on primers for a particular substrate, use primercategorized as "best" by the manufacturer.

C. Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Content: 1. Provide coatings that comply with the most stringent requirements specified in the

following:a. 40 CFR 59, Subpart D--National Volatile Organic Compound Emission Standards for

Architectural Coatings.2. Determination of VOC Content: Testing and calculation in accordance with 40 CFR 59,

Subpart D (EPA Method 24), exclusive of colorants added to a tint base and water addedat project site; or other method acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.

D. Colors: As indicated on drawings

1.03 PAINT SYSTEMS - INTERIORPART 3 EXECUTION2.01 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly and correct defects prior to coating application.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the bestresult for the substrate under the project conditions.

C. Remove or mask surface appurtenances, including electrical plates, hardware, light fixture trim,escutcheons, and fittings, prior to preparing surfaces or finishing.

D. Seal surfaces that might cause bleed through or staining of topcoat.

E. Remove mildew from impervious surfaces by scrubbing with solution of tetra-sodium phosphateand bleach. Rinse with clean water and allow surface to dry.

2.02 APPLICATIONA. Apply products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Do not apply finishes to surfaces that are not dry. Allow applied coats to dry before next coat isapplied.

C. Apply each coat to uniform appearance.
