I hope everyone had a Happy New Year. January represents only the half way mark for the cities fiscal year. City staff will be presenting the mid-year financials at the second city council meeting of January. Please attend to get a snapshot of where the City is financially at mid-year.
The first half of the year the City Staff and City Council were busy in its effort to better the quality of life for the citizens of McFarland. Some of the projects that the city completed is the expansion of the Ebel Sump. The expansion finally resolved the flooding that occurred at Munoz Park area. The Ebel sump expansion is the third flood control project that the City has completed. The City is aware of several other areas in the City where flooding is occurring and will be working to resolve those flooding issues soon.
The new 12 acre park on East Sherwood continues to be constructed and is estimated to be completed in the next fiscal year. Construction is slow process, due to grant funding and all the red city staff has to work through to be able to fund the project.
In January you will see the second block of W. Kern Ave. reconstructed and streetscape, similar to the first block of W. Kern Ave. that was completed last year; The city received a grant to purchase a modern computerized graffiti

2016 is upon us- Happy New Year! This means that we are half way through the school year and our staff and students have many important matters to handle before the summer break: improving reading, writing, computation skills, FAFSA applications, SAT/ACT testing, getting letters of recommendations, etc. However…as a parent, you might find yourself contemplating whether to keep your child in McFarland or send them elsewhere? I am well aware that we have choices when it comes to the education of our children; and we want the best for them.
Therefore, if the last statement resonates true with you, as it does with my wife Elmy and me, then McFarland Unified School District is the best place to be. Why? We meet the needs of all our students: high achievers, who plan to attend the best universities, as well as the needs of those students seeking to acquire skills in high-demand careers. Our graduation rate exceeds the state average. Our students received full scholarship to top-tier universities.

Espero que todos hayan tenido un Feliz Año Nuevo. Enero representa sólo la marca de la mitad del camino del año fiscal de la ciudad. El personal de la ciudad va a presentar los datos financieros de mitad de año en la segunda reunión del consejo municipal de Enero. Por favor asista para obtener una foto instantánea de donde la ciudad está financieramente a mediados de año.
La primera mitad del año, el personal y el Ayuntamiento de la ciudad estaban ocupados en su esfuerzo por mejorar la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos de McFarland. Algunos de los proyectos que la ciudad ha completado es la expansión del sumidero Ebell. La expansión ha resuelto finalmente la inundación que se produjo en el área Muñoz Park. La
expansión del sumidero Ebell es el tercer proyecto de control de inundaciones que el Ayuntamiento ha completado. El Ayuntamiento eta consciente de varias otras zonas de la ciudad donde está ocurriendo inundaciones y va a trabajar para resolver los problemas de inundación pronto.
El nuevo parque de 12 acres en el este de Sherwood continúa siendo construido y se estima que se completará en el próximo año fiscal. La construcción está en proceso lento debido a la concesión de financiación y todo lo rojo que el personal de la ciudad tiene que trabajar a través de poder financiar el proyecto.

The Future of McFarland is Bright!Hello residents of McFarland, We are continuing to complete many new
projects around town and yet there is still more to come. I am excited to announce that we are making more room for business down town on Kern Ave., on East Sherwood and on the southwest corner of Elmo Hwy. I was glad to see that Autozone opened its doors in town to offer their services for all our automotive needs. We recently also cut the ribbon for our new bank in town. United Security Bank has now opened its full service and drive up ATM machine. The ATM is located on the intersection of Frontage/1st Street and Perkins Ave. Please call them, they offer free checking and all ATM transactions are free with an account. $25.00 is all that’s needed to open up a savings account.
We will continue to see more construction work adding new sidewalks and repaving more roads through various grants we have been awarded. One new project will consist of adding sidewalks lamps and benches on Second Street. We are getting closer to completing the new park on East Sherwood which will have a new soccer field a baseball field with a skate park and an amphitheatre. The soccer field will have professional grade grass that will withstand heat and abuse much better than most soccer fields in the county. We will soon see the building of a new park in the Villa de Caribe housing development which is in the planning stage this month.
Your City Council members, the McFarland Tri Agency Partnership and I are discussing and planning how we can provide more soccer fields in the future, especially with the on-going success of our high school soccer teams and the many youth soccer program that are crowding our parks. This is a good problem to have for it directs our attention towards what our children and community needs when building parks, or possibly the need to build a future soccer complex!
I also want to take the time to congratulate our Festival Committee members for all the wonderful parades and holiday events they manage and coordinate in our community. Our Christmas Parade, Cinco de Mayo and 4th of July celebrations are more exciting and better attended each year. We just experienced an enjoyable Cops and Candy event which was a collaboration between our police department and the festival committee. The Christmas Parade this year was an evening parade with lighted floats and other holiday decorated vehicles for our night time enjoyment.
So please keep our city, its staff and our many community volunteers in prayer when you pray, along with our School District, our Recreation and Park District and the festival committee. Together we are committed to growing and serving to bless all of you, our residents.

proyectos alrededor de la ciudad y sin embargo, todavía hay más por venir. Estoy muy emocionado de anunciar que estamos haciendo más espacio para los negocios por toda la ciudad como en Kern Ave., en el este de Sherwood y en la esquina suroeste de Elmo Hwy. El campo de fútbol tendrá césped de calidad profesional que soportar el calor y abuso físico mucho mejor que la mayoría de los campos de fútbol de nuestro alrededor. Pronto veremos la construcción de un nuevo parque en la urbanización Villa de Caribe que se encuentra en la etapa de planificación en este mes.
Sus miembros del Concejo Municipal, el McFarland Tri Agencia de Colaboración y un servidor estamos discutiendo y planeando cómo podemos proporcionar más campos de fútbol en el futuro, sobre todo con el éxito continuo de nuestros equipos de fútbol de la escuela secundaria y los muchos programas de fútbol juvenil que están desplazando nuestros parques. Así que por favor mantenga nuestra ciudad, su personal y nuestros muchos voluntarios de la comunidad en oración cuando ores, junto con nuestro Distrito Escolar y nuestro distrito de Recreación y Parques. CAPK VITACAPK Energy Program Provides No-Cost Home Weatherization
and Utility Payment Assistance for Qualifying FamiliesThis year’s cold and wet El Niño winter provides a perfect
opportunity for qualifying low-income families in northern Kern to take advantage of a cost-free way to conserve energy while saving money.
Community Action Partnership of Kern’s Energy Program provides once-per-year Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assistance with gas or electric bill payment, and home weatherization that can cut down on heating bills in winter and cooling bills in summer, while adding value to a home and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
For LIHEAP assistance, because the program is based on income, you may qualify without owing any money to your utility company. And even if you do owe on your utility bill, you don’t have to wait until you receive a 48-hour shutoff notice to apply.
No-cost home weatherization upgrades, which can be worth as much as $4,000 on average, include such items as heater and air conditioning unit and duct repair and replacement; weather-stripping, caulking and attic insulation; installation of energy efficient refrigerators, lights, showerheads, solar water heaters and more. CAPK’s no-cost weatherization assistance is possible whether you own or rent your home. Renters simply need to get their landlord’s consent first.
Currently, CAPK Energy Program has ample funding available from the State of California Cap and Trade Program and the State’s Department of Community Services and Development (CSD). This new, additional funding takes into account Kern’s greatly increased population between the 2000 and 2010 Census (from 661,645 to 839,631 inhabitants), high poverty rate (24.5% per the latest Census.gov figures) and the need to reduce the poor air quality in many Kern County communities, including those that lie in the Highway 99 corridor, like McFarland.

removing machine. This machine will be able to match the paint of the exterior paint the graffiti was on. This means that you will no longer see gray or white paint used to cover graffiti. This will be a nice improvement to the aesthetics of the City; two more buildings on W. Kern Ave will have its facades redone and improved. The façade program will eventually reach all businesses in the City; Rite Aid is moving forward as you can see the final older building on W. Kern Ave. was demolished. Rite Aid intends to start construction in late January; Staff has started working on the streetscaping project of Second Street from Sherwood to Perkins. This project was asked to be constructed by the residence in our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) community workshop. The city applied and was awarded $1.9 million for that project and a few others; this will improve the lighting and sidewalk on Second Street. This is just a very short list of all the projects happening in the City. Ask me or the Staff about all the projects coming in the near future.
I would like to thank all the Citizens that have be showing up for the numerous city workshops that the city has been having. Citizens input is very important to staff and City Council. In addition, it is very important to the City Grant’s Department and Grant applications. Again Thank You. We ask that more citizens get involved and attend the city workshops.
Finally, I would like to thank the Police Department, City Staff, Citizens Activity Committee, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and all the citizens that make all the activities such as the Cops with Candy, the annual Christmas Parade and the annual giving of Christmas packages to the needed families in McFarland, possible. McFarland is truly a blessed City.

2015 was a very busy year for the Community Development. The Planning Division processed several new development projects including the AutoZone store located on W. Perkins Avenue and the new Rite-Aid store that will be built on W. Kern Avenue. The Building Division issued 393 building permits of which 65 were for new houses and the Code Enforcement Division continued to educate the citizens of McFarland on property maintenance.
2016 should be as busy, if not busier than 2015 because 2 new residential development projects were approved that include 60 new single family lots, 6 multifamily lots and approximately 12 acres of commercial property. Additionally the developers of the Villa del Caribe subdivision will submit a development application for the area north of Hail Lane, west of Garzoli Avenue and south of Elmo Highway. This development will be a mixture of single family, multifamily and commercial lots.
The Community Development Department, in addition to the accomplishments and projects listed above, is currently working on 2 long range projects that when completed will change McFarland forever. The first project is a General Plan Amendment for the area of McFarland south of the existing town, west of Driver Avenue, north of Whisler Road and east of Garzoli Avenue. The second project is closely related to the first project and is a plan for a new interchange at SR-99 and Hanawalt Avenue. When both of these projects are finished there will be enough industrial and commercial property to accommodate 1,700 new jobs and enough residential property to accommodate an additional 15,000 to 20,000 new citizens of McFarland. The area included in the General Plan Amendment can accommodate approximately 20 years of growth.

La División de Construcción emitió 393 permisos de construcción de las cuales 65 fueron para las nuevas casas y la División de Cumplimiento del Código continuó con la educación a los ciudadanos de McFarland de mantenimiento de la propiedad.
El 2016 va a estar igual de ocupado, si no más ocupado que 2015 porque 2 nuevos proyectos de construcción de viviendas fueron aprobadas que incluyen 60 nuevos lotes unifamiliares, 6 lotes multifamiliares y
aproximadamente 12 acres de propiedad comercial. Además los desarrolladores de la subdivisión Villa del Caribe presentarán una aplicación de desarrollo para la zona norte de Hail Lane, al oeste de Garzoli Avenue y al sur de la autopista Elmo. Este desarrollo será una mezcla de unifamiliares, multifamiliares y lotes comerciales.
El Departamento de Desarrollo de la Comunidad, además de los logros y proyectos mencionados anteriormente, está trabajando actualmente en 2 proyectos de largo alcance que cuando se completen cambiará a McFarland por siempre. El primer proyecto es una Enmienda al Plan General para el área de McFarland sur de la ciudad existente, al oeste de Driver Avenue, al norte de Whisler Road y al este de Garzoli Avenue. El segundo proyecto está estrechamente relacionado con el primer proyecto y es un plan para un nuevo intercambio en SR-99 y Hanawalt Avenue. As we start this New Year, the Grants Department would like to take a few moments and acknowledge all the people who make the grant program possible. We do not write grants alone. A variety of key personnel provide information critical to the success of the proposals; whether it is data, past accomplishments and organizational history, program activities, or budget numbers. Thank you for taking time away from your regular duties to get the information we need. Planning and Public Works thank you for implementing the grant projects and keeping them on track. And to our city manager and council members for supporting and approving grant applications.
The Grant Departments kick-started 2016 with a Public Workshop on January 5, 2016, to discuss the need for the animal shelter and the City’s plan to file an application for the construction of the Animal Shelter with the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Loan Program. Denise Raymond, the Animal Control Officer presented 2015 statistics on McFarland Animal Control:
• McFarland Animal Control picked up over 500 dogs that were running loose• More than 90% of these homeless pets went to non-profit rescue organizations across the United States and Canada, some left in cars, some in vans, some in small airplanes and some were even flown by a commercial airline to get their destinations• 5% of the dogs picked up were adopted by citizens or returned to their owner • Animal control held several rabies clinics where over 200 dogs got vaccinated, microchipped, and licensed Altogether these are pretty amazing statistics considering the limited space
at the McFarland Animal Shelter. In 2016, McFarland Animal Control plans on holding more clinics in 2016, so watch for the dates on the McFarland Animal Shelter Facebook Page. It is very important for your dog to be vaccinated to keep them healthy and also to have them licensed with the city. Over the year, several dogs had escaped their backyard and because they were wearing their license tag animal control was able to return these dogs back to the owner right away.
Animal Control would also like to remind everyone that the city ordinance requires dog owners to keep their dogs on a leash while walking or kept confined in a fenced yard when at home. Dogs may only be tied for 3 hours. If your dog must be tied, contact Animal Control for information to install a trolley system for your dog. This is a safe way to keep your dogs confined and you will have a happier dog.
Please remember your pets during these cold winter nights. If possible bring your pets in at night during the extreme cold temperatures. If your pet is an outdoor only pet, please provide them with a dog house and bedding to keep them warm. If you need assistance, please contact Animal Control at (661) 792-2121.

Al comenzar este nuevo año, el Departamento de Becas le gustaría tomar unos momentos y reconocer a todas las personas que hacen posible el programa de subvenciones. El Departamento de Becas comenzó el año nuevo con un taller público, el 5 de enero de 2016, para discutir las necesidades del refugio de animales y el plan de la Ciudad para presentar una solicitud para la construcción del refugio para animales con el programa de préstamos USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Loan Program. Happy New Year! The Police Department was excited to participate in giving back to
the community during the Thanksgiving holiday. Officers took food baskets to 13 families in our community. The baskets were filled with a turkey or ham, potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, pie, and other delicious foods. It was so special to be able to help less fortunate families.
The Department participated in the Annual McFarland Christmas Parade. We constructed a float for the parade. The float consisted of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts characters. The theme of the float was a Peanuts Christmas Wonderland. We were honored to participate in this fun and festive event.
Christmas was also an exciting time for the police department. We hosted our Annual Operation Christmas event. We received support from several sources including the Walmart Supercenter on Gosford Road in Bakersfield, Delano Family Motors, Toys for Tots, Dennis Michael Elliott, GEO Corrections and Detentions, and Downs Equipment Rental. Thank you to everyone for your support. Police personnel, volunteers, and city officials accompanied Santa Claus to the residences of the selected families. We were able to give gifts, clothing, bicycles, Christmas trees, lights, ornaments, and food to over 35 families in McFarland. We also enjoyed spending time with the families and singing Christmas Carols with them.
The Department conducted quarterly firearms training at 5 Dogs Range. We also completed updated conducted electrical weapons (Taser) training. Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation donated $12,000.00 for the purchase of 10 conducted electrical weapons, holsters, and support software. We thank the Foundation for their strong support.
We were able to hire an Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police. Her name is Cristina Gonzalez, and she is a good addition to our police department. We are in the process of testing and the further evaluation of some promising candidates for the positions of Police Officer and Reserve Police Officer. Also, we are testing for part-time Police Office Technician to backfill two positions in our Communications Division.
The Explorers conduct bi-weekly meetings. They recently marched in the McFarland Annual Christmas Parade and assumed all of the Color Guard duties. They continue to do a tremendous job. The Police Activities League (PAL) Program will be started in November. We have several youths that are actively involved in the program. The PAL program meets every Saturday afternoon from 1 – 5 PM. Purchase of a John Deere Tractor with attachments, such as: 10’ disc and a backhoe attachment. Equipment is replacing outdated equipment. This tractor is to be used in the maintenance of the Cities Wastewater storage reservoirs and storm drain sumps within City limits.

By Jeff Nickell, District Manager2015 was an eventful year for MRPD to say the least. The staff worked
hard to create enjoyable programs for the residents of McFarland, especially the kids. I would like to thank all of the staff for their dedication and point out Joana Martinez who worked in dual capacities running MRPD along with board member David Diaz. Ms. Martinez, Mr. Diaz, and the rest of the board of directors are to be congratulated for transitioning MRPD into what we are today. I started in August and was able to focus on projects directed to be completed by the board.
Here is a brief look back at some of the programs and projects completed in 2015:
Programs: Adult softball, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, softball, swim lessons and open swim, and volleyball. Thank you to all our coaches, officials, timekeepers, scorekeepers, announcers, concession workers for making all our programs possible. Thank you to Stephanie Dounseroux for coordinating all the programs.
Another program that should be noted is our Fun Skills class. Teachers Norma Samaniego and Erica Velasquez teach one of the best pre-school classes in Kern County. The McFarland Unified School District has said that children coming out of our program are very well prepared for kindergarten. MRPD is looking to expand the program to give more pre-school age children the opportunity to learn in such an outstanding environment. Great job, teachers!
Projects: When I started, I walked through all of the MRPD facilities and made a list of things I felt needed to be fixed or updated. I also looked at the boring things such as operations, personnel manuals, and job descriptions. The board of directors under the leadership of outgoing president Brenda Bradford also had a list of things to accomplish.

Programas: Adulto softbol, beisbol, baloncesto, animación, cross country, futbol, beisbol con pelota blanda, clases de natación, natación, y voleibol. Gracias a todos nuestros entrenadores, funcionarios, cronometradores, anotadores, locutores, trabajadores de la concesión para la fabricación de todos nuestros posibles programas. Gracias a Stephanie Dounseroux de coordinar todos los programas.
Otro programa que cabe destacar es nuestra clase de habilidades de diversión. Profesores Norma Samaniego y Erica Velasquez ensenan un de las mejores clases de preescolares en el Condado de Kern. El Distrito Escolar Unificado de McFarland dijo que niños que salen de nuestro programa están muy bien preparados para kínder. Focus On the Board: Amador AyonAmador Ayon was elected by his peers on the McFarland Recreation and
Park District to be the chairman for 2016. Mr. Ayon was gracious enough to answer some questions so you can get to know him better.
1. Are you a native of McFarland? Talk about what comes to mind growing up in the town, including family life.I came to McFarland when I was 13 years in 1983. I grew up at 161 Browning
Road to parents Juana and Senen Ayon. I come from a family that had 13 brothers and sisters. In the 1980s, we had some struggles growing up but we always had our family to fall back on. We were shown to work hard for everything we had, so our summers and winter breaks consisted of us working in the fields (for me starting age the age of nine). Those days helped to build a character in us that we still have today.
2. Who are the people who have had the greatest influence in your life?Some people that have had the greatest influence were of course my parents,
Mr. Jim White, my college coaches, Thomas Valles, David Diaz and my wife Trini Arguello-Ayon.
3. You are a part of the McFarland Cross Country dynasty. Tell us what it was and is like to be part of something so successful. Also explain the hard work it took to be a top level athlete.
I began to run cross country in 1984 as a sophomore at McFarland High School (I went to Delano High my freshman year). At first, it was really hard trying to compete with all the talented runners. I was lucky enough to get a chance in a varsity time trial because Thomas Valles was hurt. That opportunity opened the door for me on the varsity team as a sophomore, which I never gave up again. Back in the mid 80s, we were pretty good winning a lot but not racing fast like the kids do today. We ran 55-70 miles a week during my senior year; looking back we really worked and put in a lot time to be successful. We won league titles every year I ran and we won the South Area title in 1986. We came in 2nd my two other years. Even then our fame was just starting as a very good high school team, but we didn’t have the chance to win a state title since it wasn’t contested until after I graduated. The hard work really made or molded me into the person that I am today and I still wake really early to run or to get my day going. The work ethic of the early years I still live by today.
4. When did you graduate from McFarland High and CSUB? Did you go anywhere in between?
I graduated from MHS in 1987 and then attended College of Sequoias from 1987 to 1990. I had the opportunity to go to Cal Poly SLO in 1991, but transferred to California State University at Bakersfield and earned my BA degree in Social Studies in 1992. I had the chance to compete at all three schools. I also got a minor in Spanish and Math and have my teaching credential from CSUB.
5. What organizations are you part of and what awards have you received?
I have served as board member for the McFarland Recreation and Park District for four years, I am on the board of the McFarland Tri Agency Partnership, a member of the McFarland Festival Committee, and am in the process of joining the Lions Club. I have been blessed to receive numerous awards, but I hold the ones I earned as a teacher and coach the dearest: I was Teacher of the Year for 7th grade 2004 and 2005, Bakersfield Californian All Area Coach of the Year 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 for Boys Cross Country and 2006 for Boys Track and Field, 2013 and 2015 for Girls Cross Country. I was given the Chamber of Commerce President’s Award in 2009.

So, what is 2016 going to bring? Programs: We will have the same great programs, but also plan to add
other offerings. Some of the possibilities are dance, music, after-school arts and crafts, senior games and activities, and maybe a wrestling program. The latter depends on the energy (though not completely) of one old wrestler who shall remain nameless.
Planned Projects: 1. The Mouser Community Gymnasium restrooms will be remodeled2. Major tree pruning at Mouser and Browning Road3. The purchase of two new utility vehicles and a car with grant funds4. Additional lighting added to parks5. Addition of restrooms to Ritchey Park6. Renovation of Mouser Center Reception Hall, kitchen and Fun Skills classroom7. Installation of new scoreboard for Mouser FieldOf course, some of these may
change as emergencies occur. One thing I want to see happen is the renovation of the interior pool facilities (lockers, restrooms, etc.). However, the extent of renovations will depend, in part, on our ability to secure grant funds. But, it is our goal to continue to make your parks and facilities better.
One last thank you goes to Brenda Bradford and Johnny Samaniego for serving as the chair and vice-chair of the board of directors. You did a fantastic job! You care so much for the community. It really shows. This year, Amador Ayon and Eliseo Santillano have been voted chair and vice chair respectively.

6. Tell us about your current family life. I am married to Trini Arguello-Ayon and we have three beautiful children
Alexa 16, Jordan 13, and Mikayla 10. Overall I could not ask for a better life. I still keep in contact with my siblings and my dad. My mother passed on June 2, 2014, but there doesn’t go a day I don’t think of her.
7. Why do you give so much of your time to the community of McFarland?
I have taught and coached for over 25 years. I give so much to the community because I love to help others. The Lord gives you the ability to serve him by serving others so by all means use his grace. I like to serve our youth because I firmly believe you to teach and bestow good values in them, not only by teaching but just by spending time with them. My love of athletics is unconditional, since sports did so much for me.
8. Why is MRPD so important? And, why did you decide to make the commitment to run for and become a board member?
At first, I was reserved in running for the MRPD Board. But after spending some time with the other members we have learned to trust one another and to make a difference. I firmly believe that as a community member you should try to give up some of your free time to help not only our youth, but our other citizens. Once we do that and throw out any agendas and look at the big picture, that is the City of McFarland and its citizens, we make this small beautiful city a better place to live in.

porque me encanta ayudar a los demás. El señor le da la capacidad para servirle a el por servir a los demás por que todos los medios utilizan su gracia. Me gusta servir a nuestros jóvenes porque creo firmemente que ensenar y otorgar buenos valores en ellos, no solo por ensenar pero solo por pasar tiempo con ellos. Mi amor del atletismo es incondicional, ya que deportes hicieron muncho bien a mí.
8. ¿Por qué es tan importante el MRPD? ¿Por qué decidiste hacer el compromiso de ejecutar para convertirte en un miembro de la Junta?
Al principio, estaba reservado en el funcionamiento de la Junta de MRPD. Pero después de pasar aguín tiempo con los demás miembros hemos aprendido a confiar en uno a otro y para hacer una diferencia. Creo firmemente que como un miembro de la comunidad debe intentar dar un poco de su tiempo libre a ayudar no solo a nuestros jóvenes sino a los otros ciudadanos. Una vez que hacemos eso y tirar cualquier agenda y mirar el panorama general, que es la ciudad de McFarland y de sus ciudadanos, hacemos esta pequeña ciudad un lugar mejor para vivir.

Disposal will implement new policies and procedures as well as enforce the city ordinances to ensure the city is complying with the state regulations.
Beginning February 1, 2016 R&F Disposal will:• Tag Blue and Green recycling carts filled with trash or contaminated. The tag will describe the violation and after the third violation it will result in a $25 fine.• Require waste and recycling carts be level with the rim of the cart and the lid MUST be closed. R&F will no longer service carts that are overfilled or placed in the wrong location. If the cart is overfilled on your service day you will be required to level it off so the lid will close and call R&F Disposal to reschedule your pick up for an additional cost or wait until your next service day.If you need information on what goes inside your BLUE, GREEN and BLACK

Calling all contractors did you know construction and demolition (C&D) materials make up approximately 22 percent of California’s waste disposal. That is why City of McFarland implemented an Ordinance that requires C&D to be recycled to meet AB939 requirement of 50% of its solid waste which includes Construction and demolition debris.

The purpose of this law is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting commercial waste from landfills and to expand opportunities for recycling in California.

Our student-athletes were invited to several national competitions. Our students interested in the visual and performing arts traveled across our state to perform in various important venues. Yet none of this could happen if it were not for the highly qualified and caring teachers and support staff that work hard to meet the needs of each of our students. We do not discount any student! Moreover, high percentages of our staff are graduates of McFarland High School and have had or currently have their children in our schools.
Therefore, it is with great pride that my two daughters attend McFarland schools and will graduate Cougars with the classes of 2020 and 2023!
