This is an exciting time of the year…atleast for some of us. Yet at the sametime we are saying “where has thesummer gone?” No matter where youare on the spectrum, school is startingin just a couple weeks.
I hope the summer break was good foreveryone. I know many of you werebusy with family and friends. Otherswere just enjoying the time off.
I am looking forward to this school yearas I do each school year. There aremany changes in store, but change isgood! I hope you will take time to readthis newsletter and then get on thecomputer and update your student’sinformation.

We are welcoming two new faces to McCord this year. We will miss those who have left and wish them the best and welcome those new to McCord. Here is a glimpse of the new staff: Annie DeWitt – Intervention Spec. Alexandra Cassens – Counselor Again, please take time to read over the important information provided to you for the upcoming school year.

August 8th WEB Day-7th Grade/Registration Day for ALL
Mark your calendar for August 8th! There are a few changes from past years, but this is the day for the PTA Supply Sale, Schedule pick up, School pictures, Locker assignment and so much more. 7th Graders – WEB DAY – from 8:30 am – 11:30 am - This is your time to find out all about McCord Middle School. You should be receiving emails regarding this special time just for you. During this time you will get your schedule (reminder: Bring your signed Student Code of Conduct Acceptance Form), locker assignment and school picture taken, along with lots of other fun stuff! 7th graders are welcome to come back and set up his/her locker and walk around the building from noon to 5 pm. (7th graders may have their picture taken in the afternoon if that would work better than during WEB in the morning). 8th Graders – REGISTRATION DAY – from Noon – 5:00 pm - 8th graders are encouraged to come any time between noon and 5:00 pm to get your schedule (reminder: Bring your signed Student Code of Conduct Acceptance Form), locker assignment and school picture taken. During this time you can set up your locker. PTA Supply Sale – The PTA Supply Sale will be in the cafeteria from Noon to 5:00 pm. Be sure to stop in and support our PTA. If you will be out of town on August 8th you can come into the school office beginning August 9th , between 8:00 am – 3:00 pm to get your schedule and locker assignment. Student schedules cannot be picked up before August 8th. Please note that the Supply Sale is only on Monday, August 8th. Please contact the school office if you have any questions at 614-450-4000

Attendance Information
You will find the Student Code ofConduct on our website(www.worthington.k12.oh.us) under“Our School” Tab. Please take time toread this information and sign the papertitled “Student Code of ConductAcceptance Slip” and return on August8th. We will be reviewing this
Student Code of Conduct information with students the first dayof school. If you have any questionsregarding this please contact Mr. Kuri.
Middle school fees are $38.00 to be paid online at www.mypaymentplus.com You may pay school fees beginning August 6th. You will be able to use computers at school on registration day to pay your fees. We encourage everyone to pay their fees on line. Checks and/or cash will not be taken on registration day. If you have any questions regarding the school fees, please contact Mr. Kuri.

The website isalso used to inform parents of daily andmonthly happenings at McCord in acalendar format and provide links tohelpful information.
Parents or guardians should call the school at 450-4010 before 9:00 A.M. to report an absence. If the parent/guardian does not call, the attendance assistant will make an attempt to call all parents or guardians of students who are on the daily absence list.
As you go about your back-to-school shopping, please remember thefollowing items.
Shorts should extend to the mid-thigh Shorts/pants should be worn near or at the waist line Tops should cover the shoulders or midriff area.
We require tops to cover all undergarments.
Students who are dressed in a way that presents a health, safety, or educational distraction will be asked to change their clothing.
The school day is 8:45 – 3:45. Students are not to be dropped off at school before8:15 am. unless they have an appointment with a staff member. Our schedule doesnot allow for staff supervision before school. Please be sure to make arrangementsfor this drop off time.

We will again be offering both Wolvesathletic passes and District athleticpasses this year for all co-curricularevents! Passes will be sold onRegistration Day! The cost will be asfollows: Adult Wolves Pass- $30.00 Student Wolves Pass- $10.00 Adult All District Pass- $100.00 Student All District Pass- $65.00 The passes will be distributed beginning August 19th.

Worthington Schools is responsible for locating any child birth to 21 with a suspected disability who resides within the Worthington School District. The school district provides special education services to any child who qualifies as disabled according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act ages 3 through 21 years of age. Suspected disabilities include: multiple disabilities, deaf-blind, hearing impairment, visual impairment, speech/language disability, orthopedic impairment, emotional disturbance, mental retardation, specific learning disability, autism, traumatic brain injury, other health impairment and developmental delay (preschool only). If you know of a child who is suspected to have a disability, please call the Director of Special Education at 450-6020 or contact your building principal. Worthington Schools has a parent mentor on staff to assist parents of students who are referred for a special education evaluation or who are eligible for special education services. The Parent Mentor can support parents as they move through the processes associated with special education or as a resource for information related to special education.
