A.General Items

A.1. General and Code Notes -- See Cover Sheet.

A.2. Contract Documents and Work - Conform to PSU General

Conditions of Contract and Bid Documents.

A.3. Area / Location of Work -- See drawings.

A.4. All Products shall be installed per manufacturer's

specifications and recommendations. Products listed shall

be as noted. Approved equals shall be allowed by

contractor submitted substitution request form prior to Bid

Invitation deadline. Provide product submittals samples for

PSU to review prior to ordering product. Product Review

approval does not imply or change the contract documents

without an approved change request and change order.

A.5. See Schedules --- for color / finish / material / room /roof /

door schedules for more specification information.

A.6. Dimensions -- All drawing dimensions shall have preference

over scale. Verify all dimensions prior to commencement of

work. Notify PSU of any discrepancy.

A.7. Structural Engineer Approvals - Penetrations of Structure by

Contractor, including anchoring, coring, scraping, cutting

or removal is not permitted unless approved by PSU

Structural Engineer.

B.Demolition

B.1. General Demo --- Remove existing walls, doors, frames,

finishes, electrical, mechanical, and other building items as

required to accommodate new construction. Remove all

abandoned mech., elect., and plumbing lines in area of

work. Verify all existing structure and protect. Protect all

egress paths and exits.

C.Walls

C.1. Wall Finish -- Smooth texture or to match existing

surrounding surfaces.

C.2. New Wall Assembly --- See Structural drawings for min.

requirements. Walls to be minimum unless noted other

wise 3 -1/2" metal studs x 20ga. @ 16" o.c. w/ 5 /8" type 'X'

gyp. bd. typical both sides.

C.3. Wall Bracing --- See Structural drawings for minimums.

Unless notes otherwise. Brace above all walls, windows,

relites, to be minimum unless noted otherwise---3-1/2" x 20

cabinetry, woodwork, all new mechanical and electrical

Company or approved equal. Include Doors with lites, Flush

internally blocked for closer and panic bar installation

support.

D.3. Hollow Metal Frame at Doors / Relites --- Painted Finish --

Ceco or approved equal 16 gauge hollow metal welded

frames.

D.4. Glass -- All glass to conform to City of Portland code safety

impact requirements. 1 /4" thk. tempered clear glass at

relites with complete metal framing surround. 1/ 2" thk.

tempered clear glass at butt joint glass installations. Clear

Silicone at butt joints.

D.5. Hollow Metal Doors -- Painted Finish. Ceco or approved

equal --16 ga.solid core interior door.

E. Door Hardware

E.1. Finish -- See hardware Schedule.

E.2. Standards --- Provide complete installation per ADA

handicap accessibility standards. All hardware to be

manufactured, specified, and installed per specifications

and standards per the American Society of Architectural

Hardware Consultants. Review all hardware operation

settings with PSU locksmith prior to final city permit

inspector review.

E.3. Submittal List --- Provide to PSU a complete hardware

submittal list for review and approval prior to ordering and

construction.

F.1. Signage -- BY PSU -- New floor and building interior

signage per code, ADA, and PSU standard requirements .

H.1. New Woodwork --- All woodwork to conform to "Custom

Grade" - Architectural Woodwork Institute standards and

specifications.

I.2. Floor Hole Patching --- Verify with Structural Engineer. For

max. 4" dia holes use 6" dia. x 16 ga. galv metal plate and

P.1. Telephone and Computer Network Cabling and WIFI -- by

PSU Dept. of OIT.

Q.Lighting / Electrical

Q.1. Electrical and Lighting --- See Electrical Engineer's drawings

for more information. Protect existing as required.Provide

new lighting as indicated on drawings.

Q.2. Pathway & Boxes - Contractor to provide all boxes at ceiling,

walls, and floors, conduit, and pathway as req'd. to include

Electrical, Audio Visual, Telco, Alarms and other devises.

Q.3. Exit and Emergency -- Contractor to complete Construction

so as to provide minimum exit, egress, audible strobe

alarms, and emergency lighting as required by City of

Portland, including (1) footcandle min at floor during

construction. All doors, exits, and hardware, to meet

min.code requirements of the City of Portland for exits and

ADA clearances.

Q.4. Systems Furniture -- Provide all power conductivity, power

poles and data poles, electical whips from adjacent walls,

and connect to systems furniture.

R.Mechanical / Air Grilles

R.1. Mechanical -- See Mechanical Engineer's drawings for

mechanical items.

R.2. Balance HVAC system--- Contractor to Balance per code

requirements and submit an Engineer's approved report for

PSU Mechanical Engineer review and approval.

S.Plumbing

S.1. Plumbing -- See Mechanical Engineer's drawings for

plumbing items.

S.2. Refrigerator water -- Provide new line and finished assembly

at wall with exposed valve box.

S.3. Fire - Systems

S.3.1. Fire Alarm / Sprinkler Systems. -- Contractor to Submit

to city fire marshal and provide PSU with City of

Portland fire marshal signed and dated approved fire

system drawings. Refer to Mech/ Elect. Engineer

drawings and specifications for additional requirements.

Provide new work to conform to NFPA and include

demolition, relocation, materials and labor for a

complete code compliant installation.

S.3.2. Fire Sprinkler Heads - Provide Quick Response Fire

Sprinkler heads to match existing at all new work. Verify

existing. Move fire sprinkler / heads or add new to

accommodate new work per code.

1. General Items

1.1. Framing and Anchoring -- See Section 1

for framing and anchoring of stud walls,

doors, relites, and glass walls to

structure. Typical products listed or

approved equal.

1.2. See spec. notes sheet A2 for more

details.

2. Ceilings

2.1. Code -- Ceiling installation to be per

latest city of Portland approved IBC / 25 /

# 2 standards.

2.2. Hangers -- Provide additional hangers at

all members within 8" of the ceiling

perimeter.

2.3. Hanger connection devices --Secure all

hangers to bldg. structure with approved

connector of min 100 lb. capability.

2.4. Stabilizer bar to be between all

members at ceiling perimeter.

2.5. Vertical Struts -- to be at 12' oc each

way.

2.6. Sloped Hangers -- Provide (2) counter

slope hangers if more than 1 to 6 out of

plumb.

2.7. Trapeze Hangers around ductwork and

other large obstructions.

2.8. Ceiling Grid -- Suspended ceiling grid to

be Heavy Duty type.

2.9. Runners -- Secure cross runners

between main runners.

3. Walls , Bracing, Fillers, and Insulation.

3.1. New Walls typical --- Unless noted

otherwise, walls to be min. 3-1 /2" x 20

ga. metal studs @ 16" o.c.with 5 /8" type

'X' gyp. brd. both sides. Do not secure

walls to suspended ceiling grid. Do not

cut ceiling grid at below ceiling walls.

3.2. Bracing -- At wall and windows to be

min. 3-1 /2" x 20 ga. metal studs @ 4'

o.c. alternating direction at 45 deg. angle

max. (w/ vert. studs at window

locations). Secure to L2"x2"x12" x 16 ga.

metal angle at conc. structure above.

3.3. Filler Strip - Jamb to Mullion - 1 /2" thk. x

2" black closed cell neoprene filler strip.

Filler Strip - Wall Head to Suspended

Ceiling - 1/ 4" thk. x 2" wide.

3.4. Filler - Floor holes --Core Drills or

existing max 4" dia holes patch with 6"

dia x 18 ga. metal plate and epoxy. Fill

with 2-hr. safing and fire caulk.

3.5. Filler - Rigid Insulation - fire rated, secure

in metal track framing.

3.6. Ceiling & Wall Insulation - R-11 min.

3.7. Drywall metal edge at gyp. brd. for level

smooth continuous line.

3.8. New Upper Wall - Provide typical vert.

studwall, insulation and bracing above

ceiling where full ht. walls are required

per plan.

3.9. Patch Drywall - smooth patch and finish

paint drywall at joining of (2) walls.

4. Doors / Windows

4.1. Doors and Windows.

4.2. Wood door w/ lite -- 1/4" glass lite and

wood stops to match door.

4.3. Hollow Metal Frame .

4.4. Ceiling break to accommodate

continuous wall or window-door frame.

4.5. Hollow Metal Frame Relites (R1 and R2)

1/ 4" clear temp glass in hollow metal

frames.

4.6. Continuous Ceiling - at walls that are

constructed below ceiling.

4.7. Glass Walls (GW) -- 1/2" clear temp. butt

joint glass at jambs with alum. frame sill

and continuous head over door. Clear

silicone sealer at butt joints.

4.8. Glass Door (GD)-- 1/2" thick clear

tempered glass, to butt joint glass walls,

with 1" x door ht. manuf. tublar alum

door pull each side. Alum. frame head

and sill, floor pivot, hidden in frame, ADA

closer at head. At Suite Entry locations

for door exit out requirements provide

push activated latch release at vert. exit

bar. Key latch at min 36" ht. at exterior

side of door always activated by interior

vert. push bar.

4.9. Butt Joint -- Clear Transparent Caulk

Butt Joint glass at wall and at glass

joints.

5. Fasteners (Secured to Structure)

5.1. Wall Bracing -- 16 ga . x 3-1 /2" metal

stud min. 48" oc alternating -- Fasteners

to metal framing includes, brace to angle

at deck, or brace to wall plate track.

Steeler Tek Screws --- Typ. min. (3) #8

x 3/4 . Do not screw to suspended

ceiling grid.

5.2. Alum. Window Sill -- Simpson Titen HD

Mini Screws at Concrete --- Typ. min.

1/4" dia. -- conc. embed min 1-3/4" at

16" o.c.

5.3. Angle to Deck --12" x 16 ga. Fasten

with Powers Fasteners Hit Anchors at

Concrete --- Typ. min (3)1 /4" dia --

conc. embed min. 3/4" at 3" o.c.

5.4. Hollow Metal Frame Sill -- Powers

Fasteners at Concrete --- Typ. min. (1)

1 /2" dia flat head hd sleeve anchor--

conc. embed 2-1/ 2" min. 32"o.c. through

metal frame support sleeve.

5.5. Wall Sill Track -- Ramset low veloc. shot

pin anchors at Concrete -- Typ. min.

0.145 " dia. embed min. 3 /4" at 16" o.c.

5.6. Wall Head Track - 18 ga. Slotted

expansion head track fastened to

structure with 1 /4" dia Hit Anchors at

concrete min 3 /4" embed at 16"oc. Alt.

condition: double anchors when

trackspan is between waffle slab ribs.

5.7. Hollow Metal Frame Fastener Straps ---

(3) min per jamb. Secure to framing with

Typ. min. (3) #8 Tek screws each side

of strap.

5.8. Window Head. -- Steeler Tek Screws

Typ. min. #8 x 3/4 " at 12" o.c. ---

secure to metal wall track...not to

suspended ceiling grid.

5.9. Joint of (2) Vertical Walls - Use (2) #8 at

16" oc to join top track of existing wall to

new sill track of upper wall.
