ANALYSIS

Did the board display design reflect the likes/interest of its target audience? Why? Why not?

As I roamed around the school. I saw tat every classroom has a bulletin board display in each grade/year level and it divided according to the purpose. One bulletin board for subject matter and the other one is for month activities. It was placed where the target viewers can see them easily.

Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?

The language was to simple and understandable for the target audience.

What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why? Why not?

The purpose of the board display was about the Lingo ng Wika, which was the event for the month of August. As I looking it clearly the bulletin is quite not effective because it lack of attractiveness, balance, unity, legibility, interactivity, correctness in grammar and durable and effective communication.

What suggestion can you make?Their bulletin board display must be done creatively and unique so that they well confused on what are posted and good displays reflect the efforts exerted by each concerned teacher and students. The bulletin board should possess the following characteristics: have attractiveness, balance, unity, legibility, interactivity, correctness in grammar and durable and effective communication.

MY PROPOSED BOARD DISPLAY

Theme: Ang Pagbigay halaga sa sariling wika ay katulad ng pagrespeto sa sarili.

Board Title: Linggo ng Wika

Rationale: for general information

Objectives: To give importance to our own language.

Best features of my proposed bulletin board enhancement:

My proposed bulletin enhancement is covered with plastic or it better it has a slide sliding glass so that it will become free from dust and it preserve until the end of the month. In the upper portion is the big cut-out letters of Linggo ng Wika it must be focus of what events is presented. I will cut-out letters of theme “Ang pagbigay halaga sa sariling wika ay katulad ng pagrespeto sa sarili”. And also I will cut pictures that related to the theme, add with colorful designs of my board display that can attract the student’s eyes, and I will arrange it properly.

Materials for Aesthetic Enhancement:

Cartolina, construction papers, bond paper, and cut-out letters and pictures

REFLECTIONS

Being a teacher you should have a good communication skill. The word presented in the bulletin should reflect the work or personality of the teacher. Have the sense which he/she can convey the viewers or readers oh what message he/she delivers. Teacher should be creative in this skill in making several of display in the bulletin board so that it can attract the learners. He/she should be resourceful on using available resources in the school. The color combination should be creatively, unique because it will arouse the learner’s curiosity, and the attention of the pupils will be called.

As I experience in my high school life we put up a bulletin board inside the classroom so that the pupils will be gained some knowledge and available to learn being a creativity on their own. The teacher-pupils are helping each other to make a bulletin board. We used cartolina, plastic cover, coloring materials, card board, and old newspaper; recycle materials from the garbage where we can use as decoration on the bulletin. All the materials was used to make a creative and unique bulletin board because that time there was competition in making a bulletin board in our school.

It was memorable experience I have in my life because I learned how to be creative in such way making a bulletin board. That I can use in the future.

EPISODE 3: UTILIZATION OF TEACHING AIDS

Observation

I was observing the English class. The lesson was all about adjectives that describe places and events. The teacher used books in English II and pictures of Philippines and Africa. Both teacher and pupils used books in English II. The teacher asks the students read the selection about slavery in Africa. After the students read the selection. The teacher asks the students about the similarity differences of the pictures and letting them describe each. The teacher uses pictures which showed of the colonized people in the Philippines in relation to the selection to makes her lesson understandable to the learners.

As I listened to the verbal responses of the students, few of them were participated. The others were not pay attention to the teacher. They did not make any responses whenever the teacher ask questions, it seems like they are not focused.

Some of them are non-verbal responses showed only little understanding because only few of them raised their hands every time the teacher asked those questions. Those only few learners were able to write sentences on the board describing events. Most of them did not show attentiveness, eagerness to understanding the lesson of their teacher.

Books

Pictures

All students involve in the reading process. All of them have a book.

By reading the books, students are able to improve their speech skills.

Pictures are colorful and attractive; it well attracts the learner’s attention to focus on the lesson.

The students are not that focused because they refer in lecture method.

Even pictures are colorful, but these are small, learners at the back cannot see clearly.

It is much better if the teacher unlock difficult words first then explains to the pupils so that they will be able to understand the selection easily.

In presenting a picture, teacher must produce big so that it will become visible to everyone specially in the back.

ANALYSIS

What do you think prompted the teacher to choose the materials/learning resources that she/he used?

I think teacher used books/ lesson guide so that he has a flow in her lesson. The teacher use pictures so that it better to understand the lesson because she know that student has different level of understanding.

What difficulties, if any, did the teacher experiences? How can this be managed? The difficulties experienced by the teacher were the behavior of the students. Some of the students are not listening they were busy on talking to their set mate and texting in the phone. When the teacher is in the middle discussion he/she immediately call the students to let her read the selection of the books so that the student well able to pay attention to the teacher.

Over-all, were the learning resources/materials used effectively? Why? Why not?The learning resources/materials used are less effective because only the few students got passing score. Mostly of them got below score. Then the teacher made a remedial class to the student who did not pass the long quiz.

REFLECTIONS

Put yourself in the place of the teacher. What would you do similarly and what would you do differently if you will teach the same lesson to the same group? Why?

If I were the teacher, I would do different style in my class discussion. I would use Power Point Presentation as my visual aids. I used big pictures that it will visible to the students. I will give example of how to answer the quiz so that the student will understand it clearly. Then, I will give them time to create their own sentences related to the discussion. Afterward, I give evaluation not too long so that they will able to finish before the time.

The difficulties I encountered in making hand-out were the selection of what graphic organized to use that best suited to my topic. The preparation of the hand-out was too time-consuming.

What tips can you give teachers regarding preparation of hand-out?In preparation of hand-out, the teacher should decide what topic to be discussed. After deciding the topic, the teacher should choose what graphic organize is best to used. The teacher should be flexible in meeting the needs of the students since learners are multiple intelligence which they varied in learning style.

Episode 6: Slideshow Biz (Slide Presentations)

ANALYSIS

The good features of a slide presentation is that it has transitions, themes and effects that boost students attention to the discussion, include pictures in your slides to let your audience know what you are talking about. A picture speaks a thousand words than a letter. Another is it use links. It makes your presentation not too long, nor too short.

Reflections

I have no difficulties in making a slide presentation because I always make a presentation for my reports, class presentation, and even in my work which much more useful for presentation if there are seminars. And, I also learned it from my Ed. Tech course.

Episode 7: My E-World (Websites)

Reflections

Based on my experiences in surfing a net to find site that provide a support resource materials and interactive program for my topic. I found out that it easy to get information just by typing the key word then it will give much information. As these days learners are too dependent in internet they were refer to used it than reading a books. Even young child they now know how to used computer not just by researching but they play computer games.
