Limited copies of the statehood pamphiets are still available for dis
. tribution to students and faculty members, ·accordingto Ralph Toyota, chairman of the ASUH statehood commit-tee.
Organizations wanting these booklets should submit their requests to Toyota, campus mail 430, and should accompany their bids with the purpose of the requisition and the number of copies wanted.
The student council this week appropriated $150 to the committee to print five thousand more copies of the pamphlet. .

Alfred Laureta, junior, speaking on "Should the United States Control the Pacific Islands" won the Berndt Extemporaneous Oratorical contest yesterday afternoon in Hemenway Hall.
The control should be in the form of trusteeship given to the United States by the United Nations Orgq.nization, instead of dire-ct and outright annexation, declared Laureta.
Melvin Letman, freshman won second place. He spoke on "Will Independence to India Mean _5:ivil War."
Third place went to Victor Cohen who spoke on "Should The United States Feed Europe."

•.. Nagata A meeting of students interested
in forming a band next year will be held at 12 :45 PM Monday in Dean hall 8, Kenneth Nagata, chairman of the Spirit and Rally committee an-nounced last week. .
At the meeting band members will sign up for instruments.
Nagata will also discuss plans for next year. It is quite definite that instruments and uniforms will be provided, Nagata said.
For veterans interested in the band, Nagata warned that it would be part of the ROTC.

Climaxing senior class week activities, today's picnic for the class Qf 1946 will be held from 2 to 8 PM at the Ala Moana park.

Each senior is allowed to bring one guest.
Everyone must furnish his own transportation.

Philip E. Spalding, chairman of the Board of Regents, will preside at the exercises when 177 seniors will receive their degrees. and 38 students their fifth year certificates. Presentation of prizes and awards will be made also. ~-
The Royal Hawaiian band will pla~ under the direction of, Bandmaster Domenico Moro.
Each senior is entitled to ten invitations.
Students marshals named are Emiko Kikudome for the -College of Applied Sciences; Jean Ono for Teachers College, and Geraldine Tom, College of Arts. and Sciences.
BANQUET •• To dine and dance at Hawaiian Town
Hawaiian Town, popular local night spot, will be the scene of the senior banquet scheduled for June 7 from 7 :30 to 11 p.m .
According to co-chairmen Katherine Kuwahara and Yaeko Sliigezawa, tickets may be obtained from them or Mrs.. Helena Hauenchild in Hemenway Hall before May 31. Tickets will be sold at $7.25 per -couple.
Purchasers of tickets are to call Hawaiian Town for table reservations by 12 noon of the day of the banquet. Each - person making reservation for two or ~ore couples must present ti,ckets for the whole party at the door ....

Ballots cast in the ASUH general election yesterday said that Jane Okamoto will be student body secretaty next year.
In voting that began in the early morning and co~tinued until 3 PM, Mis~ Oka~oto defeated her opponent Patsy Takemoto b..y a margin of 125 votes. '-'
The count was 360 to 235. Yesterday's election returns are
subject to review by the student coun. cil which . will meet sometime next week to act on the results.
The newly-elected secretary will join Wadsworth Yee and Edward Okazaki, who were elected -outright in the primary as president and vicepresident, respectively, in leading the ASUH next year.
Sociology Club Names Leaders
Donald, Bevins will lead the Sociology club next year following the outcome of elections held by the club this week.
Sarah Kaya is the new vice-president. Yayoko Fujie and Marjorie Nagai were elected secretary and trea- · surer, respectively.

U.H QUEEN TO REIGN AT .RACES ..
A University of Hawaii co-ed will reign as queen of.. the 20th Annual Rainbow Relays to be held two weeks from today at Alexander field, Punahou.
The coronation of the Relays Queen will highlight the track meet whi'ch is being sponsored again this year by the ·Associated Students of the University of Hawaii.
These ' plans are oniy tentative. Invitations are being extended to
Citywide, ·Army, Manana Barracks, Maui, and the local high schools to participate in the relays.

Ground Forces Band composed solely of .Niseis from the 442nd Infantry. Prior to joining the Army and befo;e the war, he was the University of Hawaii ROTC band captain.
He joined the Hawaii Territorial Guard at the outbreak of the war and later went into the Varsity Victory Volunteers until he -volunteered for the combat team.
Henry was married soon after he received his dis.charge from the Army early this year. He is thinking of taking full benefit of the GI Bill of Rights. Teaching music is his primary interest.

The annual Commerce dub banquet will be held at Waikiki Lau Y e Chai, t h i s e v e n i n g from ·s :30 to 10. Business and economics majors and their guests as well as
·members of the club are invited to this affair. Dancing will follow dinner.
The officers for next year elected at the Wednesday's meeting will b~ installed in a candlelight ceremony during the banquet. They are: Thomas Shigemura, president; Ben Fukunaga, vice-president; Janet Chock, recording secretary; Beverly Nakatani, corresponding secretary; and Osamu Nakamura, treasurer.
A review of the club activities for the year and short talks by faculty members will bf! part of the program.

ROTC PARADES NEXT WEEK
University ROTC cadets and sponsors will parade twice next week.
They will march in a spe~ial review i1~ honor of President Gregg M. Sinclair at 12 :45 PM Tuesday. All cadets and sponsors will be in full uniform.
Everyone is invited to atend the review. . On Friday, May 17, the ROTC
unit will participate in the annuaf parade and inspection by the G-3 (Operations) Section, MidPac Command. This review will start at 7 :3U

HUI HOLOHOLO TO TOUR TODAY
The first Hui Holoholo tour will be conducted this afternoon and sightseers will visit the Foster Gardens, the bamboo forest on the estate of F. J. Lowrey, and then have a Chinese dinner .at ·the Lau Yee Chai.
The tour is open to University students and faculty members. The party will leave Hemenway Hall at 2 PM .
Transportation will cost fifty cents and tickets for the trip may be obtained fr.om Mrs. Helena Hauenchild or at the Student Personnel Office.
Plans Two Parties June 8 is the date selected by
