“Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination” 2013 Women’s History Month Celebration

“Modern invention has banished the spinning wheel, and the same law of progress makes the woman of today a different woman from her grandmother,” quoted Susan B. A s we celebrate Women’s History Month, it is important to acknowledge the achievements of women throughout history. The MC offers you the opportunity to learn about women who made a change in society and history. One of the many books that the Multicultural Center has to offer; Sonia Sotomayor “The True American Dream.” Sonia Sotomayor made a tremendous impact to our nation on August 26, 2009; she became the first Hispanic Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. It is easy to state the facts and achievements of Sotomayor without knowing her struggles. Sonia Sotomayor worked hard to reach her goals; she was raised in poverty , suffered the death of her father at a young age, and experienced discomfort because of her ethnicity throughout her years of college. Her book is a must-read.
