Nutrivet A water-soluble vitamin, mineral and amino acid supplement. Nutrivet is specifically formulated to contain the vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are low in a diet based on dry seed. A diet containing dry seed alone fails to provide complete and balanced nutrition. Dry seed diets are too high in fat and low in protein. They also fail to provide adequate levels of many essential nutrients, in particular the vitamins A, B, D, E and K, the amino acids, methionine, choline and tryptophan and minerals such as iodine, zinc and copper. Nutrivet contains 21 nutrients in all and is an ideal supplement to help balance the diet in seed eating birds. Nutrivet is fully water-soluble and readily taken by the birds. It can be added to the drinking water, wet mixes and soft food, as well soaked and sprouted seed. The minerals it contains are in their proteinated form for easy digestion. Importantly, Nutrivet is also sugar free, decreasing the risk of bacterial and fungal contamination after addition to the food or water. Nutrivet can be used routinely in an established aviary or breeding facililty or given to individual pet birds to help provide a more complete diet. 250ml bottle with in-built measure. 3ml/1L of water or 7 drops per 100 ml of clean drinking water, mixed fresh daily. Once in solution Nutrivet can be added to wet mixes and soaked or sprouted seed. $22.00

Probac A probiotic preparation made for use in birds. Probac is a concentrated multi-strain probiotic made specifically for use in birds. Probiotic preparations such as Probac contain (in high numbers) a blend of the good bacteria normally found in the bowel of healthy birds. Flooding the bowel with these beneficial bacteria has many advantages for the aviculturist, helping to protect the birds from disease and aiding in the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Probiotics also have an appetite-stimulating effect, release digestive enzymes, stimulate general immunity and produce B vitamins. When can the aviculturist use Probac to advantage? During breeding and moulting. Disease is less likely to occur if

probiotics are used this time. Probiotic supplementation can lead to youngsters weaning earlier and at heavier weights.

In hand-rearing formulas. Simply dilute Probac normally (1tsp/2L) and use this water to make up the hand-rearing food.

Following antibiotic use. Replacing the good bacteria quickly after antibiotic use hastens the return to health.

After fledging. Less disease and better growth rates can be expected after weaning, if birds are supplemented with probiotics until they are feeding properly and have established themselves in the aviary.

After any stress. Transportation, rehousing, interrupted feeding and drinking patterns all provide physiological stress. Stress disrupts the normal population of bowel bacteria. The quicker this can be re-established, the less opportunity there is for disease to establish.

200ml screw top jar. 3g (measure included) to 2L of water. $42.90

Mineral Block A picking stone for cage and aviary birds and pigeons. Mineral Block is a clay-based picking stone developed for cage and aviary birds and pigeons. It is a rich source of minerals, trace elements and hard and soft grits. Each mineral block contains a blend of eight graded, palatable grits suspended in a bentonite-clay base to which minerals including calcium, iodine, iron, sulphur and magnesium have been added. The result is a nutritious supplement that birds enjoy eating. Bentonite clay - as recommended by Rosemary Low – is a natural substance rich in trace elements that also inhibits absorption of fungal toxins from the bowel. Mineral Block is readily ingested by finches, particularly Gouldians, and a wide variety of parrots and pigeons. Neophema grass parrot breeders, in particular, report on the way that these birds gnaw at a Mineral Block with relish. Mineral Block is used as a nutritional supplement in the Orange-bellied Parrot Recovery Program. Heat-treated and individually shrink-wrapped, each mineral block brings trace elements and minerals normally found in nature into the aviary in a hygienic, palatable form for the birds. 600 gram block, provide ad-lib. $4.25

Multiboost A water-soluble, vitamin and amino acid supplement. Developed by avian veterinarians for cage and aviary birds, this water soluble, sugar-free supplement contains 11 vitamins and 8 amino acids. Multiboost is an excellent choice as a general supplement where diets are thought to be deficient. Alternatively, Multiboost can be routinely given one day per week as part of a health maintenance program to aid in the prevention of nutritional deficiency. In dilution, Multiboost can also be added to soft foods or soaked or sprouted seed. Multiboost's sugar-free formula decreases the risk of bacterial or fungal growth after application to the food or water. Studies have shown that free-flying birds such as rosellas can consume parts of over 80 different plants and herbs each day. It is difficult for the aviculturist to provide such a wide range of foods and so match the nutritional variety available to the wild bird. A multivitamin supplement, although not an alternative to a complete diet, can help to prevent the development of any deficiency. Specifically formulated to address the needs of finches and parrots, Multiboost is rich in vitamins A, B and E and contains the amino acids known to be low in a dry-seed diet. The amino acids methionine and tryptophan, which Multiboost contains, aid in the formation of the lipoproteins that help to prevent fatty liver. Multiboost is ideal for use in finches, budgerigars, canaries, cockatiels, cockatoos, rosellas, grass parrots and other birds. 200ml resealable bottle. 0.5 to 1ml/1L or 1 drop per 100ml of drinking water. Once in solution Multiboost can also be added to wet mixes and soaked or sprouted seed.  $24.20

Herb Tonic A blend of the herb extracts (human food grade) that have been shown to be of benefit to birds. Contains Echinacea (immune stimulant), dandelion (vitamin A and calcium source), milk thistle (helps liver function), chlorophyll (increased rate of crop emptying), grape fruit seed extract (natural tonic), wheat grass powder and Spirulina (rich source of vitamin A). A super natural tonic of particular benefit for confined birds that do not have the opportunity to forage. 125ml resealable bottle. 2ml per 1L of drinking water.  $19.80

Calcivite Plus A liquid calcium, vitamin D3 and magnesium supplement for cage and aviary birds. Calcivite Plus has been developed by avian veterinarians and aviculturists to

supplement the diets of cage and aviary birds that may be deficient in calcium, vitamin D3 and magnesium. It is ideal for canaries, budgerigars, finches, cockatiels, grass parrots, rosellas, cockatoos and other birds. The calcium in Calcivite Plus is in its proteinated form – ie as it is found in plants and is therefore easier for birds to digest. The vitamin D3 that it contains helps with absorption of calcium from the bowel while magnesium is included because calcium and magnesium levels in the body are related. Calcium levels in the diet affect the magnesium requirement. As the level of calcium in the diet rises, this increases the requirement for magnesium. It is therefore useful to also provide

magnesium in a calcium supplement. The benefits of calcium supplementation when deficient in the diet, particularly during breeding and growth are well-documented. Calcium deficiency can lead to thin bones, poor growth in babies and reproductive problems including soft-shelled eggs, poor quality eggs, egg binding and post-laying paralysis. Calcivite Plus is ideal for addition to drinking water, fruit, wet mixes or soaked or sprouted seed. Its sugar-free formulation decreases the risk of secondary bacterial and fungal contamination after addition to the food and water. Calcivite Plus is clear, fully water-soluble and readily taken by the birds. 250ml bottle with in-built measure. Add 10ml/1L drinking water or 2.5ml per cup of soaked seed. For individual birds the dose is two drop per 100gm body weight. $18.00

Breeding Milk Breeding health supplement. Seed additive. Developed for use during breeding and specifically contains a blend of the vitamins and minerals which are of particular nutritional importance during this time, including calcium, vitamin A, D3 and E. 250ml bottle with in-built measure. Add 5ml per 1kg of seed. $18.50
