All Philippine Medical Colleges are recognized by the MCI. Under Section 4 of MCI Screening Test Regulations2002, dated 13 February 2002; applicants are eligible to give the Screening Test and practice in India after beingeducated in WHO Listed Medical Colleges. i.e. The MCI recognizes all medical colleges listed in the WHO Directory.

Effectively: The MCI directory of Medical Colleges is the WHO Directory. There is no separate MCI list after 2002.The MCI registration process for students going overseas for Medical education is:

a. File for Certificate of Eligibility in India. This can be filed anytime before graduation.

b. On return clear a competency examination named FMGE or Foreign Medical Graduate Examination conductedby the National Board of Examination – New Delhi (know as the MCI screening test) – conducted twice a year.

c. There is NO Limit on number test attempts.

d. If a student is well prepared they pass the FMGE in the 1 attempt. All students who go overseas for MBBS orequivalent degree are to clear this test – no exceptions.

The MCI has recommended to the Govt. of India to hold a Competency Test for all students who do MBBS in India aswell. If approved then ALL students will have to give a licensing / registration Exam – irrespective of whether theywere educated in India or overseas. This is expected to be implemented between 2013 to 2017

: After students are Registered with the Medical Council of India, they are eligible for jobs in India in theprivate and Government sectors. They are eligible for independent or private practice. They are also eligible foradmission to Post Graduate courses in India in Government and private medical Colleges.

MD or Doctor of Medicine, called

MBBS in India. MCI gives MBBS registration in India

as will UK, Singapore and Gulf authorities. In USA you

will get a MD certification. What is known as MBBS in

India and other commonwealth countries is called MD

in the USA and in The Philippines.

patterned on USA. This gives a strong Advantage to

medical professionals educated in the Philippines

Students can go for clerkship

rotations (internship rotations) to the USA from the

Philippines. Some colleges have tie ups for this. Else

students can source out their own rotations and get

Course duration for those with 12 years of Schooling is 5 years 4 months.

The first 12 - 16 months is pre-medical course which runs from November onwards. This gives students a Bachelors Degree.

Then they join the Medical course commences each year from June to March each year which is a 4 year program. 3 years of theory + 1

year of rotating clerkship /internship in a hospital.

Students get a double degree – BS + MD (equal to MBBS in India).

Students need to clear regular weekly and semester examinations in Philippines.

On return to India they have to clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination also known as the MCI Screening Test.

Competent students, good in studies, motivated to study medicine, with good education record, passionate about sciences are

encouraged to apply. Students should be able to read and write and speak ENGLISH properly as the entire course is in English medium.

: Students with a minimum of two or three year full time Bachelors Degree or

Diploma in a medical or medical related subject – such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Medical Lab Technician, B.Sc in Biology,

BAMS, BUMS, biotechnology etc which is equal to a pre-medical course are eligible to apply for direct admission to the 4 year medical

course which commences in June each year. In addition they should have passed class 11 and 12 from a recognized board with Physics,

Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology.

Students should apply before January in the year of admission and submit both the mark or grade sheet and a copy of the Degree or

Diploma for approval by the University. After the University approves the pre-medical, they have to give the NMAT test in the Philippines.

Registration for the NMAT is usually in the Month of January – February each year and the Examination is held in the month of March / April

in the Philippines -

Students applying for 4 year medical course will go to the Philippines and give the NMAT in March / April. Join the course in June.

b. Students with Nursing, BHMS, BAMS sometimes want 1-3 years course waiver. This is not possible. Under MCI rules: Students need to

complete the entire course from one institute. So join 1 year and finish 4 year. In other countries you need to study for 6 years. In

the Philippines you need to study for only 4 years to get your degree if you already have a bachelor degree or diploma which is

equivalent to the pre-medical course in the Philippines

: Students have to give the FMGE (commonly known as the MCI Screening test); comply with MCI process to register. Once

Registered - they are eligible to apply for Government jobs in India and to join Post graduate courses in India.

: After clearing USMLE and complying with all other norms – you can apply for registration in USA. Students are eligible for

Bachelors / Premedical: A 16 month pre medical course in biology, psychology, nursing or medical technology which prepares students for

the MBBS / MD course. Students who have 12 years of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology can enroll in this program. This gives

students a Bachelors (BA or BS) Degree.

MD / MBBS course: The four-year medical course generally progresses from the study of normal to abnormal human being. It is a yearly

course in two semesters per year. Students who have done a pre-medical course in the Philippines or elsewhere can enroll this program.

The first year covers the normal Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Preventive Medicine & Community health, Psychiatry and

Medical Practice I. Class lectures are delivered mostly through computers using LCD projectors complemented by slide/ film showing,

laboratory work and group discussions. Pedagogy and Bioethics are incorporated in Principles of Medical Practice I. An introduction to

medical Informatics is incorporated in Preventive Medicine and Community Health before the biostatistics session. Problem-based

learning is gradually introduces in certain topics in Biochemistry and Physiology.

The second year deals with Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, Psychiatry

II and Medical Economics plus introductory courses in clinical subjects. In small groups, students begin to meet patients in actual hospital

setting where they are introduced to history taking and physical examination.

The third year involves didactic lectures on common diseases encountered in clinical practice as well as interesting or rare conditions.

Pathophysiology is reviewed while clinical features, diagnostic approaches and principles of management are emphasized.

The fourth year or clinical clerkship/internship is spent in actual patient care. Hospital rounds and group discussions give the student a

good perspective on bedside manners, diagnosis and management. The clerks rotate through the different clinical departments for 48

weeks with periodic evaluation.

ii. Students who do not have a passport should first apply for a passport and then apply for a PCC for Philippines letter from the

passport office.

iii. Students should open a Bank Account and get a credit card and an international debit card issued.

iv. The Passport should be valid for at least 1 year

v. Students should get a letter or certificate from the School / College last attended of “good moral character”

vi. Make 50 passport photos of the face with a white background – size is: 2x2 inches - less than 6 months old.

Submit Before 10 October of Year of Admission

a. Submit fee for visa / tickets etc. By Demand Draft – payable to “National Vidya Foundation” and payable in Kolkata.

b. TWO Copies of Bank statement to be stamped & signed by the Bank for the last 6 months of the student (original Bank stamp to

be on the statement)

c. Two Copies of Bank statement to be stamped & signed by the Bank for the last 6 months of the PARENT (with original Bank

stamp)

Note: Either parents or students Bank should have a minimum balance of Rs 400,000

d. Photocopy of the front of the CREDIT CARD of the Student (delete the last 4 numbers of the card)

e. Two photocopies of the Students PAN Card & Income Tax return – if available

f. Two photocopies of the PARENTS Pan card + last income tax return.

g. Two affidavits of financial support for the student signed by the parents.

h. Four (4) photographs – passport size of the students face with a white background.

i. Completed passport application form for Philippines – signed & complete in all respects.

j. Original passport valid for at least 6 months

k. “PCC for Philippine” letter from Passport office

l. Original class 12 mark sheet

m. Original class 12 pass certificate

n. Philippines Visa application form complete in all respects

o. Letter of Authority for Agent to file for visa.

1. Applicant and guardians should read and understand terms and conditions. If they need any clarity, they should discuss withNational Vidya Foundation before filling up and submitting the Registration form.

Applicant and their guardians should be aware that eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS for Indian students is 50% in PCB(40% for SC/ST/OBC), pass in English and overall pass in class 12th Board Exam as prescribed by the Medical Council of India(MCI). Applicant should satisfy themselves that they meet the MCI eligibility criteria and changes in such criteria by MCI isautomatically binding onApplicant/s.

3. Applicant will submit original documents for verification / processing when called on to do so.

4. Applicant will make his own arrangement for issue of passport in time in order to travel overseas.

6. Applicant/Guardians will pay fees payable in India by DEMAND DRAFT only payable to "National Vidya Foundation" andpayable at KOLKATA. . No claims will beentertained by National Vidya Foundation for any payment other than as prescribed above. Fees to the University is payableoverseas.

7. If any false or misleading information provided by an Applicant, retains the right to proceed againstsuch applicant. Liability for false information rests solely with theApplicant.

8. Students are admitted on the condition they will be governed by the rules and regulations of the University, the Country andagreements between the University and its associates and National Vidya Foundation and theApplicant.

10. National Vidya Foundation does NOT guarantee to the applicant, the completion of the course in the University. This depends onthe policies of the Institution and the performance of the applicant in class and in examinations.

12. Annual fees are to be paid to the University before due dates. Applicant should find out the date and deposit dues in time elsethey can be denied admission or deported.

13. For matters not specifically mentioned here, the decision of National Vidya Foundation will be final and binding upon theapplicant and their parents / legal guardians.

14. All disputes are subject to Howrah jurisdiction only.

5. Fees & Refund : Fees in India are collected as:a. Initial Registration fee is Rs. 10,000 is payable with this form.b. Refund of Rs. 10,000/- is possible if sought by September 30th of the year of admission in writing. Refunds will be made

in the month of December of the same year.c. If applicant moves beyond registration and pays application and/or processing fees then NO refund is possible.d. Fees paid overseas: NO refunds are possible.

Admission, Visa Responsibilities, Costs & Claims: No claims will be entertained by National Vidya Foundation or its associatesfrom any applicant or their guardian/s for costs of application, non attendance to University or losing a year of education etc.National Vidya Foundation is responsible for admission in the University and documentation guidance only. Obtaining passportin time, visa clearance, passing visa interview, getting MCI Certificate of Eligibility, passing passport control etc. are theresponsibility of the Applicant. Any delays due to afore-mentioned or travel delay, ticketing / flight delay, act of god or nature orwar or change in Government policy are not the responsibility or liability of National Vidya Foundation.
