1. TITLEOFTHEDEGREEThis degree shall be titled as Master in Business Administration (MBA) with the mention of Major
Specialization inthebracketasMBA (Majorspecialization).Thisnewcurriculashall beeffective from July
2009.
2. DURATIONTheregularFullTimeCourseshallbeof2Yearsduration;comprisingof4SemestersthroughTheorypapers,
Sessional, Practical, Project report, Vivavoce, and such other Continuous Evaluation Systems as may be
prescribed,inthisrespect,fromtimetotime.
3. ELIGIBILITYFORADMISSIONAsperadmissionruleframedbytheGovernmentofMaharashtra.
4. PATTERN3.1. Thesuggestedcurriculumcomprises32papers;ofthese30papersareCreditcoursesand2papersare
QualifyingNonCreditcourses.Similarlythereshallbe10functionalelectivepapersasbelow:
Majorspecialization:8papersofMajorfunctionalelective,ofwhichfor1paperthestudenthasto
undergoSummerInternshipProjectforminimumperiodof7weeks.
Minorspecialization:
2papers
as
aMinor
specialization
from
the
list
other
than
opted
for
Major
specialization.
ThestudenthastooptforonespecializationasMajorspecializationcomprising8papersandanother
specialization(otherthantheMajorSpecializationsubjectselected)asMinorspecialization,comprising
2papers,fromthespecifiedlistofsubjectsforMajor/Minorspecialization,forIIIrd
andIVth
semester.
3.2. Eachsemesterwillhave8papersof100markseach,thuscomprising3200marksfortheDegree.Outofthe32papers,PaperNo.108and208shallbeonlyQualifyingNonCreditcourses.Studenthastopass
these papers for qualifying for the Degree; however, the score obtained in these papers shall not be
givenweightage
for
awarding
Final
Credit
or
Class
Award.
3.3. The external assessment shall be based on external written examination to be conducted by theuniversityattheendoftheeachsemester.

3.4. ThestudentshallnotbeallowedtoappearforthesemesterexaminationunlesstheHead/DirectoroftheUniversityDepartment/InstitutioncertifiescompletionofInternalwork,regularity,practicaletc.The
institution/UniversityDepartmentshallsubmitalongwiththiscertificateInternalmarkstotheCOEof
theUniversity.
3.5. CGPAsystemasdevisedbytheUniversityshallbeapplicable.3.6. Continuous evaluation of the students shall comprise the 60+40 pattern; where every paper of 100
marks,shall
be
divided
as
External
evaluation
of
60
marks
and
Internal
continuous
assessment
of
40
marks.
3.7. ContinuousInternalassessmentcomprises3.5.1. TwoClasstestsof10MarkseachTotal20Marks3.5.2. 15 Marks for Classroom Paper Presentation, Research Paper Presentations at State Seminars,
Research Paper Presentations at National Seminars, Publications in Journals, Practicals
(Computer related courses), Presentations of Case Study, Group Discussions, Book Review,
Surveyetc.inrelatedsubjects(atleastTHREEactivitieshavetobecompletedbythestudentper
semesterper
paper
to
be
supervised
and
guided
by
the
concerned
teacher).
3.5.3. 5 Marks for Active participation in Event Management, Industrial Visit, Placement Activities,InstitutionalBrandingActivities.
5. PASSINGSTANDARDS5.1. Inordertopasstheexaminationthecandidatehastoobtain50%marks in aggregate&at least40%
marks for each head separately, that is 24 marks out of 60 (External) & 16 marks out of 40 marks
(Internal)forallcoursesincludingforQualifyingNonCredit Courses.
5.2. ThestudentshallbeallowedtokeepthetermsofthenextyearaspertheUniversityrules.6. GUIDELINESFORTEACHING
6.1. Thereshallbeatleast50lecturehourspersemesterpercourse.Thedurationofthelecturesshallbe60minuteseach.Thereshallbeatleast1416weeksofteachingbeforecommencementofexaminationof
respectivesemester.
6.2. Thereshallbe4lectures/week/paper.6.3. Thesemesterworkloadisbalancedwith8fullpapersof100markseach/semester.Thus400lectures
hours
are
considered
for
teaching
sessions
and
50
lecture
/
sessions
shall
be
used
for
continuous
assessment.
6.4. Selfstudyshallbenaturalrequirementbesidethetimetable.TheFacultywillhavetoexertalittleextraforcultivatingreadinghabitsamongstthestudents.

6.5. The teaching method shall comprise a mix of Lectures, Seminars, Group discussions, Brain storming,Game playing, Interactions with Executives etc. so as to prepare the students to face the global
challenges as business executive for this Audiovisual aids and Practical field work should be a major
sourceofacquiringknowledge.
6.6. Case study method preferably shall be used wherever possible for the better understanding of thestudents.
6.7. Each instituteshall issue annualsouveniraswellasaplacementbrochureseparatelytoeach studentandacopyofthesameshallbesubmittedtotheuniversitybeforetheendoftheyear.
7. PRACTICALTRAININGANDSUMMERINTERNSHIPPROJECT7.1. Each student shall have to undergo a practical training for a period of not less than 7 weeks during
vacationfallingaftertheendoffirstyear.
7.2. In the Fourth semester examination student were to do Project Work individually on the basis ofMajorspecialization. Nogroupwork is allowed inthis. Thetopic shouldbedecidedwithconsultation
andguidance
of
Internal
teacher
of
the
Institute
at
the
end
of
the
first
year,
so
that
the
student
can
take
up the training during the vacations. The Project should be necessarily Research oriented, Innovative
and Problem solving. No teacher shall be entrusted with more than 15 students for guidance and
supervision.
7.3. Thedepartments/ instituteshallsubmitthedetailed listofcandidatewithProjectTitles,nameoftheorganization, internalguide&functionalelectivetotheuniversityonorbefore31
stJulyofthesecond
year.
7.4. Thestudenthastowriteareportbasedontheactualtrainingundergoneduringthevacationsatthespecific
selected
business
enterprise,
get
it
certified
by
the
concerned
teacher
that
the
Project
report
hasbeensatisfactorilycompletedandsubmitTHREEtypedcopiesofthesametotheHead/Directorof
theinstitute.
7.5. TwocopiesofthereportsubmittedbythestudentshallbeforwardedtotheUniversitybytheInstitutebefore31
stJanuary.
7.6. The project work will carry maximum 100 marks, of which internal teacher shall award marks out ofmaximum 40 marks on the basis of project work done by the student as a continuous assessment.
Remaining marks shall be awarded out of maximum 60 marks by examining the student during Viva
voce,by
the
panel
of
the
external
examiners
to
be
appointed
by
the
University.
7.7. NostudentswillbepermittedtoappearforVivavoceandSemesterIVexaminations,unlessanduntil(s)hesubmitstheprojectreportbeforethestipulatedtime.

8. ADDITIONALMAJORSPECIALIZATION8.1. ThestudentwhohaspassedMBAofthisUniversitywithaspecificMajorspecializationmaybeallowed
toappearforMBAexaminationagain,withotherMajorspecializationbykeepingtermfortheIIIrd
and
IVth
semesterforthesoopted8papersofadditionalMajorspecialization.Hehastoappearfor8papers
includingProjectreportoftheadditionalMajorspecializationsoopted.
8.2. HeshallbegivenexemptionforallotherpapersincludingMinorspecialization.8.3. ThestudenthastopayonlyTuitionfeesforoneyearasmaybeprescribedfromtimetotimeforthis
purpose.
8.4. The student is not entitled to receive separate Degree Certificate or Class for this additional Majorspecialization.
9. STRUCTUREOFTHEQUESTIONPAPER9.1. Eachquestionpapershallbeof60marksandof3hoursduration.9.2. For Theory papers there will be 2 Sections. In section I a candidate shall be required to answer 3
questions

9.3. For Composite papers (theory and practical / problems) there will be 2 sections. In section I(practical/problem)astudentshallberequiredtoanswer3questionsoutof5questions&insectionII
(Theory) (s)he shall be required to answer 2 questions out of 3 questions. All questions shall carry
equalmarksi.e.12markseach.
9.4. For papers including case studies there shall be 2 Sections. In Section I (Theory) a student shall berequiredtoanswer3questionsoutof5questions&inSectionII(Casestudies)2caseStudiesoutof3
casestudies

All

i.e.
