And so it was that Christian parents brought NINE children to be baptized into the Triune name of God on May 5th, 2013 here at Peace Lutheran Church! Of the 9 children, 6 are students at The Lutheran Academy and there were two cousins and one brother! Please pray for each of these children and their families that they can grow up in the true faith and in the family of God! Please pray because there are another EIGHT children that congregational members know of who need baptism. How many more do YOU know of?

THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, The Meaning of the Third Article of the Apostle's Creed by Martin Luther:

I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true.

Please come and support our young students! They will be sharing different eras of Western music down through the centuries, as well as memorized dramatic readings of Bible passages and poems! Awards will also be given out!

The last day of classes for our Academy is June 17th! Please pray for our students and teachers as we scramble to accomplish everything we need to before then!

(above) Sandra (Schulze) was joined in Holy Marriage to Colin McHugh here at Peace Lutheran Church April 20, 2013. It was a beautiful time for everyone!

We are also looking forward to Megan Mercer and her marriage to Ross Merieski on July 27th!

What a wonderful gift marriage is and we pray as Christians that it would be honored by all according to His divine creative design! We pray also that they would be the beautiful place where our children would be nurtured in the one true faith!

Ladies Guild/LWML News!

Lutheran Women's Missionary League Spring Rally was here at PEACE LUTHERAN on SATURDAY, MAY 4TH!The ladies of our congregation served almost 50 women (and men!) from our area congregations! The topic of study for the day was the very important topic of Creation/Evolution debate! It was a blessed day!

IT IS NOT TO LATE TO SIGN UP FOR THE LWML JUNE NATIONAL CONVENTION: you can still join the Bjornstad family and Audrey and 4000 other women from around the country this June 27-30 in Pittsburgh!!!! See the latest LWML quarterly magazine at the back table for more information!

UPDATE ON PASTOR NAVEEN NISCHALL and his family. Pastor Nischall is still hoping to come to Scranton and work here with Pastor Bjornstad, hoping to do outreach to the East Indian/Asian population, however he has decided to delay that move until his son can finish the school year out! Please continue to pray that God's will be done here in Scranton!

We do need to reach out to others, but at the same time we still need to see to the needs of our own congregation.

I love the whole place. When I think of home, this is where I want to be. I love the people, the family that I have in the whole church, I love the way I have grown spiritually with the church as I have grown, and I love the place and the part I have within it. Thank you!

Peace Lutheran is warm in their welcoming.They care and want to know about everyones feelings before they make a decision.

Really liked the Couples dinners we used to have. Would be interested in reviving them if there is other interest. Appreciate support from church so my child can attend the Academy. WE cant wait to be in a position to pay the full tuiton ourselves. Youth night is a fabulous addition for our young kids.

Church in my opinion, from a non member appears to be vibrant and welcoming... Very nice indeed.

UNIVERSITY GRADUATIONS: Alison McHale, Ky Betts, and Robert Herie all graduated from Marywood on Mothers Day, May 9th! Elizabeth Mirarchi graduated from Penn State, and Joshua Schulze graduated from Keystone College! Praise the Lord!

Hannah Bjornstad and the whole Bjornstad family was so blessed to share their music with so many of our congregational members and friends on April 28th! Hannah appreciates the support of her further musical training at the Lutheran Summer Festival in Iowa this coming month of July! Almost $600 was given in the free will offering and we all say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! That will go a long way toward her tuition!
