“It is Not the Bread-It is Jesus”

May 2, 2020 Dr. Roger Ball

[email protected]

This past week did you face any conflicts, problems or obstacles which left you feeling weak or stressed? Good chance you did or you know someone who did. Why did Jesus say we should pray every day, “Give us this day our daily bread”? Does this refer only to “food”? Or more than food? If Yes, what other needs does it include? Why does Jesus say pray to the Father every day, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” What did Jesus mean when He said. “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”?

#1 - Probably, you faced at least one of these _______________ problems this last week.

A Few Life Problems

1. Frustration at _____________________

2. Hurtful __________________

3. _______________ and _______________ abuse

4. Irrational __________________

5. Trauma from ______________________

6. A shortage of _________________

• Why did Jesus command us to pray the Lord’s Prayer? Matthew 6:9-13

• Why did Jesus say ask God every day for today’s bread?

Jesus says …

#2 - People seek “Khortadzo-Satisfaction” to solve their _____________.

John 6:26 - Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.”

• What does Khortadzo mean?

• How did Jesus meet their needs?

• What kind of basic needs do you have?

Page 11: May 3, 2020s3.amazonaws.com/production.sermons.io/fbctempe/...2020/04/30  · May 3, 2020 The Purpose of FBC . . . For Our Guests . . . Accept, love and challenge people with God’s

John 6:27 - “Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man shall give to you, for on Him the Father, even God, has set His seal.”

#3 - Jesus said you must go __________________ “Khortadzo-Satisfaction”.

• Don’t purse food that perishes.

• But we need to eat.

• What should be your first priority?

• Remember Jesus gave them fish and bread.

John 6:28 - Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”

• We want to do miracles to meet our needs like Jesus did

John 6:29 - Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

• When the job loss comes we need more than a miracle we need Jesus.

• Go beyond the miracle physical bread … because being full will not solve all your needs.

John 6:29 - Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

#4 - Meat and bread does not give you long term ____________ and _______________.

John 6:30 - So they said to Him, “What then do You do for a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work do You perform? (31) Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘HE GAVE

THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.’”

• They want Jesus to give them only physical bread.

• After doing miracles Jesus came right out and said when will you every be satisfied.

John 6:32 - Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. (33) For the bread of God is [a]that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” (34) Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” (35) Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

Page 12: May 3, 2020s3.amazonaws.com/production.sermons.io/fbctempe/...2020/04/30  · May 3, 2020 The Purpose of FBC . . . For Our Guests . . . Accept, love and challenge people with God’s

• What does, “Give of this day our daily bread” mean?

• Physical bread provided by _______________.

• Spiritual bread from _________________.

John 6:36 - But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. (37) All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

#5 - No true hunger satisfaction, no true thirst satisfaction unless you “__________ and ___________” in ____________.

John 6:35 - Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. (36) But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. (37) All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out

• This means?

John 6:38 - For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. (39) This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.

• This means?

John 6:40 - For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

#6 - Six Bread of Life “I Am” Promises.

John 6:35 - Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

• Six “I AM” Promises

1. I am promising never to frustrate you but only offer _________________________.

2. I am promising never to use abusive words only words of ____________________________.

3. I am promising never to lead you to substance abuse but ___________________.

4. I am promising not to create irrational fear but _________________________.

5. I am promising not to cause any ____________________.

6. I am promise to be your ____________________.
