Notice of Public Hearing Proposed Road Closure Bylaw No. 2021-08 The Town of Olds intends, pursuant to Section 22 of the Municipal Government Act, to consider a bylaw to close from public use a portion of the street illustrated below. The portion of street is located on the north side of 46 Street (Highway 27) at 57 Avenue. The closure of this portion of street is being proposed in order to accommodate the development of Lot 1, Block 8, Plan 2183 JK (The Brick) directly to the north, and to obtain service road dedication along the lane. Anyone who wishes to speak at the Public Hearing is encouraged to pre-register to speak no later than Friday May 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm by emailing [email protected] or by calling 403-556-6981. Once you have entered the meeting you will need to identify yourself with the Clerk who will inform you when to participate. The style of the hearing will be informal and persons wishing to speak will be requested to state their name and address for the record upon being recognized by the Chair. Pursuant to Section 311 (1) of the Municipal Government Act, the 2021 Combined Assessment and Taxation Notices for the Town of Olds were mailed on or before May 19, 2021. Any property owner who does not receive his/her Combined Assessment & Taxation Notice within a reasonable amount of time should contact the Town Office for a copy.

The Combined Assessment & Taxation Notice contains important information regarding assessment appeal procedures. Operator I - Parks and FacilitiesThe Town of Olds has an opening for a full time Operator I – Parks & Facilities. Reporting

to the Supervisor- Sportsplex or Supervisor - Parks depending on the season, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the daily operation and maintenance of the Sportsplex and parks systems. Summer duties include maintaining sports fields, green spaces, trees/shrubs, flower gardens, outdoor facilities, and playgrounds in accordance with Town of Olds policies and applicable legislated standards. During the winter working at the Olds Sportsplex, duties include maintenance of ice surfaces, driving an Olympia Ice Bear, refrigeration plant and HVAC checks, facility maintenance, custodial duties, and sidewalk snow removal at Town of Olds facilities.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent, a valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license, a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate, basic building trade skills related to recreation facility maintenance, and the ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public. Candidates with Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel Level 1 Arena Operator course, prior experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and ice re-surfacer operation and/or Parks and Sports Field courses may be given preference.

Compensation is based on a 40-hour work week. Rotational Stand-by, weekends, day and night shift work are required. A criminal record check, including vulnerable sectors and a current driver’s abstract will be required before an offer of employment will be made.

Supervisor - Public WorksThe Town of Olds has an opening for a full time Supervisor – Public Works. Reporting

to the Manager of Operations, this position is responsible for overseeing the year-round maintenance, and improvement of the roadways, sidewalks, trails and traffic related signage and signals within the Town of Olds. This position will focus on supervising, coordinating, and planning the maintenance of the hard surface infrastructure of our community (roadways, sidewalks, and pathways) and operating some pieces of equipment that may include but are not limited to skid steer, front end loader, street sweeper, snowplow and snowblower. The incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of all aspects of the daily operation and maintenance of the Public Works department, which includes five positions year-round and seasonal staff as required.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent, a valid Class 3 Alberta driver’s license with air endorsement, a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate. Experience operating in heavy equipment such as Graders, Front-end Loaders etc. Five years of municipal experience, two of which should be at the supervisory level. Level 1 Public Works Supervisor Certificate would be an asset.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered to meet the requirements of the position.

Compensation is based on a 40-hour work week and includes benefits. Rotational Stand-by, and some possible seasonal weekend shifts are required. A current driver’s abstract will be required before an offer of employment will be made.

The Town of Olds has an opening for a full time Facilities Maintenance person. Reporting to the Facility Technician, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Facility Technician in completing preventive and emergency maintenance at all Town facilities.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent, a valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license, a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate, basic building trade skills (plumbing, carpentry or electrical), and the ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public. A Fifth Class Power Engineer Certificate and Alberta Recreation Facilities Personnel Courses in Building Maintenance Level 1 and 2 would be assets.

Utilities AdministratorThe Town of Olds invites applications for a full-time position of Utilities Administrator.

Everyday this position interacts with people seeking information on water, sewer, garbage, and recycling within the Town of Olds. Working with the Diamond Municipal Software the Utilities Administrator is responsible for the entire utilities cycle from setting up utilities’ accounts, to billing through to payment and possible collections. As part of a team, this position has customer service responsibilities at the front counter on the phones and alternates monthly with the daily cash out duties.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent, the candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Previous experience in utility billing or in a municipal setting and using Microsoft Dynamics GP or Diamond Municipal Software would be an asset.
