“Our Faith, Our Future”
School News
There will be no school Monday, May 29th in honor of
Memorial Day.
If you have not registered yet, please do so as soon as
possible. Your spot is not guaranteed until you have
registered and paid your fees.
Please mark your calendars that the last day of the school
year is Thursday, June 1st. We will have an 11:00 Dismissal.
This is updated from what is on the calendar; so please note
the change. There will be no bus service available at
dismissal.
The last day to take an AR Test will be tomorrow, Friday,
May 26 until the summer AR dates.
All students who will be in the 7th grade for the coming
school year are required by state law to have one dose of
Meningococcal vaccine and Tdap. Please turn in
documentation to the office showing that your child has
received these medications.
Please stop by school during the next week or have your child
look through the items on the table outside the cafeteria for
any Lost and Found items that may belong to you. All left
items will be donated after school is out.
Students will not receive final report cards until tuition is paid.
Please see the attached letter from Mrs. Willmes regarding
staff changes for next school year.
School summer office hours will be 8am until noon through
June 16th. The office will then be closed for summer break.
We will resume those hours again on August 1st
Students may not return to school in the fall if ALL tuition for
this current school year has not been paid.
We will not be posting the homeroom assignment lists for the
next school year since there is only one classroom per grade.
As the 2016-17 school year draws to a close, we just want to
take this opportunity to thank all of our students for working
so hard this year. You should be very proud of your
accomplishments. Parents, we couldn’t do this without your
cooperation and support, so thank you for being there for us
and for your children. We appreciate all of you for entrusting
your children to our care and we thank you for choosing to
send your children to St. Teresa!
We wish all of you a fun, relaxing and safe summer! See you
in August!
No School on Monday, May 29th in honor
of Memorial Day.
Congratulations and Our Very Best
Wishes to the St. Teresa of Avila Class
of 2017!
Summer AR Opportunities! This summer there will be three different
opportunities for your students to take AR
tests at school. Those Wednesdays will be:
June 21, July 5 and July 19 from 11:00 – Noon. Students should
enter the school by the courtyard back porch door and go down the
steps to the library. So plan on spending some of your summer
traveling through books and come in and take those AR tests!
Hope to see you there!

THE BRUIN BULLETIN St. Teresa of Avila
Gratitude Corner
Big thanks to Mrs. Beckman and all of the parent
volunteers who helped with this year’s Field Day. It was
another beautiful day of fun and memories.
Thanks to Mrs. Morris for all of her work in making the
eighth grade graduation so beautiful.
Thanks to our Parish Secretary, Mrs. Glandorf; our
Financial Director, Mrs. Buckner; to Deacon Gregg Rose
and Musical Director, Mr. Davis for all they do for the
school all through the year.
A huge thanks to Mrs. Hingsbergen and Mrs. Feldman for
taking care of all of the many people they come in contact
with; the students, the parents, the teachers and Mrs.
Willmes! They help with smiles on their faces and love in
their hearts!
Thanks to all of our awesome teachers who have made
this another great year of learning. They not only instruct
our students, give guidance and form minds, but they truly
care about them. We are so blessed to have them at St.
Teresa School.
Thanks to Mr. Thoman, Mr. Grothaus and Mr. Zigelmier
for all they do to keep our school looking good inside and
out. They help with special projects, clean up our messes
and take good care of us throughout the year.
Thanks to Fr. Mike Bidwell for his spiritual leadership,
support of the school, the students and parents and all in
the St. Teresa community. He is always brightening days
with his cheerful smile and great laugh!
Incredible thanks to our principal, Mrs. Willmes. She is
dedicated to our students, our parents, our faculty and
staff. She has a generous heart and is always willing to
share her gifts whenever and wherever she is able. She is
dedicated to making St. Teresa a school we can all be
proud of.
Lastly, we thank all of our incredible volunteers, our
parents and grandparents, who volunteer in so many
capacities throughout the school year. You are a true
blessing to our school and we are very grateful for your
help and involvement.

Also, summer may present the perfect time to continue "safety"
conversations with children. If you haven't read the "TEACHING
TOUCHING SAFETY GUIDE" within the Virtus website; it is
easy to access and contains really good information. It can help
you discuss difficult material with your children while providing
tips and confidence to you. To access this: Go to your Virtus
account. Under the "toolbox" tab you will see "Teaching Touching
Safety Guide" listed in the column as the third one down the list.
Check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Dear Parents,
As the 2016-17 school year draws to a close, I just want to take this opportunity to thank all of
our students for working so hard this year. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.
Eighth graders, you led the school well and were great role models for our younger students. We
will miss you! Parents, we couldn’t do this without your cooperation and support so thank you
for being there for us and for your children. We appreciate all of you for entrusting your
children to our care and we thank you for choosing to send your children to St. Teresa!
We have a few staff members who will not be returning to St. Teresa of Avila School for the
2017-18 school year. As many of you know, Mrs. Ellen McGrath, Mrs. Judy Honkomp and Mrs.
Melinda Maier will be retiring. We wish them well after their many, many years of service!
Mrs. Dabney Cogdell, our Jon Peterson Intervention Specialist and Mrs, Jan Mecklenborg, our
Jon Peterson Speech/Language Pathologist, will not be returning since we will no longer be
offering the Jon Peterson program next year due to lack of students.
We would like to welcome Mrs. Debbie Faillace who will be our new third grade teacher. Mrs.
Faillace has taught at Resurrection School for 23 years with quite a few years in third grade. Mr.
Jim Herbe will be our new technology coordinator/computer teacher. Jim comes to us from Holy
Family School where he filled this same position. Finally, the new full-time blended learning
site manager that will be with us for two years helping us with the program is Daphne Rees.
Daphne has taught 2nd grade, 5th grade ELA and 6/7/8 Math and Science. She completed her
Bachelors at the University of Notre Dame and this year, her Masters at Carnegie Mellon
University. She is a native of South Louisiana, but has lived many places. She is excited to
settle in Cincinnati with her 5 year old daughter and she is very excited to meet her St. Teresa
family soon!
School will resume August 17, 2017. As you know, we will begin our blended learning program!
It will be a very exciting year!
Have a safe and relaxing summer!
Sincerely,
Sharon Willmes
