FOCUS ON TODAY’S READINGS

The Apostles Creed states: "He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the

Father Almighty..." This historic event of Jesus happened forty days after His resurrection. What

does it mean for the church? Dr. Luke in Acts records the details of this event; Luke's gospel

records it as well. Paul in the Ephesians 4 reading teaches the practical reality of Christ's ascension,

"And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church," (Eph. 1:22). Christ now reigns everywhere in full power but especially in and through His church through

the Word and the Holy Sacrament.

Our Lord Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” - Luke 18:16

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of the Church

P God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of the trumpet. Ascended Lord, hear the prayers of Your people and grant our supplication. Brief silence That the Lord may grant us all things in Christ so we may be sustained in trial, strengthened in

+ Building Healthy Families While Staying Home: Are

you looking for ways to fill your child’s extra time at home with positive, Godly activities each day? What’s simpler than a piece of paper hanging on the fridge? Not much! That’s why a “living” prayer list is super easy to do. Engaging the whole family to decide who to pray for helps take the focus off our own worries and helps focus on what we can do for others. Add a new name, or group of people (like nurses), each day at dinner time. In addition to your regular dinner prayer, include the newest prayer list addition. Remind your children to pray throughout the day and before they go to bed for all the names and groups of people on the living prayer list and encourage their growing prayer life by teaching them the words of 1 John

+Caring Connection Task Force update: in this

space we've been sharing information about how we can respond to what we are facing during this pandemic. A short list of those efforts included phone calls, praying the requests received and placed on the Prayer Cross, along with palm branches, Easter lilies, freezer meals, and face masks delivered to members and others connected to our congregational ministry.

What's next? We'd like to encourage you to keep reaching out to one another, to your neighbors, co-workers, and friends. Galatians 6:10 "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." What does this mean? Keep phoning one another. Keep responding to the material and spiritual needs of others, and if you discover those needs are greater than you can handle, contact a member of the Task Force and we'll partner with you to help meet that need. If you are facing a particular need yourself, please also reach out to us and we'll work to provide what you need.
