FNSS

Lifesaving Program

The Lifesaving Program offered by the Northern Rockies

Regional Municipality and FNSS is an in-school program

designed to take students through all levels of

certification in becoming a lifeguard. This program will

take two blocks in the first semester and upon

completion, each student will receive 8 credits towards

graduation and be fully qualified to become a lifeguard!

Who is it for? What will we learn? What do we do?

Within one semester, each students will go

through the following levels of certification:

Bronze Medallion

Bronze Cross

Standard First Aid/CPR/AED

NLS

Due to the nature of this program and certi-

fication requirements, 100% attendance is

required or students will not be permitted to

pass each level. If students plan to miss a

lot of school or are unable to commit to the

entire program they should rethink this

opportunity. The instructors will do their

best to work with students who have

missed due to illness.

For details on what each ticket entails,

please feel free to call the Aquatic

Coordinator at 250-774-2359.

The instructors want to see each individual

achieve their goal so if students come with

a positive attitude and a willingness to work

hard they will be successful.

During course selections for

September 2013, please add your

name to the interest list and select the

Lifesaving Program as an alternate

choice.

If you have any questions about the

course, please contact the Aquatic

Coordinator at 250-774-2359 or the

Recreation Program Manager at

250-774-2541 ext 2082. If you have

questions about how you can fit this

into your schedule, please contact

Mrs. Denise Stephenson or Mrs.

Lynne MacNeil at FNSS at 250-774-

6958.

The program must have 6 people to

run and the maximum number of

students allowed is 12.

Students in grades 11 & 12 (you

must be 16 years old by the final

day of the first semester)

Students who wish to gain the

skills needed to find gainful

employment anywhere in BC

Students who have a background

in swimming and a love of the

water (however you do not have to

be a swimmer to do this program -

the very talented lifeguards will

help you improve your strokes)

Students who want to take

advantage of this free opportunity

to further their careers, regardless

of whether or not this fits into their

long-term goals

Students who are willing to work

hard and have fun while earning 8

high school credits!
