Goods and Service Tax Seminar

Indian Paint & Coang Associaon,Maharashtra Region.

GST is one of the boldest reforms in post independence India. Goods and service Tax will facilitate the movement of c o m m o d i e s a n d l e a d t o expansion of economic acvity. It will not only aid the ease of doing business but also re-engineer business process of c o m p a n i e s . T h e G S T w i l l facilitate "Make in India" by "Making One India." With guaranteed implementaon of GST from 1st July`2017 this seminar was aptly med and relevant.

The seminar which was aended

by more than 185 delegates started at 4.00 PM. Mr. Nishit Mehta the convenor for the event welcomed the delegates. He invited the Chairman Mr. Jaydeep Nagrecha on the dias. The chairman in his speech stressed the importance of the seminar. He informed the m e m b e r s t h a t p r o p e r understanding of the GST act will help in beer compliance of the law. He requested the members to ask detailed quesons to take maximum benefit of the session.

T h e n M r. N i s h i t M e h t a introduced the speaker Mr. Parth

Shah from M/s. S. B. Gabhawalla & Co. Mr. Parth is an expert in the GST law. Having held numerous seminars he is capable of answering a wide range of industry specific queries as related to GST seminar.

He started with a confirmaon t h a t G S T w i l l s u r e l y b e implemented on 1st July`2017. There would be three taxes namely CGST & SGST for Intra-state sales. For inter-state transacons it would be IGST. The IGST rate will be equal to the total of SCGT and CGST. The Indian government is going to

fol low the system of dual taxaon, with both the state and centre having the power to levy taxes. But the biggest is relief is that there will be single taxing event. At the me of supply or preparaon of sale invoice the tax liability will be triggered. Earlier the tax liability was based on the origin of goods whereas GST is a desnaon based tax. Also there will be credit of all taxes paid on input. All this will be computed online.

The main basics for determining

the GST is based on the locaon of supplier and place from where supply is made and also the place of supply, where the supply is received.

Communicaons) like emailers, IPCA Gleaner, C2R, or vast delegaons and e-ups with fastest growing economies of the world, or the impressive increase in memberships, at the sheer number and grandeur of various KSS and Residenal Conferences, it has been record years that has given new direcon to IPCA. Mr. Bhasin then played a very beaufully made twenty minutes video that gave a glimpse on various acvies. It was very well received by the audience.

He then introduced and invited the President of IPCA Mr. Jan Aggarwal to give his Presidenal address.

Mr. Jan Aggarwal enumerated the path breaking measures that IPCA took during the last 1-2 years and the immaculate team work and relentless pursuit of o u r g o a l s t h a t m a d e t h e consistent success possible. These new innovave ideas and the proacve execuon of the ideas and events has been the key for the success of IPCA. But perhaps the biggest reason the history being made has been the ethos and principals and morality of the balance of “Tehzeeb and Tarraki” in the delegate fabric of culture of IPCA that has resulted i n w i d e a c c e p t a n c e a n d accolades for the fastest growing paint associaon in India having more than 1400 members today.

Mr. Jan Aggarwal then gave his keynote speech, perhaps for the first me when a President took the responsibility to deliver this coveted speech during the biennial. He enumerated the importance of re-innovaon to r e n o va t e o u r b u s i n e s s e s , products, services and core reasons for us to do business. He

gave a presentaon on product life cycle, law of diffusion of innovaon, gave numerous corporate examples from history like that of Nokia, Blackberry, Bankruptcy of Kodak, effect of re-innovaons in taxi services through Ola and Uber, Nelix compeng with Blockbuster, iTunes with CD industry, Baba R a m d e v, A p p l e ’s e y e f o r innovaon in Xerox mouse, etc. He then inspired the audience to think beyond the external threats and changes and adapt. Like that

of GST. He gave an example of Ms. Arunima Sinha the first female amputee to climb Mt. Everest. Mr. Jan Aggarwal was emphac at the end to push forward that no one can insll habits of developing the culture of rewarding innovaon in an organisaon and that with the plethora of knowledge available on the net, we must first let go of our past baggage and then accept the urgency of change and then use the internet to redesign and gain knowledge to re-innovate to renovate.

Mr. Jan Aggarwal, President IPCA then announced the proud recipients of IPCA Life Time

Achievement Awards for 2017. It has been a tradion of giving our respect to stalwarts of the industry and associaon who have inspired the fraternity by their service. Mr. Vijay Bansal of Superlac Paints and Mr. Surender Duggal of Bharat Solvents were given this treasured trophy by Patron and Past President Mr. Anil Khanna and Patron and Past President Mr. Ashok Gaind. Patron and Past President Mr. Vinod Karwa presented the winners with a shawl, memento

The vote of thanks was given by the popular IPCA leader, Patron and Immediate Past President Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, who thanked the dignitaries, delegates and the team behind IPCA Biennial Conference 2017. As a part of the core team that delivered this mega conference he had the insight into the coruscang and extraordinary teams and people who had worked with a lot of zeal to make a conference of such magnitude possible.

ExhibionOne of the unique highlights of IPCA Biennial 2017 was the beaufully organised Exhibion next to the Seminar venue. What started out as a Business Lounge iniave soon developed into a full blown Exhibion as there was a tremendous response and nobody wanted to lose this golden opportunity to interact with around 750+ Delegates at one venue! It was inaugurated by the IPCA President Mr. Jan Aggarwal on 4th August at 9:00 am. There were a total of 40 E x h i b i t o r s r a n g i n g f r o m pigments, fillers, machinery, addives, emulsions resins etc. The stalls were erected as per internaonal standards in an air condioned fire proof pavilion with modern fings. There was a l o u n g e a r e a w i t h complimentary tea-coffee-cookies along with networking space for the Delegates to interact with the Exhibitors. This iniave of IPCA was very well r e c e i v e d b y t h e c o a n g fraternity. There was a constant s t re a m o f v i s i to rs to t h e exhibion and all Exhibitors were very sasfied with the response they got! This new iniave by IPCA is again a feather in its cap, wherein it is working to increase the networking opportunies of the Delegates who congregate at its Mega events!

During the past two years, IPCA has taken delegaons to China Coat 2016, Colour Vietnam 2016, Interlakokraska Russia 2017, Coang Korea, South Korea 2016 and South Korea 2017 and now yet again IPCA took the largest delegaon to China Coat 2017, at Shanghai from 15-17 November 2017.

IPCA's delegaon that was 85 members st rong , and was perhaps the best value for money and at the same me the package was of 6 nights 7 days. With the choicest hotels like Marrio at Shanghai and Holiday Inn in Beijing, including all sight seeings and meals, IPCA's package also h a d t h e m o s t d i v e r s e representaon of ambassadors from all parts of India.

IPCA partnered with MSME for the tour to China Coat 2017. Delegates, were led by two enthusiasc tour leaders from LTA Tours , New Delh i and Mumbai.

The group had members from different parts of India such as

Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal and Karnataka etc. There were two separate departures with direct flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Beijing followed by onward journey to Shanghai. All delegates met at the scenic and historic city of Beijing on 1 2 t h o f N o v e m b e r 2 0 1 7 . Weather in Beij ing was an absolute delight with enabling treasured visits to the Great Wall of China and apt to enjoy carefully selected local and Indian cuisines. The next day was kept to enjoy tours to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. China is a fascinang place to travel and with the company of a joyous group from India, it is always a bliss. Bonding of the delegates in the relaxed environment was a pleasure to see. Truly, our coang fraternity has common shades, bonds and threads that are deeper than just our glorious naon and our businesses.

Next, was the core purpose of the de legaon, Shangha i . The delegaon reached Shanghai a night before the opening of China Coat 2017. The Hotel was just 20 minutes away from the venue,

the recently opened Courtyard by Marrio.

To all those who did not visit China Coat 2017, the key take away was that this me it was a massive affair. Rough esmates would be that perhaps it was 30% larger in exhibion space, with three new halls accommodang many new exhibitors showcasing paint and coangs raw materials. On the opening day, geng in the fair ground was a breeze for IPCA delegates with personalised VIP passes being provided to the delegates. On 15th November 2017, the opening day of China Coat, there was a massive crowd that slowly shrunk over the next two days.

China Coat had many new

insights this me. Key posives was a emphac focus on hybrids and water based technologies, perhaps due to the strict EPA and SHE norms in China. Due to similar reasons, and shortage of key raw materials, prices of most of the paint raw materials was showing an upward trend. It seems that China's compeve edge in comparison to EU and India is shrinking. But, the capacies of plants and the knack of producing niche products in bulk, keeps China Coat as a must visit.

IPCA delegates were treated to finger licking working lunches during the fair to give them an energec boost and to ensure that they connue their pursuit of knowledge and business. In the evening there were visits and trips for cruise on Huangpu River, shopping drops, visit to thefoggy but beauful 94th floor of the World Financial Centre, a cultural show, and on the last night of the tour, a gala dinner to celebrate the camaraderie and to share fond memories with each other. T h e g r o u p r e t u r n e d w i t h pleasant memories of the trip with a hope of profitable returns from their meengs and the knowledge of latest technologies gathered from China Coat.
