Well the DJ is over and once again was a huge success thanks to all the wonderful people who work so hard to make it happen.

There is an issue which has arisen following the last DJ and I believe it is appropriate to deal with it in this column. One of the entrants Harry Fischer who also brought some TV coverage to the event has written an open letter wherein he suggests that a new category of bike be introduced to the event to in-crease the number of entrants. He says there could be a second category of motorcycles and I quote from his letter “But why not introduce a secondary category for bikes built between 1936 and 1945? Why not make it a rolling end date?”

While I believe his point is made in good faith I must respond to this with a very strong counter ar-gument. I believe that to tamper with the formula of the event as contemplated by its founders would certainly be the death of the event as we know it.

The reasons for my conviction are as follows. Firstly the event commemorates the original race in a very special way by limiting entries to motorcycles that theoretically could have taken part in the original event and that is what in my opinion creates the magic of the DJ. If you open the event up it then be-comes just another rally and all of them struggle for numbers when it comes to entries.

The second reason I offer is that at least two rallies I know of namely the Magnum and the Milligan which once had waiting lists and very strict entry requirements and subsequently relaxed the entry re-quirements now both struggle to have viable entry numbers these days and have to be marketed enthusiastically to happen.

The third reason is that there were no fewer than fifteen first time starters on this year’s event and currently I am aware of another three for next year just from one first time rider having enjoyed his run so much. That is what keeps the event going.

There are many other dimensions to this debate that could be put forward but as someone who is pas-sionate about and currently entrusted with the custodianship of the event I cannot subscribe to a change of this nature. We are looking at new options in regard to the route as well as other areas which can improve the experience of the riders but there cannot be any tampering with the fundamental formula of the DJ as we know it.

Until next month safe and happy motoring and riding!

Ian Holmes.

This month we welcome Jane and Gerald Leeferink from Muldersdrift, Mark and Susie Goodman, Melville, and Rob Muirhead from Forest Town. They drive MG B, Mercedes, BMW and last but not least a Peugeot 504. We also have a new country member, Olof Beyer and his wife (Patti), all the way from Texas, US of America. They plan to join us for the Magnum Rally which will be held from the 10th to the 12th of August. We hope they will get enough time to meet us at the Sunday Club event in August (which is also the AGM) and of course also at the “Milkbar” on Friday evenings.

This month I will spare you for having to read about members who have not yet paid the 2016/2017 subs. The good news is that the subscriptions for the 2017/2018 year will be the same as this year namely: E-mailed Newsletters R425 for ordinary mem-bers, R300 for country members. Printed newsletters R550 for ordinary members and R425 for country members. I will bring the new forms to the Sunday club meeting on the 28th of May. Please collect your form from me. The banking details are: The Vintage and Veteran Club, Nedbank Benmore Gardens, Branch Code 197305, Account number 1973038617.

I am busy reading the book “Spark your Dream” written by Candelaria and Herman Zapp. It is a true life story about the couple selling all their belongings to take the 1928 Graham-Paige to Alaska. We won the book by correctly identifying all the motoring heads displayed at the top of the pages in the Newsletter. Paul has still got a couple of books to give a way to somebody who can identify all the famous men. It is not impossible. Give it a try.

I am not going to be at the Sunday club meeting on the 30th of April. Michelle Mor-row will stand in for me. So those of you who have not yet paid the subs can do so. Should you wish to buy a shirt, polo shirt or jersey, we have only got a few left. All models cost the same namely R290. We are also selling key rings for R40 each, metal badges R150 or R100 depending on size and the license disks which cost R10 each.

At the Sunday Club meeting on the 26th of February a pair of prescription glasses was handed in and also a silver earring with a blue stone. Should you have lost any of these please contact me.

Enjoy your autumn drives.

The Great Train Race 2017

Chris Van

* Commemorating the Barney Barnato “Speed Six” Bentley vs. Blue Train race from Monte Carlo to Calais in 1930!

The confirmed date is Saturday 24 June 2017.

There is likely to be a very high uptake for this event so please make sure to book your Saturday night accommodation at the Krugersdorp Game Reserve Lodge without delay (details below).

The big change from last year is that the Krugersdorp Flying Club photoshoot will now be a Saturday late afternoon and sunset shoot – providing for incredible photographic opportunities.

We hope to have a bigger complement of airplanes than we would have for an early morning shoot (which was, quite frankly, brutal in the cold).

We will thence be staying over on the Saturday night at the Krugersdorp Game Reserve Lodge.

Remember that in keeping with the spirit of the event, only pre-1940 cars and motorbikes are eligible.

Period Dress is “mandatory”… so start accumulating your garb now! Great kit makes for a great vibe and great pics.

For those not wanting to use the Train the James Hall Museum’s 1951 Routemaster Bus will also take passengers for the day. (pre booking is essential)

Itinerary

Saturday 24 June 2017

08h30:• Vintage cars, bikes, assemble at the Krugersdorp Flying Club.

09h30:• Convoy departs for the Convergence Point (near to where the R400 meets the R24 to Magaliesburg).• Remember to bring deck chairs, umbrellas, and sunscreen.• Complimentary refreshment and snacks will be provided.

Page 7: MAY 2017 - Vintage and Veteran Clubvintageandveteranclub.co.za/VVC Newsletter 2017 05.pdf · Page 5 MAY 2017 2017 CALENDER OF EVENTS (Subject to amendment – see Magazine & Notice

Page 7 MAY 2017

10h30:• Communication is received that the train is now passing through nearby Tarlton Race Track.• Headed by the Speed Six, the convoy of vintage cars and motorbikes departs from the Conver gence Point to join up with and drive alongside the steam train on the R24 towards Magaliesburg.• Vintage airplanes fly overhead.

11h30:• go straight to the Sleepy River resort on the R96, exactly 16 km away (you drive through Magaliesburg, on the R24 then turn right onto the R96).• Although the train will stop at the Magaliesburg Station, we will be giving it a miss because it is now too run down and there are no facilities. The train passengers will, however, alight there and be bussed to Sleepy River resort, to join us.• Train passenger depart Sleepy River by bus at 14h30 to catch the 15h00 train, which may slow your departure from Sleepy River.

12h30:• lunch and drinks (for your own account).

14h00:• Vintage vehicles depart from Sleepy River at 14h30 latest and again join up with the train on the R24, in informal convoy.

15h00:• Train departs from Magaliesburg station (to return home).

16h45: (Sunset at 17h25)• Krugersdorp Airfield sunset photoshoot with the vintage aeroplanes. • Please be sure to be dressed in period clothing. This is literally a golden opportunity to get incredible photographs of you and your significant other (i.e. your car or motorbike) with the vintage planes in a picturesque sunset setting.• Shuttle service will be provided to the Lodge for those who want to lock their cars or bikes up overnight in a secure hangar at the Airfield.

18h00:• Check in to the Krugersdorp Game Reserve Lodge (you must be pre-booked).• Complimentary welcoming champagne and snacks.

19h00:• Great Train Race Dinner, with live music (courtesy yours truly)• Prize-giving (mmmm…. wonder what the prizes could be for?)

THE SECOND CRAFT VVC RED CARNIVAL

Paul Koski

Last Sunday saw another magnificent collectionof RED Cars and Bikes and the 1951 RED Routemaster Bus from the James Hall Museum lining the streets of Parkhurst. This year we selected the Smile Foundation as the Charity to support. They claimed that it was one of their best collection events that they have had in years and had to double back to their office a few times to get more Charity gifts to sell. The Bus provided rides to the young and old chil-dren on the day and provided much needed support to keep the old lady on the road.

As Eric commented, this day just brings Smiles to everyone and it now, no doubt, needs to be annual event. The plan for next year is a large street closure if possible and to become a real festival of colour.

Thanks to all the attendees and the Friends of the James Hall Museum for making the effort.

1928 Studebaker GE Dictator

Hein Fourie Snr and Jnr.

My day started as any normal Sunday morning would, getting up early, but with excitement in the air. This would be my first visit all the way from Pretoria to the Vintage and Veteran Car Club in my very original 1928 Studebaker Duplex Phaeton. She was part of the collection owned by the late Mr Willem Van Niekerk in Utrecht. I have been after this car since 2003 but were never able to afford her, but in 2014 my luck turned and after a lot of negotiations she was mine. As luck would have it, even though she was in storage since 1973, the licence and all paperwork was kept up to date, she was even registered with an “S” licence already, I just had to register her in my name !

After a 1300km round trip to fetch her she was home, but I could not start working on her immediately. After attending the 2016 Cars in the Park at Zwartkops I decided it was time for the old lady to get back on the road. I did some work on the valves (some of which were stuck open), flushed the engine/gearbox and differential oils and fitted four good second hand tyres on the old lady. It took some tuning before I had the engine running like a swiss clock and I am still using the original 6v system on her. The car is fitted with the original 242ci 4.0L straight six sidevalve engine with updraught carburetor which produces 67 HP and is fitted with a 3 speed non syncromesh gearbox. My average speed is 35 to 40mph in the old lady, after all, she is 89 years old !

The term Duplex Phaeton relates to the fact that the roof resembles a normal phaeton soft top, but has a sturdy steel construction covered by a high grade waterproofed fabric, which could even support the weight of the car in the event of a roll over! The Studebaker Duplex Phaeton was introduced in September 1924 but by 1927 very few were still being manufactured, mine was assembled during May/June of 1928. According to the Antique Studebaker Club of America this could be the only 1928 Studebaker GE Dictator Duplex Phaeton in existence today, no others have been found yet !

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome at the Club and for the prize awarded to me, it is highly appreciated. Hope to see you all soon.

MAY 2017

So there I was, driving home from a most enjoyable evening sharing stories & a few sips with like-minded classic car enthusiasts in the VVC’s Milk Bar, on Friday.

Cruising along the N1 – Happy as Larry, big smile on my dial, just enjoying the growl of a Classic Jaguar. Then there’s a flash - “Oh Damn!! Not another speeding fine!!” On 2nd. thoughts, ‘couldn’t have been too far over the limit & would probably like to record the XK’s 1st fine on file.

Then there’s this 17 seater hovering alongside in the fast lane & as I’m about to send an irritated glare, I note it’s a ‘Teasers’ vehicle, emblazoned with the most beautiful female forms AND THERE’S MORE - the windows open & these real live scantily clad ‘Ladies’ are hanging out of the windows taking pictures of ME!!!! (Hence the flash. No, they were not ‘flashing’ - their cameras were) - Realising that they were not really taking pics of me, after blowing the girls a few kisses I noted that not one was looking at me. They had no doubt been attracted to the glistening chrome wire wheels, then the car & as I indicated to exit left on to New Road, they gave me a ‘don’t call me’ parting wave.

I was thrilled that the Jag had been noticed & photographed by the most unlikely humans expected to do so.

PS: For those I haven’t told, my feelings & expectations for “Lady Love” - that’s the XK, can only be described as follows: If you can remember that 1st. kiss you had, you’ll probably understand. I was a late starter at 13, when I had my 1st. kiss, & when she ran her tongue across my lips, I had no idea what to expect nor what I was supposed to do next - BUT I knew it was going to be wonderful!!!

I look forward to my next visit to the Milk Bar - hope to see you there.

John.

This is a brief account of my long love affair with Lady H.

Not many people outside Classic Car fraternity are able to understand the way we feel about our cars.

Jay Leno recently wrote words to the effect: “what separates classic car drivers from modern car own-ers is that classic car owners become one with their machine in a way that most people don’t under-stand” he also said: “when I put the key in & turn it, I almost feel as if I’m taking her temperature - if I have to hold the key longer than usual I know there’s something wrong”

For Lady H & I, it all began in circa 1967 when this guy in the neighbourhood in Vanderbylpark drove past my parent’s house in a MG TC. For the record his car was sold to Fred Kolbe & it is now owned by John Fry & lives in the UK. I followed the car, only to find we sort of knew each other from a few years earlier, when we were still at school – Sam Weber, he matriculated a year ahead of me, I’d failed in Std 9 & had to repeat - too involved in sport & girls!

I’ve been a petrol head since I was a kid - I even wore a ‘Baby-Bee’ piston on a chain around my neck instead of the usual Crucifix & owned my 1st car, a 1936 Austin 10, when I was 14. It took me a year to pay it off - 15 pounds! - working @ the Dairy Den in the evenings & weekends.

Sam & I then set about finding me a TC - some months later we heard of a TC standing on the pave-ment in Hillbrow & we traced the owner to a flat above. The car had come with him from Rhodesia but had been on the pavement for a number of months. We agreed on the price (R250.00) & I was to return the next Friday afternoon to pay & collect.

The next Friday Sam & I arrived at the flat in Hillbrow, in my Mom’s Datsun Bluebird to collect my 1st sports car. On arrival I handed over the envelope which the ‘Netherlands Bank’ (now Nedbank) had given me with the money in it. The owner’s girlfriend took it & we went out to check oil etc. & to start the car. Satisfied, we returned to the flat to collect the papers etc. The girlfriend told us there was an extra R10 in the envelope, which she gave back to me. The bank teller must have mistakenly counted 26 notes - what a girl, how often would you expect that to happen - I mean, the girlfriend returning of the extra 10 rand?

My mate Sam & I took the papers, the car AND the 10 bucks & drove into the Shell garage across the road, filled the TC, changed the engine oil on the forecourt, pumped the tyres & went to ‘Ye Ole Castle Inn’ for a pint each - full tank, oil change & the beers all for R10!!

We had fun. Sam & I did a trip around the country during the December break in the two TC’s - 3000 miles in 3 weeks, Jo’burg, PE, Garden Route, CT & home.

The TC’s were our everyday transport to college & work for at least a year, until a leaking radiator was removed for repair, resulting in the start of a chassis-up rebuild - you know the story - take the radi-ator off for repair, note the water pump needs attention. Then while waiting for the radiator, cleaning the firewall & engine bay will be so much easier if the mudguards are removed - and so the rebuild becomes inevitable. On student income this became an 18 month project - working on the car every evening & weekends.

However, we never gave up on the obligatory visit to Jo’burg once a month on ‘payday’ weekend. These visits now had the added incentive & motivation not only to frequent the Nurses and Teachers Training college res., BUT also to spend Saturday morning in Motor Jobbers, Bolt Tool & others - buying those special tools or elusive BSW/UNF nuts & bolts etc. We even learnt about the need to import certain bits we needed & could not make ourselves, from Tolemans in the UK.

On one of these visits a friend with a ‘flat grilled’ Morgan joined us & we were stopped by the cops because his one head lamp was not working. Without a word of a lie, we told the cop that we were going to Jo’burg for spares which were not available anywhere else - he let us go. The next week the Morgan joined us again for the fun, you guessed it - same cop, same light problem, different story. This time the cop said “come on guys - bring me a screw-driver” & he found the lose wire, fixed it & sent us off - again, could this happen today?

On another of the Jo’burg visits, on the Sunday before returning the Vanderbylpark, we saw a number of TC’s driving in Roosevelt Park. Of course we chased them, one of them a green one, being driven by a chic. Once we eventually convinced them to stop (we were in another mate’s Anglia & somehow they knew we were from the south - bad boys!), I ran to the green TC & kissed the girl - fortunately I was quick enough to duck the resultant slap. It was Ruth Whittock (later Bezer) on a run in their TC’s with friends, organised as I recall by Graham White - this was prior to & probably the beginnings of the MGCC Johannesburg Centre. Ruth called her green TC ‘Lady Godiva’, which was when I decided to find an appropriate name for my TC. It didn’t take long, with a little research (no Google then!) I decided on Lady Hamilton - for those who may not know, the soft skinned Lady Hamilton was quite a girl - by some accounts - a tart actually. Just the character our Lady H was to become. Lady Hamilton (Emma, to those close to her) was Nel-son’s mistress (yes, the Nelson) & bore two children by him, sadly lost one @ birth.

Lady H & I have been together since (if not in body, definitely in spirit). We were apart for a while but are now reunited, ‘until death do us part’. When the petrol attendants ask me to sell her to them - I always tell that they will have to negotiate with my wife, after I die.

The student rebuild was finally completed in time for me to gleefully part company with my employer & the state sponsorship of my engineering certificate - Iscor. On the day I qualified, I resigned & that same day, drove the TC out of that dust bowl/hole singing at the top of my voice “We gotta Get Out of this Place” - the Animals, remember?

Our journey has been exceptional, Lady H & I.

After Iscor, she was my every day transport, weekend fun, dating, racing & MGCC events etc. She even won the MGCC Victor Ladorum 3 times & competed successfully in gymkhanas & made a name for herself as a bit of a hooligan.

At the time, I worked for a German company designing & installing process plants & had graduated to a company car but still regularly used Lady H to work on Fridays. On one Friday, when visiting another company for the 1st time, there was an Austin Healey 100/4 in the parking lot & coincidently the guy I was seeing, owned it - Peter Waldburger is still a friend today & is presently rebuilding that same Healey.

Anita (my present wife) & I got married in the TC in 1977. When our sons came along & space & mon-ey was a problem, Lady H left us in 1982. We sold her to a guy by the name of Basil Ambler-Smith, the then CEO of the JHB Stock Exchange, as I recall. Basil took Lady H home & stripped her for a ground-up, no expense spared rebuild. Sadly Basil died before the rebuild began & Lady H remained in crates from then. We sold Lady H to Basil for six thousand rand & bought an E Type for nine.

I am certain that although we were apart for a number of years, she was not unfaithful for more than 100 km. We’ve forgiven each other. Our friend Bill Cunningham, always seemed to know where Lady H’s bits were & would occasionally reminded me.

Many years later in 2002, while on holiday on the Garden Route, after competing in the CT Argus Cycle Tour, Anita & I visiting friends met Rickie Cooper, a renowned restorer & now also builder of replica Austin Healeys in Knysna. When I asked Rickie what other project he was working on, he pointed to a corner in the workshop & said he had a TC in crates to do, as a retirement hobby.

Well, you cannot imagine my disbelief, when I had a closer look @ the crates & found the telescopic shocks & among other items the welds & brackets I’d added to strengthen gearbox mounts when we

were racing as a student. Rickie finally agreed to sell her to me & a few months later Vic Fear & I drove to Knysna & with the assistance of our friend Keith Burton, collected the crates.

Just to give you an idea of the effects of inflation & of course the Classic Car investment potential - we paid Rickie R45 000.00 for the bits in the crates - I won’t tell you what the rest cost to complete the last rebuild - Anita may read this. Suffice to say R250, for a not so shabby TC in 1967, sold for R6000. as a ‘2nd. In concourse’ TC in 1982, to R45k for a crate of parts in 2002. AND now?? They’re changing hands @ something like a ridiculous R200k to R400k!!! How can we expect younger guys to join us when they can buy a respectable & reliable modern car for that??

The repurchase of Lady H was a project we could ill afford at the time with carrier & family pressures & demands - BUT it was one we could not ignore. We rebuilt Lady H with the same Emma Hamilton character she had back then, full of love & attention that had been devoted to her even when we were students - our objective for the last rebuild was that she had to look good, even ‘tartish’, BUT certainly no concourse babe. We will also make sure she does not end up destitute as poor old Lady Emma Ham-ilton did.

Lady H was up & running to take Anita & I to our 30th Wedding Anniversary party, in the Cradle of Mankind in 2007.

She has participated in events to Sabi, White River, Dullstroom etc. BUT today, Lady H enjoys runs to the VVC, Paul’s Parkhurst & Steam Train Race, VVC Breakfasts & any other suitable classic motoring event within the confines of Gauteng.

When going to a summers day long, lazy, lunch, we will take her along because even if we have that extra bottle of wine over lunch & we meet a road block on the way home - all they talk about is the car & check nothing else, not even the licence disk.

Lady H has her permanent place in our lives & we hope with the VVC as well.

We look forward to many more happy hours together, especially our regular Sunday jaunt to Illovo.

SAVVA Technical Tip 119 - Master Brake

cylinders

Looking through the brake section of a workshop manual for pre-war cars it warned of problems one could encounter if incorrect washers and/or piston return springs were fitted to the master brake cylin-der. This brought back memories as years back it happened to me and in my ignorance and inexperi-ence I thought I was the only person in the world this had happened to. However, it turns out it is not uncommon.

As a reminder, a friend came by a couple of weeks ago with tales of woe about his old series 2 Land Rovers brakes. He has had all the cylinders re-sleeved but the brakes won’t “bleed” as they should. He has taken the master cylinder out many times but cannot find anything wrong with it.

The problem could be two-fold. Firstly, the return spring is now old and weak and not returning the pis-ton all the way back allowing the fluid to travel from the reservoir into the bottom chamber. Then there is also the small possibility that the new washer is a bit wide and partially covering the port.

Last year I had the same problem on an early car. I had the master cylinder re-sleeved by the brake experts and it wouldn’t bleed as it should. After becoming slightly neurotic and suicidal and taking it back to the “experts” twice they found the problem – the old return spring was inadequate to return the new washer (primary cup) all the way back in the re-sleeved chamber. A slightly stiffer spring solved the problem.

When I think of the hours I spent going up and under the car as well as the bottles of brake fluid wasted trying to get the brakes to bleed I’m thinking of making an effigy of the chap behind the counter who insisted I wasn’t bleeding the system correctly and sticking pins into it.

Fun with old registration numbers

Ian Holmes

The response to my last article about old registration letters was positive so I have decided to continue in the same direction for a few more issues.

The first correct response was from Jan Steenkamp all the way down in Jeffreys Bay but he has yet to collect his drinks!

We will go to the Cape Province this month and to make it more interesting there will be a cryptic clue next to the registration letters listed. Again the letters used are as at 1938 as many of these did change in later years. My source is the RAC Handbook of that year.

CAB Named by a Scot? CAN Strictly Religious?CDF Ben Dekker lived there CCE Was Lord Charles so far East?CJo Name of a brandy CAU Marked by a Fort

The lower case letter in one above is not a typo they used some in those days. Have some fun with those and let us see who recognises any if not all!

Mysterious mascot

Eric McQuillian

Can anyone identify this mascot? I bought it at the Piston Ring flea market last Sunday. It’s not listed in the Williams book on mascots. My guess it’s American from mid 50’s era. It must have had a plas-tic thingy sticking out the top like a sharks fin. It is fairly large at 30 cm long.

10 SecondsPaul Koski

On Sunday at the Red Carnival, I greeted a fellow car enthusiast and noticed his hands, arms and stomach badly burnt. “10 seconds”, he said, “is all it took!”. Whilst priming a carb, a spark ignited and flames leapt out and immediately his shirt (not soaked in fuel) ignited as it was made of a synthet-ic material. It took 10 seconds to remove the shirt engulfed in flames causing major burns to his hands and upper body. Three surgeries followed and lots of future recovery time. No doubt he said “it could have been worse”.

Since becoming a member some years back, I have seen heard and read about serious fire misfortunes. A Piston ring member working with a lead light that shattered, did not have enough time to get out from under his car causing major burns and total loss. Our members have suffered significant losses from charging batteries in enclosed areas and other members experienced major fires in their garages. On my side, one of my car was being repaired and on its return I noticed white powder, this resulted from the sediment bowl falling off too close to the Spark plugs. It was clear that a huge fire erupted before the extinguishers were in hand. More recently, a DJ member suffered major burns and could not get off the bike in time when fuel spread over a spark plug. A few weeks back the1906 De Dietrich in Cape Town caught fire when a spark plug broke sending showering sparks onto the Carb. In mere seconds the engine bay was engulfed in flames. So in a short space of less than 10 years I have come across 6 major incidents despite the articles writ-ten, each one (other than the DJ rider and the De Dietrich fire) possibly avoidable.

What we don’t seem to understand is that fuel ignition is instantaneous. 10 seconds in a fire’s life is like a life time, a minute of Fire is too late. Lessons need to be learned from these experiences and we ought to implore members to seriously consider a fire safety program in their garages.

I suggest we draw up a Fire safety program and circulate it to all members and I urge members to contribute and comment.

1. Keep more than one big fire extinguishers close. It must be big enough and operable (one notices at shopping centres they are placed at the entrance). Before working on a car, get the fire extinguisher and place it where you are working AND one outside away from the work area. Before working consider removing it from the bracket and placing it in a handy position. Often the first time you figure out how it works is when the extinguisher is needed. Make sure you know how to operate it. This sounds ridiculous but when a fire starts there is not time to think where the safety pin is located. (Small extinguishers are useless)

Page 26: MAY 2017 - Vintage and Veteran Clubvintageandveteranclub.co.za/VVC Newsletter 2017 05.pdf · Page 5 MAY 2017 2017 CALENDER OF EVENTS (Subject to amendment – see Magazine & Notice

10 SecondsPaul Koski

2. If you are working with fuel, clear all excess fuel from the floor, from “tickled” carbs that might have dripped or overflowed. If there is a flash, it will pick up any combustible material and vapours in the area. Take an extra second and dry the excess overflow. Before starting the car remove that fuel filled rag.

3. Remove all those old paint tins, solvents, thinners, pool chlorine bottles, jays fluids, chemicals, insecticides, pressurised cans, old batteries, fuel canisters - all sitting there on your wall or floor in your garage. It’s your own personal atom bomb that abuts your house. Get rid of it all, its ugly in your garage and no one re-uses paint anyway.

4. Batteries - never charge a battery in an enclosed area.

5. Lead lights - Don’t use incandescent globes. (I am not sure if other globes are any safer unless the globe is shielded).

6. First aid kits with fire blankets. Don’t skimp, get a serious first aid kit and keep it away from the garage.

7. Smoking - I am not going to sound any warnings here as you should not be smoking inside or outside your garage the first place.

8. In case of emergency - how quickly can you dial for help? Have emergency numbers handy and close by.

9. Never start a journey in an old car without a fire extinguisher. ( I always have one on the floorpan next to me and not in the trunk)

Once completed and comments received, this will be re-circulated in a fire safety guide. Until then, remember accidents happen.

How This Invention can Boost Your Investment Performance

The secret of the turbo charger lies in the impellor, set between the exhaust pipe and the carburettor, that spins at incredible speed to harness the hot exhaust gas energy to augment the

atmospheric pressure in the combustion chamber, sometimes up to an incredible 200 times.

With its proven ability to squeeze maximum performance from small amounts of energy, “Forced induction” is routinely used in production cars the world over.

Recently, a small team of private wealth professionals created what may be the investment equivalent of the turbocharger: To use existing market forces to augment a traditional

portfolio, and almost halve the volatility and double the performance.

This dollar-based strategy has a proven track record in all market conditions, achieving a remarkable risk-adjusted return.

To learn more about how this strategy works, please contact me so that I can set up a meeting for you, with the financial engineers themselves, with absolutely no obligation.

Kindly note that this is not an invitation to do business. This is an invitation, to the serious investor, to have a conversation, with a view to an introduction.
