FINOLA HAS BEEN COMMISSIONED TOPRODUCE TWO 2008 CHRISTMAS CARDS

FINOLA BECOMES MORE INDEPENDENT &MAKES REALLY IMPORTANT DECISIONS

St John’s Church, Princes Street Edinburgh

A very big thank you to the MinistryTeam from St John’s Church forsupporting Finola & a special thankyou goes to Rev Dr John Armesfrom Finola and her family.

This year has seen great leaps and bounds with Finola maturing and making somevery important decisions that are going to affect her future years.

HEALTH - we started the year with Finola having to consider whether shewould like to have major surgery on her spine and having two rods inserted from neckto pelvis to help the scoliosis in her back. This procedure although 20 more timesmore major than her pelvic surgery (2001) would have helped prevent the spine fromcontinuing to curve as currently one of Finola’s lower ribs is practically touching herpelvis. Obviously there are huge implications for both having the surgery but also nothaving the surgery. After much soul searching & identifying the pros and cons fromboth Finola and the families point of view, Finola’s own decision was that she wouldprefer not to have it – “even if it means that I am not here for so long” says Finola.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Mr Tsikoros & to Mr Robb for theirpatience and kindness.

We truly hope that the unknown future of her back will be kind to Finola.

EDUCATION – Finola visited PORTLAND COLLEGE, Nr Nottingham(www.portland.ac.uk) in early November this year for her Sunday – Wednesdayassessment. A HUGE STEP for Finola as no one knew her within the college but shedid ever so well. WELL DONE FINOLA! We heard on 21.11.08 that the college areable to offer Finola a place at a cost of £75,000 approx per annum.

Finola informed them during her visit that she would very much like to attend thecollege starting from next year! This they have confirmed they could do but obviouslyit would be dependent on funding.

This therefore brings forward the requirement of funds by a year. Currently theFinola Education Trust has fundraised approximately £25,000 since last November.

A VERY VERY BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED FINOLAWHETHER BY TAKING PART IN A FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY OR BY DONATINGHOWEVER LARGE OR SMALL.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

TIME Recruitment Services Ltd support Finola(www.timerecruitment.co.uk)
