Respect Life This week our nation honors the dream of equal human rights articulated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On January 22, we also mark the anniversary of the most egregious violation of human rights through the Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade, which permitted the killing of children in the womb. During these days, Christians also observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. These three themes intersect powerfully. We pray that Christians will unite in effective service to all who are deprived of their rights, and bring about a Culture of Life, Justice, and Love.

From the Pastor’s Desk… Last weekend we celebrated 1st communion and we congratulate again the children and their families. On Monday morning, when I was greeting children at the school door, a father of one of the 1st Communion children came to me and said that he and his entire family liked and enjoyed our celebration. It was the best reward for all of us who worked hard to prepare this celebration. I hope that all the 1st Communion families enjoyed it as much as I did. I want to share with you the great news that our Deacon Mark became Fr. Mark on Saturday, May 17. He will celebrate his first mass on May 18 at 1:15pm at St. Albert the Great Parish in Burbank. Then, on Sunday, May 25 he will celebrate his first Mass here at St. Francis Borgia at 1:30pm (bilingual Mass). In June, Fr. Mark will go to Poland to celebrate a special Mass in his home parish to thank God for the gift of priesthood. Fr. Mark will begin his ministry at St. Francis Borgia as an Associate Pastor, July 1, 2014. Please support Fr. Mark with your prayers and please join him for all those joyous celebrations. I want to ask you to save the date and join us for the following celebrations: Tuesday, June 3 Graduation—8:30am Mass and 7:00pm Graduation celebration in church Sunday, June 22 Corpus Christi—1:30pm bilingual Mass with an outisde Procession to 4 altars June 29 Padre Pio Mass at 3:30pm with an outside Procession with the Statue of Padre Pio
