    Members o Washingtons District 308 SchoolBoard and the Washington Area Community Cen-ter Board have reached an agreement to help curba 200-spot parking decit or the 2011-12 schoolyear.

    Washington Community High School studentswill be able to take advantage o 111 parking spacesin Five Points Washingtons 146-space parking lot.

    The WACC originally ofered 50 spaces to beused by students during the school day, rom Aug.22 to May 30. The ofer was criticized at District308s May 9 meeting.

    Superintendent Dr. Jim Dunnan and SchoolBoard President Tim Custis attended a meeting othe WACC Thursday, where the parking situationwas discussed.

    Im going to take Spanishall our years in high school sousing Rosetta Stone kind ogives a basis to it, said Mac-Donald, 14.

    Dr. Paul Kinsinger, a Wash-ington resident and District51 board member, alongwith Washington Commu-nity Bank, donated RosettaStone sotware to WashingtonSchool District 51 near thestart o the 2010-11 schoolyear.

    Rosetta Stone is a serverand web-based interactive

    language sotware that o-cuses on real-lie situationsthat simulate the natural ac-quisition o a rst language,unlike a traditional classroomsetting where students con-

    centrate on translation andlearning grammar rules.

    ask questions, MacDonaldsaid.

    Her classmate, Jacob Godi-

    nez, said he has also enjoyedthe opportunity to work withthe sotware.

    Ive had un with it, hesaid. Its a lot diferent (thana normal class). Its spokenout to you, which made it alot easier to learn.

    Godinez said he believeshe picked up more rom thesotware than i he had par-ticipated in a more traditionalSpanish class.

    Washington CommunityHigh School students took anin-depth look at issues acing

    the city during Student Gov-ernment Day.

    The Washington City Council covered a lot o groundin its short meeting Monday night at Five Points.
