A Message From Fr. Wayne
Dear Parish Family,
I begin by saying how wonderful it was to see many of you this past weekend at our fi rst public Mass since March. Truly, you have been missed and prayed for daily. I now pray that we will continue moving forward and soon, be allowed to invite increased numbers to safely attend public Mass. As always, the clergy , staff and pandemic response team are working diligently to take care of you and one another. I thank you for your continued prayers and patience. Th is Sunday, the gospel invites us to trust in the words of St. John; “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth…you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you…I will not leave you orphans…”. Th e Lord invites you and me to dwell in an intimate relationship with Jesus, the new Advocate, who will unite Himself to us in baptism and, be with us always. In this truth, we have no fear. Now, we live in hope and with hearts fi lled with the joyful expectation that we will be united with Him and His Heavenly Father for all eternity. On May 6th, I was honored to celebrate a funeral for an 85 yr. old gentleman who succumbed to COVID-19 at our church. He had no siblings, his wife had pre-deceased him in 2007 and she, had no siblings. Together, they had only one child. Th eir daughter married for 18 years had no children. It was only she and her husband present for the funeral Mass. She told me that she had no anger towards God for the death of her father and instead, she was fi lled with utter joy and gratitude that the church would open its doors to her and honor her father with a Mass of Christian burial. She could not have more grateful, kind and fi lled with the comfort of God and the church. When we know “whose we are” and that in the sacred waters of baptism, we have thus become sharers in the wood of the cross, we celebrate our faith in both His Death and in His Resurrection. To share fully in the Victory of the Cross, we must fi rst suff er on the Wood of the Cross. We have no fear. For the Advocate, who is Christ in our midst, will never abandon of leave us orphaned…He will provide for our needs with solace, peace, and joy!

BAPTISM Infants and children under 6 years old:All parents are required to participate in a baptismal preparation process prior to the baptism of each child and are strongly encouraged to attend the classes during the second trimester of pregnancy. PASTORAL CARE & HOLY COMMUNION TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND Do you know someone who is ill, home-bound, in the hospital, or in an assisted living facility and in need of pastoral care? For those in need of prayer, Holy Communion, a pastoral visit and/or those who are interested in visiting the homebound or assisted living in need of prayer should contact Sister Ginny Braniff, MA at (713) 621-4370.
