Principal’s Report Dear Parents
EDUCATION WEEK
Next week we celebrate Education Week across Victoria. At Drouin South we
pride ourselves on being a school with a strong focus on our community. We
are fortunate to have such great support from parents and family members to ensure we can provide a nurturing learning environment for each of our
students. We have a great team of teaching and support staff who work
diligently to meet the needs of all students in their care and to engage them in learning tasks at their point of growth to help them learn not only the knowledge
and skills required but also to grow as life-long learners.
Technology, in particular digital technology is becoming a key tool for learning.
There is no escaping that digital technology is in every industry and plays a
major role in our everyday lives. At Drouin South Primary School we use a range of programs on laptop and desktop computers, interactive whiteboards and Apps
on iPads. We aim to continually increase the access to technology throughout
the school to ensure our students are “technology literate” citizens. The use of ICT in classrooms does not exist as a separate learning area and is integrated
throughout the curriculum.
OPEN CLASSROOMS - V.I.P.s
We welcome parents to come along and participate in classroom activities with
your child(ren) during Education Week. This opportunity will be next Thursday
19th May from 2.15pm. We will finish the day with a school assembly to
celebrate the great learning that has happened throughout the week. We look
forward to seeing parents, grandparents or Very Important Persons in your
child’s life during this session.
PREP INFORMATION NIGHT
We will be holding our information night soon for parents of prospective Prep
enrolments for 2017. This night will take place in the BER building commencing
at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15th June. If you know of anyone who has a Prep for
next year could you please pass on this information.

The children in 2/3A have been having a wonderful time developing their cooking skills this year. They have been working cooperatively with their
peers to follow recipes carefully and the end result is always delicious! It is great to see such enthusiasm during our cooking sessions — even when
we are cleaning up! Keep up the good work 2/3A
