From the Pastor’s Desk… Three weeks ago we celebrated Easter and on Easter Monday we were hosting the copy of the Icon of the Blessed Mother travelling from Ocean to Ocean. Two weeks ago we celebrated the Divine Mercy Sunday and the canonization of Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II. This weekend we celebrated the First Holy Communion and I want to congratulate the children and their parents on this special day. This weekend we also celebrate Mother’s Day and I pray for all our Mothers both living and deceased and I thank you for all your prayers for my mother. Please remember your mothers in the Mother’s Day Novena by giving us the names so we can remember them in all the masses that will be celebrated in May which is dedicated to our Blessed Mother. We thank our Catholic Women’s Club for organizing another May Crowning last week and we invite you to the May Crowning organized by our school on May 16, 2014 at 8:30am. In two weeks, our Deacon Mark along with 11 other Deacons from our Archdiocese will be ordained a priest on Saturday, May 17 at 10:00am at the Holy Name Cathedral by Cardinal Francis George. He will celebrate his first mass the next day, May 18 at 1:15pm at St. Albert the Great Parish in Burbank. Then, on Sunday, May 25 he will celebrate his first Mass here at St. Francis Borgia at 1:30pm (bilingual Mass). In June, Fr. Mark will go to Poland to celebrate a special Mass in his home parish to thank God for the gift of priesthood. Fr. Mark will begin his ministry at St. Francis Borgia as an Associate Pastor, July 1, 2014. Please support Deacon Mark with your prayers and please join us for all those joyous celebrations. I entrust to the Blessed Mother our First Communion children and their families.

RUMMAGE SALE RESULTS Through the generosity of the many people that donated usable clothing and household items and with the hard work of our wonderful volunteers, we were able to help hundreds of families with exceptionally low prices on these clothes and items. The remaining articles were donated to the Epilepsy Foundation where further good will come from them. Also, we made a net profit of $5,257 for our parish. School News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School Week of May 12, 2014 The final open School Advisory Board meeting of the

2013-2014 school year will be held on Monday, May 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fr. Stokes Center. The results of this year's Terra Nova tests will be presented.

Tuesday, May 13, is Hot Dog Lunch Day! Yum! The Chess Club will meet after school on Tuesday,

May 13. The Running Club will meet after school on Tuesday,

May 13. Induction of new members into the Junior Beta Club

will take place on Wednesday, May 14. The Junior Beta Club is committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, encouraging service to others, and developing character and leadership skills. Members must be an Honor Roll student at St. Francis Borgia School.

The Lego Club will meet after school on Thursday, May 15.

The Running Club will meet after school on Thursday, May 15.

Our May Crowning will take place at an all-school Mass on Friday, May 16, at 8:30 a.m. in church. Our First Communion students will process into church along with our eighth grade graduates. The second and eighth graders will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend.

The eighth grade event will take place on Friday, May 16, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Stokes Center.

Sister Marie Paul's music students will perform at recitals on Friday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18, at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Monday,

May 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Mayall Hall. All are welcome to attend.

The 1st grade will be planning the liturgy for the May Family Mass. Please join them at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 18. All are welcome.

St. Francis Borgia School could use some recycled

paper. This paper is used to make copies of worksheets and handouts the teachers use in their classrooms. Recycled paper is also used in the office copy machine. This is one of the ways we save on using good paper. It helps keep costs down and saves trees as well.

If you have paper that is clean on one side, has nothing inappropriate printed on the other side, and is flat (not bent or curled), and has not been stapled, we can use it! If you have letterhead that can no longer be used, we can use it! Please drop your paper donations at the school office on any regular school day between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Please come to the doors on Panama Avenue and ring the bell. Spotkania Rekolekcyjne W dniach 13, 14 i 15 maja o godz. 7:00 wieczorem w naszej parafii odbędzie się spotkanie rekolekcyjne z Lechem Dokowiczem– reżyserem takich filmów jak: „Egzorcysmy Annelise Michel,” „Ja Jestem,” „Duch,” „Syndrom,” „Ostatnie Wezwanie.” Tematem spotkań będą jego osobiste świadectwa oraz przykłady tego jak muzyka techno wpływa na psychikę człowieka. Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza… Trzy tygodnie temu przeżywaliśmy Święta Wielkanocne i staliśmy się świadkami Chrystusa Zmartwychstałego. W poniedziałęk Wielkanocny gościliśmy w naszej parafii kopię Cudownego Obrazu Matki Bożęj Częstochowskiej, która pielgrzymuje po całym świecie. Dziękuje grupie Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej za pomoc w zorganizowaniu tego nawiedzenia, Pani Teresie i jej rodzinie za piękne kwiaty przy obrazie i Wam wszystkim za wspaniały przykład miłości i czci do Maryi, Matki Boga i Matki naszej. Dwa tygodnie temu przeżywaliśmy Niedziele Miłosierdzia Bożego oraz kanonizacje Jana XXIII i Jana Pawłą II połączoną z tradycyjną parafialną Święconką. Dziękujemy ponownie grupie Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej za zorganizowanie Święconki połączonej z programem poświęconym kanonizowanym papieżom i za wasze wsparcie, dzięki któremy możemy przeznaczyc na renowacje naszego kościołą $1379 jako dochód ze Święconki. Bóg Zapłać. W ten weekend przeżwamy Dzień Matki i zapewniamy Was o pamięci w modlitwie i Mszach Św. o wszystkich Waszych Matkach tak żyjących jak i wszystkich zmarłych. Prosimy wypisać na kopertkach otrzymanych od marszałków imiona swoich Matek i w ich intencji będą odprawiane Msze Św. i Nabożeństwa Majowe do końca miesiąca Maja. Przekazujemy serdeczne gratulacje dla dzieci pierwszokomunijnych i ich rodziców z okazji Przyjęcia Pierwszej Komunii w ten weekend i zapraszamy na nabożeństwa majowe w czasie białego tygodnia, czyli pierwszego tygodnia po otrzymaniu Pierwszej Komunii Św.. Dziękuje rodzicom tych dzieci za dar pięknego ornatu z wizerunkiem Św. Jana Pawła II i dwóch Eucharystycznych proporców dekoracyjnych. Dziękujemy Katechetce Pani Ani Zawisza za trud włożony w przygotowanie dzieci do Pierwszej Komunii Św. Przypominamy o zapisach dzieci do naszej angielskiej szkoły katolickiej do wszystkich klas i do przedszkola dla 3-latków, 4-latków i zerówki.
