In the second feature, which was 30 laps,
our home town boy Tommy Rollins found himself back in victory lane by narrowly hold-ing off Garrett Jones. Jones is only fourteen years old and weighs about 90 pounds but he’s a big of a man as any of these behind the steering wheel of a race car. I admit at first I wasn’t really in favor of this new format but I will also admit that what I’ve seen so far I’m really impressed.
You fans should be treated to another
great night of racing tonight as the Pro Late Model’s will do it again along with the new Pro Truck divi-sion, which seem to be growing in numbers every time they race.
Also joining the racing action
are the Sports-man and Bombers. Chuck Corder has put together an in depth story on the leader in the Bombers. See page 3 for the look at Tracy Soles in an edited version of the full story on our web site.
We are well into the 2013 racing
season here at Five Flags Speedway and I’m yet to see any weakness in the caliber of racing we started the out with. The only minor weakness has been on the other side of the fence. We’ve had good crowds, but too many empty seats for the great competi-tion that has been seen so far, and the fans that have been present will verify what I’m saying.
If you missed our last race at America’s
Favorite Home Track, then SHAME ON YOU! All of our classes put on a great show but “WOW” let’s talk a minute about the Pro Late Models. Ocala Florida’s Ray Black Jr. won the first 20 lap feature as he lead the entire distance. Bryce Dulahban from Bald-win County Alabama dogged him the whole race looking inside and outside on every lap, but Black did not give an inch as he claimed his first checkered flag at the famed ole track.

This is a Double Header weekend at
Five Flags and Mobile International Speedway on Friday and Saturday nights.
Speaking of Double Headers, “Get Ready
to Rumble” as the Super Late Models will make their first appearance in just two weeks on May 24th at Five Flags and May 25th at Mobile. This will be race number 4 and 5 of the 16 race Southern Super Series schedule. Score Bubba Pollard 2 and Augie Grill 1 so far in the three race run. Can someone else knock these two off their pedestals?
Don’t miss any of the action in the
coming weeks and bring your family and friends. Until then Happy Mothers Day.

With the white flag waving Tracy Soles came off Turn 1 and the 17 year old couldn’t control it any longer. The car was as fine. His emotions, however, were a hot mess.
And so before the Tate High School senior collected his first career Butler U-Pull-It Bombers class check-ered flag, he was bawling like a baby.
“It finally happened,” he remembers. “It was unbelievable. I had to slow down, hit my marks and make sure I was not going to lose this chance.”
He gripped the steering wheel tight and brought the car safely across the finish line on opening night. That was the first of two wins in what has been a breakout season for the young man who doesn’t have the traditional background one might expect from a teenager driver.“I had never driven anything before four years ago,”
My, how times have changed. Soles is a fixture these days at Pensacola’s high banks. Despite his two wins, he sits fourth in the points standings — a fact that is easily explained by an unfortunate disquali-fication in March.
On that night, Soles appeared to have gone back-to-back, winning for a second consecutive time. But technical inspection overturned the victory on a brakes issue.
“That let the mood down,” But instead of letting the decision affect him negatively, he used it as fuel for the next feature.
Soles dominated the April 12 race, leading every lap and pulling away to a full straightaway margin en route to his second (official) win. “I had to prove a point,” The car’s not gonna fall apart. And I just have to worry about the driving now.
Soles had been turning wrenches on friend and fellow driver Courtney Rodrigues’ Bombers car when he decided he wanted to try his luck.To say that first year was a nightmare is being nice.“A crash fest,” Soles summed up succinctly. “It was trial and a lot of error. Really it was getting seat time. It was wreck after wreck, but I think it helped me because I learned a lot about fixing cars.” The good-natured and self-deprecating Soles also quickly learned that the community along pit row is more often family rather than rivals.---Read the rest of Chuck’s story on our web site: WWW.5FLAGSSPEEDWAY.COM
