SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN NEPAL The devastating earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday, April 24, has caused much suffering. According to the latest reports, more than 6,000 people have been killed. Thousands of people are in need of food, emergency shelter, blankets, water treatment kits, and hygiene kits. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked us to respond through a second collection for funds that will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services as they address the immediate emergency needs for such necessities as water, food, shelter and medical care as well as the long-term needs to rebuild the communities in the regions hit with widespread destruction. Please pray for the victims of this humanitarian crisis. A special collection is being taken up today. Please make a generous and heartfelt donation.

COLLECTION FOR CARE & EDUCATION OF PRIESTS. Thank you for your generosity in last weeks second collection. The collection total was $ 727.00.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND Next week, our Parish will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign. This collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our Diocese and support local needs, so please be generous in this collection.

HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION

This Thursday, May 14th, the Ascension of the Lord, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Vigil Mass is May 13th at 6:00PM at St. Augustine. Holy Day Mass is May 14th, at 6:00PM at St. Francis.

MOTHER’S DAY CARNATION SALE TODAY

Carnations are being sold this weekend at all Masses. Remember your Mother on Mother’s Day with carnations. Vases are by the Blessed Mother statue for carnations if your Mother is de-ceased. Donation is $ 1.00 per flower. Benefits Pa. for Human Life, Susquehanna Co. Chapter.

MOTHER’S DAY MASS NOVENA Mother’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards and envelopes are available in the back of the Churches. A Novena of Masses will be offered beginning May 10th for Mothers’ living & deceased. Intentions will be placed on the Altar. For deceased Mothers’, please use only the Intention Envelope.

FIRST COMMUNION Congratulations to our First Communion Students who received this very special Sacrament last Sunday at St. Augustine. Students who received the Sacrament are: Paley Adams, Kaitlyn Andre, Rori Gurn, Norah Milligan, Katie Pichette, and Hannah Rebello. Congratulations girls!!!

ALTAR & ROSARY BANQUET If you signed up for the Banquet and haven’t paid yet, please do so A.S.A.P. Please send money in to the Rectory or give to an Altar & Rosary Member.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS We are still looking for number 795, which was not signed out and hasn’t been returned.

BUS TRIP TO PHILADELPHIA TO SEE POPE FRANCIS We have filled one bus already and have 13 people on a waiting list. We have the opportunity to rent a second bus if we get 14 more people to sign up. We need to know by THIS TUESDAY, MAY 12TH AT 12NOON. Please call the Rectory (570-553-2288) as soon as you can if you would like to attend. The date of the trip is Sunday, September 27th. Your seat on the bus will be

reserved when you call. Cost per person for the bus is $ 40.00. Meals are extra. (Or you can bring a brown bag lunch.) Further information will be in the bulletin as details become available.

ANNUAL ST. BRIGID PARISH GARAGE SALE AT NEUMANN CENTER The Annual Garage Sale at Neumann Center, Choconut will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 12/13, from 8AM to 6PM. You can participate in one of the following ways: Rent a table for $ 5.00 to sell your own treasures. You may set up after 5:00PM on Thursday, June 11th, OR donate items to the Parish to be sold. Items must be clean, usable, and working. We will accept clean children’s clothing this year. We will accept items on Thursday, June 11th, after 5:00PM. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked us to respond through a second collection for funds that will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services as they address the immediate emergency needs for such necessities as water, food, shelter and medical care as well as the long-term needs to rebuild the communities in the regions hit with widespread destruction. Please pray for the victims of this humanitarian crisis. A special collection is being taken up today. Please make a generous and heartfelt donation.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND Next week, our Parish will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign. This collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our Diocese and support local needs, so please be generous in this collection.

This Thursday, May 14th, the Ascension of the Lord, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Vigil Mass is May 13th at 6:00PM at St. Augustine. Holy Day Mass is May 14th, at 6:00PM at St. Francis.

BUS TRIP TO PHILADELPHIA TO SEE POPE FRANCIS We have filled one bus already and have 13 people on a waiting list. We have the opportunity to rent a second bus if we get 14 more people to sign up. We need to know by THIS TUESDAY, MAY 12TH AT 12NOON. Please call the Rectory (570-553-2288) as soon as you can if you would like to attend. The date of the trip is Sunday, September 27th. Your seat on the bus will be

ANNUAL ST. BRIGID PARISH GARAGE SALE AT NEUMANN CENTER The Annual Garage Sale at Neumann Center, Choconut will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 12/13, from 8AM to 6PM. PARISH FUND RAISING MEETING There will be a meeting for the Parish Picnic and Pot O’Gold Party on Wednesday, May 27th, at 6:30PM in Neumann Hall. New Chairpersons are needed for the Picnic. Good mentors are available to help new Chairpersons! Anyone interested in helping with either fund raiser is welcome to attend.

MEMORIAL DAY MASS Mass will be held Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day, at 10:00AM in St. John’s Cemetery. On this day we remember those who proudly served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, as well as all our deceased loved ones. Please bring your own lawn chairs to the cemetery. If the weather is inclement, Mass will be held in St. Francis Church at 10:00AM. All parishioners and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.

2014 GRADUATES If your child is graduating from High School or college this year, please call the rectory or put a note in the collection with his or her name. A special Mass for Graduates Intentions will be held Sunday, June 28th. The location will be decided by where most of our graduates attend Mass.

CHURCH SOFTBALL NEWS The Church Softball Season has begun! Last Saturday we played Hope Baptist Church at our home field in Choconut. We won the game 20 to 3! Congratulations! THIS Saturday, May 9th, we play at the LeRaysville Field against Dille Parish. Next Saturday, May 16th, we play at home against Braintrim Baptist. More/new players are needed. DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE SHRINES OF FRANCE Only a few seats remain for a 9-day pilgrimage to the shrines of France, August 23-September 1, 2015. ONE DAY RETREAT A one day Retreat with Matthew Arnold will be held Saturday June 6th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish at the St. Mary of the Assumption worship site, 245 State St. (US Rt. 6) in Wyalusing.
