May 1, 2020 Announcements COVID Response YaleNewHavenHealthcontinuestoseeadailydeclineinhospitalizationsforCOVID-19.Whilethisencouragingprogresshelpsusalltolooktowardfutureplanning,theleadershipofSmilowCancerHospitalandYaleCancerCenterisfocusedonthedailyprotectionandcareofourpatients.Weinstitutedmanystrategicstepstoensureourpatientshaveaccesstothecancertreatmentandcaretheyneed,allwhilebeingcarefultoprotectourphysicians,nurses,caregivers,andstaff.Wheneverpossible,wearemakingaconcertedefforttofollow-upwithourpatientsremotely.BetweenMarchandApril,wesawa187%increaseinfollow-upvisitsbyvideoanda162%increasebyphone.ThetotalchangeinvideoandphoneutilizationfromMarch15toApril19was356%.Injustthelastweek,Smilowclinicianscompleted2,115videoandphonevisits.Atthesametime,patientsneedingtreatmentarescheduledwithexpandedhoursofferedinmanyofourCareCenterlocationstominimizecontactandmaximizesocialdistancing.Oncologicsurgeriesareproceeding,asneeded,ontheSaint
