IP network
What is iSCSI?What is iSCSI?
iSCSI is an abbreviation of Internet Small Computer SystemInterface (SCSI) an IP-based storage networking standard
for linkingdata storage facilities by DAS or SAN connections.
Unlike traditional SCSI and Fibre Channel, which requires special
purpose cabling, iSCSI can be run over long distances using existing
network infrastructure.By carrying SCSI commands over IP networks.

SCSISCSI iSCSIiSCSI
iSCSI requires normal Ethernet cable to directly connect server and RAID; unlike SCSI must use specific SCSI HBA and cable.
Directly connection length of iSCSI cable reaches to 100 meter which much over maximum 12meter of SCSI cable.

iSCSI SANiSCSI SAN
FC SANs are dedicated storage networks, whose deployment requires specialized host bus adapters, specialized FC switches and FC storage arrays. Although all of these components are costly and add a layer of complexity
iSCSI can easily be deployed on the commodity networking hardware without expansive equipments of FC HBA, cable and switch.

Difference of iSCSI, NASDifference of iSCSI, NAS
Same as traditional SCSI and FCinterface, iSCSI require block-levelaccess to the hard drives such asemail servers, databases, and high usage file servers.
Network Attached Storage (NAS) uses
file-based protocols such as NFS or
SMB/CIFS for remote files sharing.

Maxtronic redundant system design extends the no-single-point-failure to the controller entity.
Two controllers in one system. They are named by controller A (left/top), and controller B (right/bottom).
A full-duplex RCC (redundant communication channel) is established for synchronization purpose.
- Configuration
- Object state
- Write cache
The write-cache data is preserved only when one of the controller is failed.
