I am an easy going studio photographer. While I will always have a plan for our session together, I let your newborn take the lead and very much work to your baby’s needs. If you have anything in particular you’d like in your session, I certainly welcome your suggestions. From your ideas on the style and type of images you're after, to the use of props in your session, along with coloucolours and materials you'd like in your photographs.My aim for every session I do is to produce art quality images that become signature pieces for your home.

I specialise in family portrait studio photography. I have been photographing families for well over 10 years now and although handling of newborns is new to me your baby's safety is of the utmost importance. Please take a moment to read this guide, it will help you prepare your little one (and yourself) for a successful and stress-free newborn session with maxam photo. Hello and welcome to Maxam Photo. My name is Paul and I am a professional photographer based in Devon.

MMy newborn obsession is with light, love, joy and captur-ing pure newborns in their very first days of life. (Under two weeks ideally). Photographing newborns is new to me but an absolute passion! I LOVE creating images that will last a lifetime. And I truly love it even more when parents burst with excitement over my work when they see the end results.

I really do LOVE what I do and I am so excited to be able to capture images just for you.

A photA photo, I believe, is something that stops a moment in time. To help us remember how you felt….right at that point in time. eir smell, their touch, their innocence and true beauty of being a newborn. I love to create this record of art for my clients to cherish every part and moment of their newborn - from their beautiful eye-lashes, squishy lips, and soft wisps of hair, to their tiny hands and feehands and feet. In years to come, my hope is that, the images will take you back to the day your newborn was tiny enough to fit in the palm of your hand and the days when they feel asleep on your chest.

Tips• Please set aside an entire afternoon for your session

• e session i• e session involves a lot of down time involving rocking and swaying trying to get your baby soothed. More time is spent doing this than actually taking the photos.

• I • I will handle and pose your baby, but I may need your help if I’m unable to soothe them. I will also need your help with baby’s safety - this is of the utmost importance.

• After your baby has been fed and is full and sleepy we will start the session.

• I • I keep the studio very warm for the sake of the baby since he is in his birthday suit for most shots.

• I do usually get photos with the parents, whether posed or not, so please be ready for that.

• I• If your baby uses a dummy, please bring it - it can be really helpful. If not, please be on standby with your finger.

• Your baby is the boss. If they are hungry then we will stop everything for them to be fed, however often that is.

• I• If your baby is bottle fed, please be prepared with lots of bottles. Baby’s normally feed more during a session than they normally would because they are being woken up so often.

• I li• I like to keep talking to a minimum so that we are able to keep the baby asleep.

• I• If you’re after sibling and family shots we will do them first. Most siblings attention span last no more than half an hour so I try to do these shots first before we concentrate on individual baby shots, then the rest of the family have the option of leaving sooner, hohowever I can provide young siblings with colouring in books and pencils.

A nA newborn session can take 2-4 hours, we won’t rush at all and simply follow baby’s lead! We will spend lots of time simply soothing and snug-gling your little one, so feel free to bring snacks, a book, or take a doze. It is very important to remember that your baby will not perform on demand, my little experience has already shown if you start stressing about the baby not settling, the baby will pick up on it, so please come along, chill out and relax!

In the time leading up to your session, I ask that you play and interact with your awake baby lots. We want baby to be nice and sleepy during the session, not ready to play!

A baby with a full tummy is a happy, sleepy baby. Please be prepared to feed baby a few times during your session. I recommend you wait to feed baby at my studio, before the session starts (if this is possible).

Please bring some Please bring some extra wipes, burp cloths, and maybe even a spare shirt as almost all parents get peed or pooped on during a session. It’s hard to avoid with a naked newborn around, and please don’t get flustered if this does happen. Your baby isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last.

e e room will be nice and toasty warm, as we want baby to be comfort-able enough to sleep in the nude. You may want to dress in ‘light’ clothes, so as not to get too hot yourselves and stay comfortable. I can use a heat pad on my posing bean bag to ensure your naked baby doesn’t feel too exposed being naked. I also use ‘white noise/baby sounds’ as background noise as a way of settling baby, this has proven to be a great comfort for newborns.

Being a dad myself, I will at all times have your baby’s safety and comfort as paramount. When you baby reaches that deep sleep cycle, I will be able to position them into various poses to achieve maximum cuteness!

Please jot down a list of newborn poses or shots that you’d like to have with your baby, but remember that we will follow the lead of the baby. Not all babies like certain poses, but I promise we’ll do the best we can!

Viewing Your Photos...• Within three weeks of our session your digital proofs will be ready. I select 25-50 of the best images from our session and edit them so they will be ready for ordering.

• • Proofs can be viewed in a private, online gallery (login details will be provided after our session) with full ordering capability.

• I am also mo• I am also more than happy and would love to have an in-person consultation slideshow. Let me help you decide what to do with all of your lovely images! • My print quality is of the highest standard - your images should last over 100 years in a typical home display and over 200 years in dark storage.

Newborn Session Fee £3502-4 hours in studio. Sessions are held when your baby is around 7-14 days old. All Newborn sessions include family/parent shots and a sibling shot (if siblings cooperate and if that is what you want!).

Maternity Session Fee £25060 minutes in studio. Maternity sessions are best held between 34 & 37 weeks pregnant. Maternity sessions can be held at a location of your choice for a £100 location fee.
