The rebuild will involve removing approximately 49 miles of existing 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission facilities and replacing them with sturdier facilities of the same voltage. In most instances, the existing H-frame poles will be replaced with sturdier, single-pole steel structures and new wire that can carry more current.
With the existing infrastructure aging, local field personnel identified the need to upgrade these facilities to bring them up to current standards and ensure continued reliable power.
The line extends from a PSOsubstation south of Weleetka to an OG&E substation located west of Maud. The Company has existing easements for the rebild lines; some, however, will need updated or supplemented.
WHAT WHY WHERE
MAUD TO WELEETKA138KV TRANSMISSION LINE REBUILD
AEP Oklahoma Transmission Company, an affiliate of Public Service
Company of Oklahoma (PSO), is planning to rebuild approximately 49
miles of electric transmission line to bring the system up to current
standards and ensure continued reliable power. The line originates at an
existing PSO substation south of Weleetka, then heads west towards
Earlsboro before turning south to reach an OG&E substation located west
of Maud. The rebuild project will involve removing existing transmission
facilities and replacing them with steel structures and new wire. These
improvements are necessary to ensure the continued reliability of the
electrical system.
