Matthew 6:24Teaching on laying up treasure, Jesus said

‘You cannot serve God and mammon.’

(NKJV)

2

Jesus said…..‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be

also.’

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)

Page 3: Matthew 6:24

3

Who are you serving?

Page 4: Matthew 6:24

4

Is it God…..

Page 5: Matthew 6:24

5

…….or is it Mammon?

Page 6: Matthew 6:24

6

Who is God?‘…the Lord God Almighty, who

was and is and is to come!’

Revelation 4:8 (ESV)

Page 7: Matthew 6:24

7

Who, or what, is Mammon….A world system describing the

accumulation of wealth

Page 8: Matthew 6:24

8

...a world system often

characterised as a false god…….

Page 9: Matthew 6:24

9

Which taken from the original

Syriac/Aramaic language (which

Jesus spoke) means…..

Page 10: Matthew 6:24

10

‘that in which one trusts’

Page 11: Matthew 6:24

11

So what Jesus was saying was……

We cannot serve God as well as

‘that in which we trust’ (unless the two are one and the same)

Page 12: Matthew 6:24

12

So…...….the question

remains – who do we serve; what are

we trusting in?

Page 13: Matthew 6:24

13

It’s an important question…..

…because we can only serve one

master. Only one way can be

correct!

Page 14: Matthew 6:24

14

(Unless you have worked out how to

travel in two differing directions at the same time!)

Page 15: Matthew 6:24

15

Jesus also said…..(…just in case we didn’t get

the message the first time…..)

Page 16: Matthew 6:24

16

Matthew 12:30‘Whoever is not

with me is against me, and whoever does not gather

with me scatters’

(ESV)

Page 17: Matthew 6:24

17

So…..….in which direction is

your life going?

Page 18: Matthew 6:24

18

…..are you looking to

God?

Page 19: Matthew 6:24

19

….or are you looking

elsewhere to place your

trust?

Page 20: Matthew 6:24

20

Hence our scripture of the

year Philippians 3:13-

14

Page 21: Matthew 6:24

21

‘Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my

own. But one thing I do:’

Note - just One thing

Page 22: Matthew 6:24

22

…forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies

ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.’

Page 23: Matthew 6:24

23

One goal One prize One God One way

Page 24: Matthew 6:24

24

John 14:6Remember, Jesus said…..

‘I am the way, and the truth and the life. No

one comes to the Father except through Me.’

(ESV)

Which is your way?
