The Objective
The student, given a whole number from 0 to 100, will identify it as a perfect square or find the two consecutive whole numbers between which the square root lies.

Words to KNOW!• Perfect square:
a whole number whose square root is a wholeNumber
√25 = 5 makes 25 a perfect square √16 = _____makes 4 a perfect square
• Square root: when you multiply a number by itself, such as 2 x 2,
you get 4, a perfect square. √ 4 = 2.
