Materials Manager/Surgical Tech Job Description Job Title: Material Manager Reports to: Administrator Job Summary: Working in accordance with standardized procedures is responsible for purchasing of all stock and non‐stock supplies of the center. Handles receiving and inspection of shipments, verifying contents for accuracy against purchase order and for possible damage. Maintains record of requisitions, purchase orders, and reconciles any discrepancies. Acts as a contact with vendors to obtain information on products and pricing. Maintains appropriate levels of inventory for all areas of the center. Coordinates inventory reports for twice a year. Manages contacting support services for maintenance and repair at the center. Demonstrates the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre- operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse. Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated. Surgeon. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. 10. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room. Qualifications: Ability to read, write, type, and perform calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of high school. Knowledge of medical terminology and department supply items. Ability to prepare reports and keep records Skills to maintain effective communication with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. Good command of the English language, both verbal and written. 1 year Surgical Scrub Tech Experience Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50 pounds. Stooping and bending. Normal office environment with occasional exposure to dust and dirt associated with receiving supplies.
