This area is designated as personal use only for harvest of dead-down and/or dead-standing spruce. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Wednesday, August 1 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of three cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Harvest is only allowed within the blue-flagged area marked on the ground and identified on the location map. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Tuesday, August 7 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Permits may also be obtained at the Talkeetna Library 11am-6pm, Mon.-Sat. The MSB proposes to exchange MSB land (Lot 11, West Big Lake Subdivision, containing 43+/- acres) for a portion of U of A property (within Section 13, T16N, R5W, tax parcel A001, containing approx. 174+/- acres). The exchange will provide U of A access from Susitna Parkway to their property lying to the south and east, and allow MSB the opportunity to gain valuable wetlands which can be classified as Wetland Bank Lands. The Butte Personal Use Firewood Harvest Area will open Friday, August 3, 2012. This area is designated as personal use only for harvest of dead-down and/or dead-standing spruce. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Wednesday, August 1 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of three cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2012. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at745-9869 if you have any questions.

The Parks Highway Mile 92 Personal Use Area for mixed sawtimber and spruce sawlogs is available on a � rst-come � rst-served basis beginning Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Harvest is only allowed within the blue-� agged area marked on the ground and identi� ed on the location map. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Tuesday, August 7 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Permits may also be obtained at the Talkeetna Library 11am-6pm, Mon.-Sat. Please contact the Talkeetna Library at 733-2359 or [email protected] if you have any questions regarding their hours of operation.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) is acquiring right-of way from the University of Alaska (U of A) for the Port MacKenzie Rail Extension Project (PMRE). The MSB proposes to exchange MSB land (Lot 11, West Big Lake Subdivision, containing 43+/- acres) for a portion of U of A property (within Section 13, T16N, R5W, tax parcel A001, containing approx. 174+/- acres). The exchange will provide U of A access from Susitna Parkway to their property lying to the south and east, and allow MSB the opportunity to gain valuable wetlands which can be classi� ed as Wetland Bank Lands.

Supporting material is available for public inspection during normal business hours on the 2nd � oor of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough building in the Land Management Division or Public Works Pre-Design Division.
