PROGRAM OVERVIEW The dynamic MBA programs at Utah Valley University embrace the university’s designation as an “Engaged Learning” campus by focusing on practical application and engaged, team-based learning. Students further strengthen their business acumen through case studies, simulations, projects, and interactions with organizations and business leaders on a regional, national, and international level.

With the help of faculty, students will immerse themselves in all aspects of business management, including accounting, leadership, marketing, economics, ethics, and social responsibility. The MBA program at UVU is now delivered in Orem (Full-time Day and Part-time Evening courses) and at Thanksgiving Point (Part-time Evening).

FACULTY EXPERTISE The UVU MBA Program is comprised of faculty with both academic prowess and business acumen. Considered experts in their industries, our faculty bring real-world experiences to the classroom, some having held executive positions at some of the top companies in the world or having led their own company to great success. Students will learn from those who are most capable of preparing them for leadership positions in the workforce. These faculty experts have embraced the academic arena and are actively conducting research with the assistance of MBA students, giving them professional research, writing, presenting, and publishing experience.

One such faculty member is Cary Wasden. Cary worked in finance on Wall Street for 20 years and for a number of those years was ranked as one of the top financial analysts in the world. He prepares our students for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam which is universally considered one of the world’s most difficult exams. Nationwide stats show CFA Level 1 test-takers average a combined pass rate of 43 percent, while UVU students have a pass rate of 65 percent on their first attempt. His expertise makes UVU a unique place for students pursuing a career in finance. UVU students have been chosen for employment over those from other MBA programs due to the strength of the finance focus.

Another expert faculty member is Jim Mortensen, who teaches global business strategy. From his work as a management consultant for the internationally recognized firm of Booz, Allen and Hamilton, Jim brings practical skills to the program including strategy, leadership coaching, human capital management, organizational development, and strategic planning. He is one of the faculty who teaches students the MBA capstone course, leading students in fee-for-service engagements with community and corporate partners, with students learning how to solve complicated problems in supply chain solutions, marketing and branding, valuations, and other topical applications.

“I love the faculty in this program. They sincerely want you to succeed once you have finished the program. The knowledge I have gained by completing the MBA at UVU has enhanced the value that I am able to provide to my organization. When I first graduated from the MBA program and started my first job, I used concepts I learned in the program immediately. I would have not known where to start or what things to consider had I not taken the courses in this MBA program.” HANNAH LOCKHART
