ABOUT THE PROGRAMMount Mary University’s Master of Arts in English is a 30-credit program that offers two areas of study: Professional and New Media Writing, and Creative Writing.

Accreditation

The Mount Mary University Master of Arts in English program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges.

Completion Time

A student taking six to nine credits each semester can complete the program within two years. Students have a maximum of seven years to complete the program.

PROGRAM DETAILSA minimum of 30 credits is required for the Master of Arts in English program, including:

• 9 credits in required writing workshop courses

• 6 credits in required literature courses

• 12-15 credits in a selected specialized area of study

• 3 credits of thesis supervision

An optional internship may be taken for three credits.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIESThe program provides internship opportunities with area businesses and non-profits. Internships are an excellent way to strengthen your knowledge, network with industry leaders, and gain professional experience. Internships are optional but a recommended component of the master’s program.
