President of Foundation Child
The Foundation Child for Study and Research into Childhood and
Adolescence was created in 1998 with the contribution of “S.O.S. Il Telefono
Azzurro – National Helpline for the Prevention of Child Abuse”.
The aim of Foundation Child is to promote a child-centered culture through a
close examination of the causes and treatments of physical and mental
diseases, as well as of behavioral and mood difficulties in children and
adolescents.
The Foundation Child encourages researchers and interested people to
enhance their motivation, interest and competence in the field of child and
adolescent mental health.
OBJECTIVES
to support research on developmental psychopathology, particularly on biological, cognitive, emotional and social development;
to support the following disciplines: child psychiatry, pediatric, genetic, psychology, neuroscience, molecular biology, epidemiology;
to apply scientific evidences and to spread knowledge among the public and the professionals, by awareness, training activities and social policies.
THE FOUNDATION OPERATES IN THE
FOLLOWING AREAS:
Train young researchers who wish to acquire specific knowledge in the area of developmental pathology: the training activities include short periods of study on specific subjects and the creation of scholarships.
Support career advancement for clinical researchers who wish to pursue systematic research on developmental psychopathology (both academics and researchers already trained)
Support research programs and projects (short and long-term impact of abuse, neglect and other types of trauma; new and effective methods of prevention; the impact of the experience on neurobiological and mental development)
Promote innovative training and communication including work groups; exchange programs with overseas universities; scientific consultations and meetings.

10 years of seminars
for young researchers
in child psychiatry
In recent years, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has seen a dramatic growth with the introduction of new and refined diagnostic tools as well as advancements in therapeutic and preventive approaches to developmental psychopathology.
The aim of these courses is to provide insights not only on relevant elements of clinical practice and research, but also on those aspects which may complete the educational background of the young specialists, such as basic principles of leadership, public speaking, and communication.

ERICE (Empowerment and Resilience
in Children Everywhere)
ERICE works to promote human rights, joint action, training and interventional projects focused on enhancing the well-being of children and families affected by the Palestinian- Israeli conflict.
Created by Foundation Child and ICACAPAP (International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions), the group held the first meeting in Berlin (Italian Embassy) in 2004
ERICE group represents a think tank for the research and the intervention aimed at protecting children and adolescents affected by the devastating effects of war
The next ERICE group meeting will take place at the
Innocenti Centre in Florence (August 25-29, 2013). A major focus of this meeting will be on developing sustainable Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs in communities on the West Bank
The Child Mind Institute's Speak Up for Kids is an annual public
education program, which was created in 2010 to encourage child
mental health professionals across the country to give scientifically
sound talks in their communities about childhood mental disorders
and topics relating to raising healthy, happy kids.
On May 2013, the Child Mind Institute launched the third annual
Speak Up Campaign.
Foundation Child actively collaborated with the Child Mind Institute
by spreading the word throughout its network and by launching such a
communication campaign in Italy.
The aim of the course is to provide a high-quality intensive training experience that will offer training on the relevant elements of clinical science (diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the most important childhood psychiatric disorders) and research (designing a research project, research methods, basic principles of statistics, writing and presenting scientific work).
In addition, the course is designed to provide tutorials, networking and other valuable educational activities that will enhance the education of junior investigators.
