Cronológicamente, la cursiva romana se ubica entre el siglo I a.C. y el siglo IV d.C., y se desarrolla al mismo tiempo que las escrituras o�ciales del estado, capitalis rustica, uncial o quadrata.
Se suele considerar la forma cursiva de la letra mayúscula. Mientras que la cuadrada y la rustica se trazan de manera lenta y meticulosa, la cursiva romana parece estar escrita de forma rápida, descuidada, por lo que suele resultar difícil de leer.
En realidad, el desorden aparentemente rítmico (el caos) de la línea tiene una extraordinaria musicalidad que se expresa en las conexiones de las letras. En mi opinión, se trata de escritura en estado puro. Su protagonista no es una forma geométrica, sino la línea. Una línea que baila, que se mueve en el espacio, creando armonía entre los signos; las letras no se forman de acuerdo a un rígido esquema preestablecido, sino que se modi�can conforme a cada movimiento.
Este curso tiene como objetivo hacer un alto y considerar en mayor detalle este aspecto de las líneas de escritura que "danzan" en el espacio, y su potencial expresivo. Exploraremos los "rasgos horizontales" (caligrafía árabe y latina) y los “rasgos verticales" (china)de la escritura .
Vamos a explorar además aspectos más experimentales, como el uso de diversas herramientas de escritura (en primer lugar el pincel de punta �na) y técnicas de desarrollo e investigación de la expresividad.
Al �nal del curso los participantes diseñarán y encuadernarán uno o más libritos. El estudiante tendrá ocasión de poner en práctica todos los elementos que haya descubierto durante el proceso, explotando los aspectos compositi-vos y creativos de la caligrafía.

Cursive calligraphy is full of movement and emotion. Calligraphy that runs along the page, in the full �ow of writing, is �lled with movement and life. Cursive writing breathes rhythmically, like a dancer. Cursive writing is a graphic dance.”

Chronologically the Roman Cursive is inserted between the I century B.C. and the IV century A.D. This style develops at the same time as the of�cial writings of the State, Capitalis Rustica, Uncial and Quadrata.
Commonly it is considered the cursive form of the capital letter. While the Quadrata and Rustica are written carefully and meticulously, the Roman Cursive seems to be written quickly, without care, and is often dif�cult to read.
In reality its apparent rhythmic disorder (chaos) has an extraordinary musicali-ty of the line that is expressed through the connections between the letters. It is, in my opinion, pure writing. Its protagonist is not a geometric form, but the LINE. A line that dances, that moves in the space, until it creates a harmony of signs, the letters are not formed according to a rigid pre-ordered scheme, but are modi�ed according to the single movement.
This course aims to stop and consider this aspect of the lines of writing that “dance” in the space, and its expressive potentialities in greater detail. We will explore the “horizontal movings” (latin, arabic calligraphy) and the “vertical movings” of the writing (Chinese).
We intend also to work on the more experimental aspects. The use of writing tools (�rst of all the �ne-pointed brushes) and different techniques of develo-pment and research of the expressive.
At the end of the course, participants will design and bind one or more small booklets. The student will put all the elements that they have discovered during the process into practice, exploiting the compositional and creative aspects of calligraphy.
