Sunday Childcare & Preschool

Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church strives to support and encourage families to deepen their relationship with God at every age. We work to create a loving Church culture which feeds both the children and their parents. The programs offered below give children a chance to establish community, learn about God and love Church from a young age. In turn we hope to give parents and couples the freedom to attend Mass independently, to be nourished by the word of God, and then filled with the Spirit to go home and serve. Childcare: "St. John's Childcare is open during the 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. Masses. We serve children 9 months through 2 years of age. Please register and enjoy!"

Sunday School: "Sunday School Classes are open for registered children ages 3 through 6 years of age! Parents, here is an easy way to connect with the lessons:

3-4 year class: The children discuss the many details which make them special and unique. Sit down and read the favorites your child listed in class.

4-5 year class: Your child has a special message to shout through the new megaphone from class. Ask to hear the verse...outside may be a good idea! Kinder class: We talk our Sacred Scripture. Find out how and why your child discussed, created, and ate scrolls!

Children's Liturgy is here to serve 1st through 4th graders during the 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. Masses.

Faith Formation Child Faith Formation Gospel Weekly Family Reflection: "God's Vineyard" Jesus asks us to care for God's vineyard and use His gifts (GRACE) to do good deeds or produce good fruits. Do we offer Him the best we can give or do we offer Him sour grapes? Do you keep God's gifts for yourself or are you sharing with others? God wants something from us ....our holiness & love for God & others. Action: What bad habit can we try to stop doing this week? What is one “good deed” we can do to build up the kingdom of God? Begin today.....God loves us and gives us so much. Much is expected of those given much. "The family that prays together, stays together." Dear Jesus & Mary, Help us pray the Family Rosary in October for the month of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. She asks us to pray it daily for peace in our family and our world.

See how nature, the trees, the flowers, the grasses grow in perfect silence ... see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life." – St Teresa of Calcutta Your special hour of silence is awaiting you. Home Visit Ministry “Home Visitation, connecting the dots and doing God’s work.”, a Home Visitor testimonial: Last week Mary Coulter and I went on Home Visitation. We did not know what to expect since we had never gone out in the evening around dinner time. Not only was everyone home, but they welcomed us warmly. At one home we had a particularly blessed experience. We encountered a gentleman who did not attend mass regularly but confessed that he should because his children needed to start catechism classes. We felt the gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit as he began to ask us questions. After giving him the necessary information to start the process we left feeling that we were the feet and hands of God in reaching out to fellow parishioners through the Home Visitation Ministry. ~Emmi Nathan

Interfaith Shelter Network Update

It is with deep regret that we have to announce that the Saint Martin de Porres’ “Annual Christmas/New Year Interfaith Shelter Network Program” has been suspended for 2017 and 2018. The ISN Program provides temporary shelter/housing for folks while they are actively looking for employment, or are working and are saving money for their own housing. ISN is run by Mercy House and supported by various churches throughout Orange County, and has undergone a significant restructuring - the year-round program has been reduced to a six-month program, beginning in early April and running through mid August. If there are any changes, we will let everyone know immediately so that we can resume our program in 2019. Please keep the ISN Program and all the folks involved in your prayers. Jody & Ronnie Martin, SMdP Interfaith Shelter Program Directors
