BACK TO SCHOOL TIME Once again, the summer seemed to fly by
and it is ‘back to school time’ for the students and teachers in our community. The beginning of a new school year brings mixed emotions. There is excitement about seeing your school friends again, but there is also some anxiety and nervousness about new teachers and new subjects to learn. Some young people are beginning new schools and that always brings a level of anxiety. Parents, I know you also worry about your children because you want your children to be safe and protected and to grow in grace and knowledge. As the new school year begins be assured of our prayers for all children and families. I offer you this prayer as we ask Almighty God to bless our children, parents, teachers, and school staff as they begin another school year.
PRAYER FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS.
Lord God, we praise you for the gift of our life
and the blessings of mind, body, and spirit. Bless our children as they begin another school
year. Fill them with the gifts of wisdom, knowledge and
understanding. Bless parents of our school children.
We pray all homes are schools of love and faith. Bless teachers and all the staff who work in our
schools. Bless those who drive the buses, prepare the meals, keep our school clean and the police and security
who keep us safe. We pray that our students will devote themselves to their studies and draw ever close to you, the source
of all knowledge. We pray that our teachers teach with gentle
patience. Grant that we may always follow Our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, forever and ever.

DE REGRESO AL TIEMPO ESCOLAR
Una vez más, al parecer el verano pasó volando y es el "tiempo de regreso a la escuela" para los
estudiantes y maestros de nuestra comunidad. El comienzo de un nuevo año escolar trae emociones
encontradas. Hay entusiasmo por volver a ver a tus amigos de la escuela, pero también hay cierta ansiedad y nerviosismo acerca de los nuevos
maestros y las nuevas asignaciones de aprender. Algunos jóvenes están comenzando nuevas escuelas y eso siempre trae niveles de emoción. Padres, sé que también se preocupan por sus hijos porque
quiere sus hijos estén seguros y protegidos, y que crezcan en gracia y conocimiento. Al comenzar un
nuevo año escolar, tengan la confianza que nuestras oraciones serán por todos los niños y sus familias.
Les ofrezco esta oración mientras le pedimos a Dios Todopoderoso que bendiga a nuestros hijos, padres,
maestros y personal de la escuela cuando comienzan otro año escolar.
ORACIÓN PARA MAESTROS Y ESTUDIANTES.
Señor Dios, te alabamos por el regalo de nuestras vidas y las bendiciones de mente, cuerpo y espíritu.
Bendice a nuestros hijos al comenzar otro año escolar. Llénalos con los dones de la sabiduría, conocimiento y la
comprensión. Bendice a los padres de nuestros niños de la escuela.
Oremos para que todos los hogares sean una escuelas de amor y fe.

Serving the Lord as an Altar Server is a
special ministry for many young people in our parish. We are thankful for their courage and their decision to be Missionary Disciples by serving God at His Altar. We are looking for more young people to be a part of this great ministry. If you are in 5th grade or older and want to be an Altar Server please call the parish office. Don't be afraid to serve because no experience is necessary. All you need is: love of God, an open heart, and a desire to learn more about the Mass and how it can change our lives. We thank you for prayerfully considering this call to service, and encouraging our friends and families to become the Missionary Disciples that Christ is calling us to be. Estamos orgullosos de todos ellos y su compromiso a servir a la Parroquia y el Señor nos inspira. Estamos buscando más jóvenes para ayudar y servir como un monaguillo. Si estás en quinto o sexto grado? o más y quiere ser un Monaguillo, por favor llame a la oficina de la parroquia. No tengas miedo de servir porque no se necesita experiencia. Todo lo que necesitas es: amor a Dios, un corazón abierto y un deseo de aprender más sobre las Misa y cómo puede cambiar nuestras vidas. St. JPII School Drive
Due to the overwhelming support last year (thanks to all), there is a slight surplus leftover from the school supply donations last year. Our principal, Helen Persing, requests donations of gift cards from places like Walmart and Target this year. These will be given to needy students to purchase clothes, shoes, or anything else they might need to start school. Donation boxes
will be at every entrance of both churches. Thank you as always for the support for our JPII students.

Spiritual Life Formation Spiritual Life Formation
* We have an immediate need of a 4th grade catechist and 2 adult aides for our Monday program which begins next week. Are you able to help us? You do not need to have a child or grandchild in the program to volunteer, but a registration discount is offered for any parent/grandparent who is able to volunteer for the weekly program. Training and materials are provided. A 2nd door monitor is needed for our weekly Sunday morning program. * Late registration is still available for all families. Applications are available at the parish office and on the faith formation page of our parish website. Our program is open to all families with children entering the 1st through 8th grades. All new families entering the program attend an introductory meeting before their child begins in the program. Families who are registering after September 7th will begin class on the 2nd week. * Weekly classes begin on Sunday, September 16th and Monday, September 17th. Parents are asked to attend 1 of the 3 scheduled parent meetings. The program calendar is available on the faith formation page of the parish website and in the parish office. * The homeschool parent/guardian meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 25th at 6:30pm in St. Luke Church. We are no longer using the online program so it is important that a parent/guardian attend to get their child’s book for this year. * The 8th grade parent/guardian and student meeting for Confirmation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:30pm in St. Luke Church. One parent/guardian is required to attend with their child.

Our 2018-2019 school year began on September 5th! We welcome several new teachers this year with a much teaching experience to share with
students. Both a new technology and S.T.E.M. program are being added this year to benefit students. More on this in future bulletins.

The school will have a new roof this school year!
This is a much needed improvement for our school and we are grateful Fr. Vince worked with the diocese to have the project started so quickly.
