We have all kinds of opportunities to be generous every day, whether it is with our families, co- workers, classmates and neighbors or with ourselves to forgive, to go the extra mile, to love one another and to dig deep in praying for those who we feel persecute us. This is everyday holiness, and the Church says that being holy makes us sacraments of God’s generosity to the world. See, generosity is the key to holiness, the key to being perfect as God is perfect. Holiness is not something we receive from outside. Holiness is taking God’s deep love and generously and sharing with others. So it starts with self - look inward and stand proud. Then you will be instinctively more generous towards oth- ers. Your generosity might be today a simple card, a prayer or a random act of kindness. Whatever you do, be sure to remember daily to tap into God’s generosity within you and the rest will flow naturally. Okay, it will take some work. However, the benefits are massive. Generosity breeds holiness.

GENEROSITY BREEDS HOLINESS

“Be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, am holy” (Lv 19:2)

In order to be holy, to be perfect, to be a person that reflects God’s presence can be broken down to one essential daily habit - be generous. Leviticus calls the people of Israel, and in these readings us, to have no hatred for people, no sense of vengefulness or harboring grudges. This is what I would propose it means to be generous. Jesus “dumbs it down” to make it really practical for us in the gospel (Mt 5: 38-48). Jesus says turn the other cheek, give more than is asked, go the extra mile and help someone in need of a loan. Then Jesus goes to the heart of generosity, which is the hardest, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Wow. We have all kinds of opportunities to be generous every day, whether it is with our families, co-workers, classmates and neighbors or with ourselves to forgive, to go the extra mile, to love one another and to dig deep in praying for those who we feel persecute us. Then you will be instinctively more generous towards oth-ers. Your generosity might be today a simple card, a prayer or a random act of kindness. Whatever you do, be sure to remember daily to tap into God’s generosity within you and the rest will flow naturally. Okay, it will take some work. However, the benefits are massive. Generosity breeds holiness.

Stewardship Thought In today’s first reading, the Israelites are urged to love

their neighbors as themselves. In the Gospel, Jesus spells out how we are to do that — to give generously to those

who ask of us and not to turn our backs on those who seek

to borrow.

Please remember in your daily prayers the sick and

suffering of our parish family.

2017 Catholic Service Appeal: Share His Light Your gift to the CSA supports the education of our seminarians, promotes the lifelong formation and education for Catholics involved in youth and adult ministry, helps those served by Catholic Charities, and other important ministries of our diocese. God calls each of us in a special way to Share His Light. These needs of our diocesan ministries are real. Your gener-osity in prayer and through your sacrificial gift, make it possible to provide these services, and more im-portantly, to bring the message of the Gospel to all people. To date St. Jude Parish has raised $20,420.00. For more on information about the Appeal or to donate online please visit www.jacksondiocese.org/in-action/stewardship- development.

Living Everyday with Passion & Purpose led by Matthew Kelly, invites us all to identify God's voice in our lives and the specific purpose for which we've been created. Matthew inspires attendees to apply the genius of Catholicism to every aspect of our lives including prayer & spirituality, work, dating & marriage, personal finances, health & well being, parenting, and community involvement. Matthew Kelly, and musician, Eliot Morris, prepares a unique mes-sage inspired by God and the teachings of the Church that promises to radiate in your life. Consider this: most people take more time to plan their annual vacation than they do to dis-cover the voice of God and His plan for their life. Join us for one of our Living Every Day with Passion & Purpose events. It's not your typical church event! It has been a life-changing event for tens of thousands of people.
