Pastor’s Corner The Baptism of the Lord, January 13, 2019 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The Christmas Season ends today with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Together with my fellow clergy-men, Sr. Catherine, Mrs. Alvarado, Staff and Faculty, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all of you, especially our benefactors, ministry leaders, choir s, ar t and environment team, and volunteers of our parish, for your countless dedications in service to our Lord and the Church so that we could have wonder-ful Christmas and New Year celebrations. Now, as we return liturgically to Ordinary time, I pray that you con-tinue to use this time to thank Almighty God for your life, your families, and friends. As we are in the middle of the Holy Year of Preparation for Christ Cathedral Dedication (on Wednes-day, July 17, 2019), please use this time wisely to car ry out the intention of our Bishop Kevin Vann to call for spiritual reflection and formation across the Diocese of Orange. May the Holy Year of Preparation bring all of us joy and gratitude to God and to one another! The Feast of Jesus’ Baptism reminds us of our mission: to exper ience the presence of God within us, to acknowledge our own dignity as God’s children, and to appreciate the divine presence in others by honoring them, loving them and serving them in all humility, and to accept both the good and the bad experiences of life as God’s gifts for our growth in holiness. May we continue to bring Jesus’ love to those whom we meet. Intellectual Disability is a disability characterized
by significant limitations in both intellectual functioning and in adaptive behavior, which covers many everyday social and practical skills. This disability originates before the age of 18.

Recently the scammers have created 4 different e-mail addresses [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] … They play around with those letters and their text number (410-921-3274) and sent their fake e-mails, texts to our parishioners pretending themselves to be Fr. Bao’s asking for money or iTunes gift cards. Please be assured that Fr. Bao NEVER sends out to his parishioners those fake e-mails, texts. Don’t trust those. Delete them. Block them. A popular spiritual saying says, “Doing wrong is bad. Staying in the wrong is worse.” We pray that they repent and amend
their lives each day better and better. May God forgive them!

2018 PSA Campaign
Dear Friends in Christ:
We are happy to report the success of our 2018 PSA campaign to the parish.
As of 12/31/2018, our total pledged amount was $183,394.25 with over 485 parishioners making a
contribution to the campaign.
Total paid amounted to $173,457.75 which represents 95% of the total overall pledges. This is simply
St. Cecilia-TASTIC! We are truly grateful to every-one who helped us this campaign year. Know that our
parish’s goal was $130,000.00. The amount over that goal ( i.e. $53,394.25 ) will be rebated to us and added to
our building fund.
In just a few weeks, we will launch our 2019 campaign on the weekend of 2/2 & 2/3. More information about this campaign will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. Please begin to prayerfully consider the amount that each
of you can make this coming year.
May God’s Will continue to be done as we work together in making this effort great! Again, as your pastor, I am
always grateful for your continued generosity to our parish, as well as our Diocese as a whole.

Church in 2018. At this time, we will prepare our letters of notification to all parishioners who contributed $250 or more during that calendar year. These will be made for all
donation categories which have been recorded.
Know that our letters of notification will be prepared and mailed on Friday, 1/27/2019. At this timer, no further
entries can be made without prior approval. In the event that an adjustment needs to be made, please contact me
accordingly. As we proceed with our yearly mailing, more information will be disclosed and advised.

Festividad del Bautismo del Señor—Enero 13, 2019 Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Hoy acabamos de terminarla temporada de la Navidad con la fiesta de hoy del Bautismo del Señor. Una vez más, junto con el Padre Ismael y Padre Nicolaus, queremos expresar nuestro más profundo agradecimiento a todos ustedes, las organizaciones, los coros y grupos de nuestra parroquia que han dedicado su servicio a nues-tra Iglesia para que podamos tener una maravilloso a celebración de la Navidad. Ahora volvemos a nuestro tiempo ordinario, espero que ustedes utilicen esta época del año para dar gracias a Dios Todopoderoso por su vida, sus familias y amigos. queremos desearles a todos ustedes, consejos, organizaciones, grupos y ministe-rios de nuestra parroquia un maravilloso Año Nuevo con las bendiciones de Dios, la buena salud, la prosperi-dad y la paz con su familia. ¡Que este Nuevo Año traigan todos ustedes la paz, la alegría del amor y de la pros-peridad!
Alabado sea el Señor por Nuestros Generosos Donantes Nuestra Fe, Construyendo Nuestro Futuro El propósito de la campaña es recaudar los fondos necesarios para construir un centro de reuniones y educación, un centro de administración y remodelar las oficinas exis-tentes que ampliarán la cocina, actualizarán y renovarán los baños y crearán un centro juvenil. Toda nuestra comunidad de Santa Cecilia ha estado participando en el compromiso de 3 años de nuestra campaña "viviendo nuestra fe construyendo nuestro futuro". Les agradezco profundamente a todos y cada uno de ustedes por su amor, oración, apoyo y generosidad. Que Dios los recompense y bendiga a usted y a su familia abundan-temente. Por favor considere rogar a Dios acerca de la cantidad que le gustar ía hacer a nuestra campa-ña durante el período de tres años de compromiso (36 meses), comenzando el 2018 de julio y terminando el 2021 de junio. Personalmente, me gustaría preguntar a las familias inscritas que aún no se han comprometido a dar por lo menos $1 dólar cada día, $30 dólares mensuales, $360 dólares al año, durante este período. Al final de la campaña, podrán estar orgullosos de ustedes mismos sabiendo que han aportado $1,080 dólares para la campaña. Oren para que Dios nos otorgue al menos 10 familias más que consideren hacerlo. Cuando sea posi-ble, por supuesto, me gustaría que consideraras aportar más. Reconozcan que cuanto más tengamos, más pron-to podemos construir. Créame cuando digo que, con la ayuda de Dios, construiremos una base sólida de fe pa-ra que la próxima generación de fieles se ponga en pie. La mayordomía es una forma espiritual de nuestra vida de fe. Sabemos que no somos diferentes, 62 años después, que nuestros párrocos fundadores y feligreses que hicieron el mismo sacrificio para invertir en la construcción de la iglesia, escuela, salón, cocina y oficina que usamos hoy en día con la misma intención-difundir el Evangelio de Cristo en todo del mundo. The members of the St. Cecilia Women’s Ministry would like to thank everyone who supported our first ever High Tea to raise money for our Capital Cam-paign which was held on November 4, 2018.
Our event was a huge success with more than $4,200 raised and bringing together members of our commu-nity for a day filled with beautiful music featuring our own Kristine Linares and Teri Schulist along with Teri’s very talented daughters. Wonderful conversa-tion, delicious food and breathtaking hats added much to a very festive day. We are so thankful to everyone who came to support our event.
None of this would have happened without the hard working committee composed of ladies from all of the women’s ministries. We thank Lourdes Gutierrez for the fabulous hats for our silent auction; Lita Davidson for organizing the baskets for the raffle; Teresa Ibbet-son for our beautiful programs, table names, and tag names; Janet Johnson and Sue Prieto for securing the dishes and serving pieces used; Esther Mays for regis-tration and table setting; Carol Ryan for running the silent auction and selecting the hats to be used; Carol O’Brien for the lovely center pieces and room decor and Angie Brough for her very authentic and delicious tea sandwiches and goodies! What a wonderful and very talented committee!

Giáo Hội vừa chấm dứt mùa Giáng Sinh. Một lần nữa, cùng với cha Nicolaus, cha Ismael, thầy sáu Đông, sơ Catherine, và cô hiệu trưởng Mary, chúng tôi xin chân thành tri ân Ban Thường Vụ, Hội Đồng Mục Vụ, quý Hội đoàn Ban nghành Đoàn thể, ban Ca đoàn, ban Lễ sinh và quý ân nhân đã hy đóng góp công sức và hiện kim cho cộng đoàn giáo xứ trong những ngày qua để tất cả chúng ta có một Đại Lễ Giáng Sinh thật bình an và tốt đẹp trong thánh ý Chúa. Chỉ còn vài tuần nữa là mừng Tết Nguyên Đán Kỷ Hợi (thứ Ba, 5 tháng 2), mong rằng mỗi người hãy dùng dịp đầu năm mới này để cầu xin Chúa Xuân ban cho ta sức khỏe, may mắn, và nhiều niềm vui trong năm mới. Xin Chúa Xuân ban cho toàn thể quý ông bà và anh chị em an khang, may mắn, dạt dào ân sủng, và tràn đầy hạnh phúc.
Chúa Nhật Lễ Chúa Giêsu Chịu Phép Rửa đã chấm dứt mùa Giáng Sinh. Việc Chúa Giêsu chịu Phép Rửa nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng mình là: con cái của Thiên Chúa, anh chị em của Chúa Giêsu, phần tử của Giáo Hội thừa hưởng phúc lộc Quê Trời, và đền thờ của Chúa Thánh Thần. Và còn nhắc nhở ta hãy loan truyền cảm nghiệm sự hiện diện của Thiên Chúa trong cuộc sống mình và hãy phục vụ Ngài trong tinh thần yêu thương và khiêm hạ. Hãy cố gắng sống đời sống thánh thiện, hãy làm cho tâm hồn là đền thờ của Chúa Thánh Thần, và hãy đem nhiều người trở về với Giáo Hội của Chúa. Mong lắm thay.

1884. Saint Pope John Paul II even recommended its use to help in the battle against the forces of darkness as the Letter to the Ephesians speaks of “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” You find

For the protection of the Universal Church and of our
Parish, Fr. Bao, Fr. Ismael and Fr. Nicolaus would like us to continue to pray the prayer until the day of the groundbreaking ceremony of our new building. We hope that it will be on Thursday, June 19, 2019
next year when we celebrate our 62nd Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church. We pray this prayer at
the conclusion of Mass, between after the final blessing and dismissal, and before the recessional

Our Pastor Fr. Bao’s official e-mail address is [email protected] and phone number is 714-544-3250. Recently the scammers have created four
different e-mail addresses [email protected], [email protected],
[email protected], [email protected] … They play around with those letters and their text
number (410-921-3274) and sent their fake e-mails, texts to our parishioners pretending themselves to be
Fr. Bao’s asking for money or iTunes gift cards.
Please be assured that Fr. Bao NEVER sends out to his parishioners those fake e-mails, texts. Don’t trust them. Delete them. Block them. A popular
spiritual saying says, “Doing wrong is bad. Staying in the wrong is worse.” We pray that they repent and
amend their lives each day better and better. May God forgive them.
