I appreciate your generosity. **My thanks to Fr. Greg Nevlud for giving a wonderful presentation of the meaning of Lent this last weekend at our Coffeehouse. We are excited about the approaching 100th Anniversary of the St. James Church building. After the 4 p.m. Mass on March 23rd, we will gather at the KC Hall for a potluck dinner. We would like to sug-gest the following system to ensure an appropriate amount of food to be served.

If your last name begins with the letter:

A-I Please bring a meat dish (casserole, chicken, brisket, etc.)

J-O Please bring a dessert

P-Z Please bring a side dish or salad.

This is only a suggestion. If you would like to bring your choice of dish, please feel free to do so. The St. Ann’s Circle will be receiving the dishes at the KC Hall before and after the Mass. Please make sure you have your name on any dishes that need to be returned.

100th Anniversary

Please make plans to attend this year’s Parish Mission. Fr. Ken Hannon will be our guest preacher. Fr. Ken is an Oblate priest and is a professor of theology at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. Fr. Ken will preach at all Masses on the weekend of March 15th & 16th and the mission will be as of follows:

Monday, March 17th—7:00 pm Tuesday, March 18th—7:00 pm Wednesday, March 19th—7:00 pm

This year’s theme is Holy Week: Invitation to New Life in Christ. Our celebration of Holy Week draws us deeply into the mystery of our redemption. Each of the three “Holy” Days, Thurs-day, Friday and Saturday/Sunday, introduces a distinctive dimension of the life we are invited to live as followers of Christ.

Your Archbisop’s Appeal Donations Are Funding:

Catholic Charities Brazos Extendidos

The Brazos Extendidos (Open Arms) program provides psychological counseling services to individuals and families living in the rural areas of the Archdiocese, where these services are otherwise unavailable. Services are provided to those in need without regard for a person’s ability to pay.

Stations of the Cross will be held on Fridays during Lent at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Soup Supper in the Parish Hall.

The schedule is as follows:

March 21st Hosted by Tuesday Morning Bible Study & Adoration March 28th Hosted by St. Ann’s Circle April 4th Hosted by Hospitality Committee & Pastoral Council April 11th Hosted by Religious Education

St. James School will also celebrate Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. in the Church. All are invited.

Living Rosary

A ‘Living Rosary’ for the unborn will be held on March 25th at 6PM, at the Austin Street

Dinner and Silent Auction, opening at 5 p.m. at Texas Lutheran Party Barn located at 1000 W. Court Street Seguin (near the corner of University Street and Fleming). The TLU Water to Thrive organization will host a fundraising event with the mission of raising $5,000 towards a second well in rural Ethiopia, where 2 out of 3 people do not have access to healthy, clean water. Registration for the 2014-2015 school year is still underway. If you have any questions regarding registration please call the church office.

The next PTC meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 17th at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Everyone is then invited to attend the mission at 7 p.m.

St. James school will be hosting stations of the Cross on Fridays at 2:30 p.m. during Lent. Every-one is welcome.

Infant Baptism Information

If you are expecting a child and would like to

prepare to celebrate the Baptism of your child at

St. James Parish, please call Sr. Cal

830/379-7689 to schedule an initial Baptism

interview and sign up for Baptism prep sessions.

Parents need to be registered members of St.

James Parish for six months before celebrating

their child’s Sacrament of Baptism.
