“End of Life or Ending Life?”

October 23, 2011 9:45 AM

Dr. George Isajiw, M.D., K.M.

Who can forget the drama played out in 2005 as 32 year old, minimally conscious Terri Schiavo spent 13 days slowly dying from

D E L I B E R A T E S T A R V A T I O N A N D D E H Y D R A T I O N?

While this tragedy took place on the worldwide stage, every day many other families struggle to make decisions about what is the best, moral, and humane care for their terminally ill or severely disabled loved ones, and how to protect them from forced death. On Sunday, October 23, at 9:45 AM in Bishop DiMarzio Hall, Dr. George Isajiw, a practicing internal medicine physician from Lansdowne, Pennsylania., will address the challenge of caring for those who are incapacitated by age, illness or disability. Additionally, Jeanette Fischer who is a nurse and the sister of parishioner Emily Sparks, will offer personal witness in dealing with end-of-life issues. Join us for this important breakfast presentation.

October CAP Sessions

We can be sure that we love God’s children when we love God and do what He has commanded. 1 John 5:2

The Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth and Adults is announcing CAP (Child Assault Prevention) sessions. CAP is the safe environment training program for adults who have regular contact with minors. Attendance is required in order to comply with the USCCB’s Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The policy of the diocese is that adults will attend CAP once every five years.

CAP 1 teaches attendees to recognize child abuse and neglect and how to report to the proper authorities. Adults are taught that children have the right to be safe, strong and free. CAP 1 is for new volunteers and employees.

CAP 2 is No More Bullies, No More Victims and is a workshop on bullying awareness and bullying prevention. Cyberbullying is also addressed. Both sessions are 90 minutes.

Adults must attend CAP 1 before attending CAP 2. After five years, adults have the option of attending CAP 1 again if they prefer.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE

This Fall, from September 28 to November 6, our community is uniting with hundreds of other cities around the world for the largest and longest coordinated prolife mobilization in history: the 40 Days for Life campaign.

Recognizing that “with God all things are possible,” people of faith are praying that this effort will help bring an end to the tragedy of abortion.

You can speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves at the Cherry Hill Women's Center, 502 N. King's Hwy, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Mater Ecclesiae again serves as coordinator for the Saturday time slots from 10 AM to 1 PM.

We still have quite a number of those time slots without volunteers to cover them. The sign-up sheet in the St Martha Room.

Please sign up to stand up for LIFE!
