Bishop’s Appeal

This is an “off week” for reporting Bishop’s Appeal statistics so the following data is of last week. Look to next week’s bulletin for updated information.

● 2 new gifts received since last report; 2 additions to already existing gifts; these 4 gifts

totaled $280.00; ● Total received to date: $27,378, 75.6% of goal ($27,378/$36,200); ● 281 Cabrini Households participating or 31.6% of Parish (281/890); ● Average gift stands at $97.43; ● 609 or 68% of the parish’s households have not yet made their stewardship gift; ● Only $8,822 (spread out among 609 Cabrini Households) is needed to meet our goal. Special thanks and blessings to the wonderful group of “281 Cabrini Households" who have brought us to 75.6% of our goal amount. Special thanks to those parishioners who added to their original gift! If yours is one of the “609 Cabrini Households” who have not yet participated, won’t you help us wrap up the appeal with your contribution?!? Even a $10 or $20 gift would help. Without your participation, we have to make up the shortfall from our regular income and fund-raisers. Your fellow parishioners who already made their contribution await you and would love to see you come on board. . .and, I can retire from this reporting job. Thanks! Updated Appeal reports are published bi-weekly.

Come on. . . Large, small or in the middle, every Cabrini Household’s participation and gift is critical to meeting our collective Stewardship responsibility to the Diocese! Fr. Martin

Mother Cabrini Parish will Honor Veterans,

November 18/19

At each of the Lord’s Day Masses of November 18/19, a special tribune will be paid to our veterans. This “Veteran Day Commemoration” is being sponsored by the Black Diamond Detachment of the

Marine Corps League. The Commander is Walt Summers.

Any family who is in possession of the folded presentation flag of their loved one/veteran is invited to bring that flag with themselves to any one of these November 18/19 weekend Masses at Mother Cabrini. You are asked to meet under the choir loft before Mass begins and to carry that flag with honor in the entrance procession to the altar. The folded flags will be displayed in front of the altar with dignity for the duration of that particular Mass. After Communion, taps will be played and Walt Summers will address the congregation. Flags will be returned immediately after Mass to each respective family. To insure proper identification, write your name on a piece of paper and tuck that paper into a fold of the flag. If circumstances permit, please bring your loved one’s flag to this meaningful tribute! In November we remember our loved ones –

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light

shine upon them. Let us remember our dear faithful

departed during this month of November.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WINTER COAT COLLECTION: The Shamokin Knights of Columbus will be collecting new or gently used winter coats that will be distributed on Thanksgiving. We are collecting coats for both kids and adults.

First Reading: Wisdom 6:12-16 Regarded as personifying God’s power, Wisdom is readily and easily found by those who seek her. Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 The Thessalonians, who fear that those who have died will miss Christ’s return, are comforted by Paul’s assurance that those “who have died in Christ will rise first.” Gospel: Matthew 25:1-13 In the parable of the five sensible bridesmaids and the five foolish bridesmaids, Jesus emphasizes the fact that we must always be ready for the coming of Christ because in his words, “You know not the day or the hour.”
