Holiday Dinner

Background: Our Christmas Tree. Inset pictures: Top: Canaan Elementary 4th grade classes, Verna Dunn (foreground). Right: Lindsey Per-ricone. Bottom: Evelyn Young & Ruth Tucker at the gift circle. After postponing the Holiday Dinner due to bad weather, we gathered on Dec. 17th for a wonderful event. The room was very festive thanks to Marion Rogers and two young boys who came in to help deco-rate the tree. Sharon Dunbar, appropriately dressed with a Santa hat read “The Night Before Christmas” while several participants took part in a gift circle, passing presents each time the word “the” was read. At the end of the story, they all enjoyed opening their pre-sents. Entertainment was provided by Lindsay Perricone, who brought her ornate harp and played many Christ-mas classics throughout the day. The 4th grade classes from Canaan Elementary School also came and enthu-siastically sang a medley of Christmas Carols. In addi-tion they brought placemats they had made.

Christmas In Canaan On Dec. 17th, the Senior Center participated in the 3rd Annual Christmas in Canaan. We offered cider and whoopee pies as refreshments as well as a place to sit and rest awhile between other activi-ties. As stop #9 we were “Nine Ladies Dancing” for the prize drawing to be held later in the eve-ning. Participants stopped to have their card stamped for each of the Twelve Days of Christ-mas. The Center also hosted the Valley Improv group, the Upper Valley's only Improvisational Comedy Troupe! Fun, energetic comedy; a GREAT enter-tainment option for your company function or per-sonal occasion. Valley improv is fun for the whole family. What exactly is "Improv Comedy"? Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. Suggestions are taken from the audience as the sole source of inspiration to get a scene started. Because every audience is different, once you've see a performance, that’s it… there will never be another show exactly like it done again. An Im-prov show is different each and every time!
