So now what to do with your spare time in the cold dark winter months? As I brought out in a recent Rider Ed topic, you can plan to replace some of the old riding gear, like helmets, jackets, and gloves, etc., and be ready for spring. You should be able to find some deals in the off season. How about planning for you and your fellow Chapter members to attend some great GWRRA fun events? Like a Tropical Island adventure getaway with your Maryland District members, and members from around the Region and Canada ! There will be fun games, lots of warm pool side gatherings, seminars, and an awards dinner. We’ll be offering Rider Ed training classes and Medic First Aid and CPR training, as well as Leadership training seminars. Relax between all the fun in the Hospitality area where everyone meets to relax and enjoy each other’s company. An important reminder—we ask that you bring non-perishable food items and dry goods

    Happy New Year!

    Al General & Jackie Bond

    MD District Educators

What have you got planned for 2017? We hope you plan to attend Winterthing 2017! It has the makings to be the best yet. Our theme Tropical Paradise is set to warm you up during the winter season. You want to learn? We are here to teach. The staff of Winterthing have put together a schedule of seminars to help you dress up, gear up and knowledge up for the upcoming riding season. Our goal is to keep you in the know of the proper riding techniques for a variety of situations. Whether it’s taking on the mountains and curves or dealing with the elements, you will walk away with the knowledge from our great seminars.

We are bringing in our partners this year to help us out. Crofton Powersports will be discussing Goldwing maintenance to keep your wing in top condition. The MVA will be making a return appearance with their Smart Trainers. The Smart Trainers are a great tool that challenge you in everyday real world riding situations. The Smart Trainers are also a good way to allow the non-rider’s a safe way to experience what it’s like to be a rider in the real world.

While at Winterthing, make sure you stop by the Rider Education booth. Ask how the levels program is designed to give you a step by step approach to riding safe. As you move up in the levels, you will become a safe and knowledgeable rider. The levels program is a way to show your commitment to continuous learning and being prepared as a rider.

In the upcoming year, our staff is working on putting on an ARC course in the upcoming spring. April 30

th, Chapter J and L will be hosting a joint Shiny Side Up practice. The location

will be the Riva Road Park and Ride in Parole, MD. This will offer a whole new set of exercises for riders to practice their skills. This will only be available for 2 wheels. A trike practice will be available later in the year. Please remember that these practices do not replace a riding course.

So, make sure you make plans to attend Winterthing 2017 and we will see you there.

    Welcome to the New Year!

We hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year’s.

Julie and I enjoyed 2016 as your District Couple, and a big “Thank You” for all the support we received over the past year.

As we get ready to turn over the “crown” to another lucky

couple, we have set the path for those coming behind us to

keep looking ahead and always plan for success…and have

    FUN!!

  • MD District Trainer Updates:

The training plans for 2017 are in the works. They include OCP, Horizons Class, and the new ITCP for those whom desire to become instructors.

The Winter Thing classes and descriptions will also be printed in the programs

and available in your registration packets. This year we are offering the CPR/MFA refresher class, Co-Rider, and a Motorist Awareness seminar, along with a blend of Leadership Training, Rider Education and Membership Enhancement seminars.
