    Getoutallthecandlemakingsuppliesyouneed.Molds,wicks,wax,melting/pouringpot,thermometer,scale,andsaucepanasdoubleboiler.(colorandfragranceifdesired)

  • PrepareTheWaxMeasureoutthewaxyouneed.Belowisatableforreferencetodeterminehowmuchwaxyou’llneed.

    Tealights –Approximately1.2oz.makesonetealightcandle.

    Votives –Approximately3.2oz.makesonevotivecandle.

  • PlaceWick

    Setpre‐assembledwicksorwickpinsintoeachofthecandlemoldstobereadyforlater.(Don’tspraywiththemoldreleaseyet.)

  • PrepareDoubleBoiler– MeltWaxPlaceamediumsizedpotontothestove.Fillwithabout1‐2inchesofwater.Placethepouringpitcherintothepotwiththewaxalreadyinit.Heatslowlyuntilallwaxismelted

    Note:Thereshouldalwaysbesomewaterinthepot,however,itshouldn’tbetoomuchtocausethepitcherstofloataround.Theweightofthepitcherandthewaxinsideitshouldstopthisfromhappening.

  • Additions

    Addcoloringand/orfragranceifdesired.

    *Keepinmindthatthecolorwillbedramaticallylighterwhenitdriesthanitiswhenit’sliquid.

    *Howmuchfragranceyouaddwilldependonthefragranceyouhavepurchased.Somefragrancesaremuchmorepotent,anddon’tneedasmuchadded.

  • CoolingTheWax

    Eachtypeofcandlehasadifferentidealpouringtemperature.

    Hereisaquickreferencetohowhotyourwaxshouldbeforpouringvarioustypesofcandles.

    Tealights – Approx.130°FVotives – Approx.175°FPillars – Approx.175°F–180°FContainers – Approx.190°F

  • PourTheWaxWhenthewaxhascooledtotheidealtemperaturebasedonwhattypeofcandleitis,itisreadytobepoured.Spraythemoldslightlywithreleasespray.

    Foracleanerpour,tiltthemoldorcontainerslightlytowardthepitcher.Pourthewaxallthewaytothetopofthemolduntilitisjustatthetop.Ifyouhaveawickpinorwickinthecandle,besuretokeepitcenteredwhen/afterpouring.

  • SecondPourBecausethewaxwillconcavenaturally,itisnecessarytoheatuptheremainingwaxandpouroverthecandles(whenmostlyset)inordertomakethetopsasrounded/flataspossible.Letcandlessetfor1hour.Onceyouonlyhaveabout10minutesleft,heatuptheremainingwaxindoubleboiler.Oncetheremainingwaxiscompletelyliquidagain,placethethermometerin.Whenitisatatemperatureof175°F–185°Fpouroverthecandlestothetopofthemold.

  • RemovingTheCandleFromTheMold

    Afterthecandlehascompletelyhardened,youcanremoveitfromthemold.Turnthemoldupsidedownandtapthebottomofthemoldtoreleasethecandle.Thentakethewickpininyourfingersandgently(asnottobreakupthewaxinthecenterofthecandle)wigglethewickpinuntilitpullsoutthecandle.Ifyouusedamoldreleasethenitshouldcomeoutprettyeasily.

  • PlacingWicksOncethecandlehascooledyoucanremovethewickpins.Afteryou’veremovedthewickpins,placethepre‐tabbedwickinitandbesuretopushitallthewayintosecureit.

    Takeyour½sheetofbeeswaxandmeasurefromtopcornerto1”inatbottom.Cutwaxonaslightdiagonal.

  • Tostart

    Flipsheetoverwithwideredgefacingyou.

  • PlacingwickLaythewickalongtheedgeofthesheetandstartrollingthecandlebybendingoverabout1/8"ofthewax.Workingfromoneendtotheother,pressdownfirmlytomakesurethewaxistightaroundthewick

  • WickSizeAlwaystestburntodeterminethepropersizewick!

    • 5/0isforarolledbeeswaxcandlemeasuringapproximately ¼"wide.

    • 4/0isforarolledbeeswaxcandlemeasuringapproximately ½"wide.

    • 3/0isforarolledbeeswaxcandlemeasuringapproximately½"wide.

    • 2/0isforarolledbeeswaxcandlemeasuringapproximately ¾"wide.

    • 1/0isforarolledbeeswaxcandlemeasuringapproximately1"wide.

    Oncethewickispressedfirmlyintothewax,it'stimetobegentlewiththewax.Youdon'twanttowarpthehoneycombpatternonthewax.Startrollingthecandleslowlyandstraight,makingsurethatyouarekeepingtheendseven.Keeprollinguntilyoureachtheend.

    Beeswaxreleasesnegativeionswhenitburns.Pollen,dust,dirt,pollutants,andanyotherjunkintheairallcarryapositivecharge,andthatishowtheycanbesuspendedintheair.Thenegativeionsreleasedfromburningbeeswaxnegatethepositivechargeofaircontaminants,andtheneutralizedionsaresuckedbackintotheburningcandleorfalltotheground.Manyairpurifiersandwaterfiltersharnessthiseffectivenegativeiontechnology.Becausebeeswaxcandlescleantheairandreduceindoorpollutants,theycaneffectivelyreduceasthma,allergies,andhayfever.

  • WaxPurityPleasebeawarethatcandleslabeled“purebeeswax,”accordingtothelegaldefinition,onlyhavetobe51%beeswax.Theother49% canbeparaffinoranythingelse.Inordertogetthehealthbenefitsofburningbeeswax,lookfor100%purebeeswaxcandles.

  • Wicks

    SquareBraidwicksworkbestforbeeswax

    • Formsacarboncaponthetopofthewick.Thecarboncapradiatesheatoutwardfromtheflamewhichhelpsmeltwaxwhichisfurtherawayfromtheflame.SquareBraidwickshelptochannelthewaxfumesuptotheflame.

    • Thewickalsobendsslightlyasitburnswhichminimizescarbonbuild‐upandmakesforacleanerburningcandle.

  • PreparingwicksPrepareyourwicks.Measurealengthofwickthat’sequaltotwicethedesiredcandlelengthplus4inches.(Ex:ifyouwanttomake8‐inchcandles,makethewick16+4=20incheslong)Cutthislength,thentieawasherorsmallweightontoeachend.Next,cuta2″squareor2″x4″rectangle(seephotos)ofsturdycardboardandcutslitsateachend,about1/2″to1″in.

  • Foldyourwickinhalfandalignthecenterinthemiddleofyourcardboardpiece,thenplacethewicksintotheslatsyoucut(asshowninphotobelow).Thetwo

    piecesofwickshouldbehangingevenlybelowthecardboard.

  • Smoothlyandslowlypullthewickoutofthewaxanddipinthebucketofcoolwater.DoingthisstepinbetweendipssavesanENORMOUSamountoftime.Ifyoudon’thaveabucketofcoolwater,youwillneedtowaituntil

    thewaxiscompletelydryonthewickbeforeyoudipitagain.
