Better schools for brighter futures.
I n Marshall, we’ve always been committed to preserving the past. But we also believe in planning
and building for the future. This means we are dedicated to providing the families and students of
our community with the best schools possible. And the results of our efforts speak for themselves.
Recently, Marshall Public Schools’ composite student test scores ranked at the top of all the schools
in Calhoun County. In fact, our schools regularly rank academically among the best in the state.
Marshall Public Schools offer strong, diverse programs and are staffed by committed, experienced
teachers and employees. Marshall also offers educational opportunities at The Marshall Academy,
a chartered Michigan Public school. As for higher education, over 10 major colleges and universities
are located within 70 miles of Marshall. We further support our students by offering a wide array
of extracurricular activities, including athletics, music, and fine arts. Marshall also offers innovative
learning techniques to teachers and students through the Marshall Success Fund. Students and
their families also enjoy the outstanding educational benefits of the Marshall District Library.
08
Better schools for brighter futures.
Organized in 1835, the Marshall Public School system began in a one-room schoolhouse with just a handful
of students. The system grew quickly, however, and through the guidance of two community leaders, Rev.
John D. Pierce and lawyer, Isaac E. Crary, it soon became the model for many school systems throughout
the country. Today, the Marshall Public School system has a well educated and diverse faculty serving a
robust population of students (over 2000) with an enriched and varied curriculum.
We’ll help you find your home sweet home.

Marshall combines everything you’re looking for in a forward-thinking community: easy
livability, a commitment to business and technology, and close proximity to the Midwest’s major
business hubs. Beyond this, Marshall also has a clear vision on how to best approach business
development in this new economy.
A large part of this vision includes the Brooks Industrial and Research Park. The Park features
research and manufacturing facilities in a scenic wetland environment, highlighted by walking and
biking trails. The Park is currently being developed in three stages, with the first stage consisting
of seven lots ranging in size from four to ten acres. The other two phases will accommodate future
growth. In addition, 25 acres will be reserved for light industrial manufacturing. Brooks Industrial
and Research Park is like no other in the Great Lakes Region. In addition to the Brooks, Marshall is
conveniently located at the intersection of I-69 and I-94, with over a thousand acres of undeveloped
land in Marshall Township. Marshall is within an hour’s drive of the Midwest’s business hubs.
