Next Meeting October 2, 7:00 pm
Marple Township Building
An interesting thing happened in the May Primary Election. Only 9% of registered Democrats in both Marple and Newtown Townships bothered to show up to vote! On the Republican side, things were a bit different. In Marple, 15% of Republican voters showed up on Primary Day. In Newtown, that figure was 26%! Do Republicans just care more about voting and public policy than Democrats? We know that’s not true! Democrats have been on the march in Delaware County for the last decade. Our numbers have grown significantly and, more often, Democrats are winning election...from Joe Sestak and Bryan Lentz to the township commissioners and school board directors that we have elected right here in Marple Newtown. We can elect our strong ticket of local candidates again this year—but only if you MAKE A COMMITMENT to vote on November 5, 2013.
We have a fine ticket of candidates for local office -candidates who will carry the banner of our party this year and affect the change locally that we have fought so hard for nationally. We have four excellent candidates for school board – Claude Falcone and Laura Wozniak from Newtown and Patience Lehrman and Ellen Trantas from Marple. All four are parents of Marple Newtown public school students who are committed to providing a quality educational experience and strong public schools. We have two excellent candidates for Newtown Supervisor – Thomas Cobb and Raymond Lopez, as well as Bruce Killen running for Newtown Tax Collector. Former Commissioners John Butler and Charlie Sammartino are running again for Township Commissioner in Marple . Bios on all these candidates are on our website. All of these individuals deserve our strongest support. Please pitch in whatever you can to help – time, talents or dollars. To volunteer, email [email protected].
General Election 2013: Vote Tuesday November 5!
Visit us online at www.mndems.com.
Every four years, in the year of the governor's election, Democratic voters elect representatives from each precinct to help organize the party. These precinct representatives help recruit local candidates, elect party leadership, vote on candidate endorsements and party platforms, and help insure Democrats have an organized presence in our towns. Democratic primary voters, next May, will elect two precinct representatives, also
known as committee persons, in each voting precinct. In Marple, we'll elect 42 precinct representatives and 18 in Newtown. If you are interested in serving in this way and helping to build a strong Democratic Party in Marple Newtown, please email party chair Tony Campisi at [email protected]. Now is the time to start thinking about serving in this capacity. It is not a full time job...but it is a critical position to help us organize!
